For sale is an immaculate 2012 American Series P Bass in sunburst, rosewood neck and tortoiseshell- the classic P Bass. It comes with the original SKB Fender case, candy and has been newly set up and strung with a new set of TI flats. It weighs near-enough 8lbs 5oz. The action is incredibly low and it's a wonderful bass. The previous owner has drilled some holes for the chrome bridge cover (also included) which certainly adds to the 60's vibe this bass has. It's a very neat job too. I already have a P Bass and this was rather an impulsive buy (surprise, surprise). I would like £750 for it. It can be picked up for either Woking (weekends) or Bristol (weekdays) and I'm happy to post for cost too. I'd also consider trades for a Stingray 5 String or new series US Fender Jazz Fretless is a similar condition. Two Bass Gig Bags - Any good or just too heavy?
Old Horse Murphy replied to CamdenRob's topic in Accessories and Misc
A couple of times. I've also walked a good mile or so with it with no strain. Mine with 2 basses and a couple of straps in the pocket is about 15" deep at the widest point, so not a huge amount more than a relatively full rucksack/laptop bag -

I've got the Mono (well, actually two of them) and although a little bulky, they're not significantly heavier than the single ones. Most of the weight is obviously down to the basses you carry, but the shoulder straps and padding make the gigbag relatively easy to carry around. -
NBD: 1988 Musicman Stingray- very red, very lovely
Old Horse Murphy replied to Old Horse Murphy's topic in Bass Guitars
I've taken the neck off to look closer but unfortunately it's just as illegible as the photo By all accounts and speaking to a few people on the Ernie Ball forum, "red" was a colour option at the time and it certainly is that -
Protect Contego users, help needed!
Old Horse Murphy replied to M@23's topic in Accessories and Misc
It fits! I had a VM-5 and i can confirm this. The Contego also fits a Yamaha TRB-5PII (35" with a big headstock) easily.
Nothing more to add I've had several Contegos and they'll certainly fit your Sandberg Matt -

As lovely as it is, I've just been invited to join a functions band requring lots of D's and the occasional C so I'm afraid this may have to go (last in first out and all that....) -
Not a very good photo, but here she is! Really liking it so far. Gigs are stacked right up for July and I can't wait to get started!
Nice one Matt

For sale are 2 Bass hard cases that are currently surplus to requirements The first is a Fender SKB Bass Case as issued with Fender American Standard P and J basses. It's in immaculate condition and comes with the keys - £90 inc postage [s]The second is a Hiscox bass hard case, complete with keys. It's a bit tatty (well used) and has a small crack in the underside This doesn't detract from the case stability and it's definitely built to last. Given the small crack, it's priced at £55 inc delivery.- [/s]NOW SOLD Both can be picked up from Woking too for a small reduction in price. I'll put proper pics up later but the stock pictures should give you a good idea
Nice. I'm going to be looking for a similar thing for my CIJ 62RI Jazz also in Daphne Blue, will check out the Thomann website. Anywhere else I should look?
It's one of these. They do aged ones too but they're quite a bit more expensive: https://m.thomann.de/gb/montreux_1448_real_celluloid_62.htm?o=1&ref=mrl_a_1&search=1435669588 -
Here is my recently acquired 1988 Musicman Stingray. It's very red,has a number of dings and marks on it (a sign of a well-used bass and for a very good reason). It weighs in at just over 9lbs and is all-original. The 2 band eq is (IMHO) far better sounding than the 3 band eq and it plays wonderfully too with a gorgeous lacquered neck. Some of you may recall I recently purchased a Fender American Vintage 64 Jazz bass in FSR a Daphne Blue. The guitar came with a very nice off White pickguard but it just looked a little bit anaemic to me: I managed to source a Fender tortoiseshell pickguard to try it out and really liked the look. However, given that the bass is nitro finished, I wanted something a little more "authentic". I managed to find a celluloid tortoiseshell pickguard from Thomann of all places and although a lot more expense than the Fender one, it was less than £60 and to my eyes, looks a lot more like the vintage tortoiseshell and slightly 3D rather than a bit pepperoni-like. And here it is. I'm very happy

My second deal with Matt and the second time he has arrived by boat I bought a super P Bass from him and as always the whole deal was an absolute pleasure. Good luck with both imminent arrivals Matt (the one with 5 strings and the other, more important one with 2 arms and 2 legs!) Highly recommended
