1.
Oh no! really really sorry to hear you have to give up mate Such a shame.... I wish you well with the recovery of your wrist / hand and good luck with the sale of your bass Looks a real bargain too BTW. Would it be possible for you to play an EUB in future? Just a thought - most are mountable onto some sort of stand too (like the NS Design range) they are easier to lug about, and with aforementioned stand, it may also help Good luck Marc
Thanks very much Marc. I may well revert back to EUB at some point in the future
2. Thanks for everyone's kind comments You'd think at my age I would have learnt by now. Unfortunately, you're a very long time retired and I didn't think I was quite ready to give up playing just yet (I reckon I've still got another 10-20 years left in me )
3.
So sorry to hear about the op: no chance of physio and rehab to get back to playing DB afterwards? This bass plus setup, in this condition is a real bargain, I hope you get a quick sale.
Thanks Rabbie I've broken it playing rugby and will need a plate and some screws. Although it just about gets me by playing electric bass, the additional strength and stretch required to play DB is causing me all sorts of issues.
4. A very reluctant sale this, but unfortunately I have to have quite a complicated op on my left wrist, so it looks like my DB days are prematurely over I'm looking to sell the whole lot together, which will give someone a ready to go giggable DB at a heavily discounted price. I'm not looking to split. For sale is a Gedo Musik 3/4 violin-shaped DB with solid Spruce top, ebony board and laminated back and sides with flame maple. It's finished in Antique Matte, which I think is a far nicer finish than the stained orange you often see on instruments at this price point. It's by no means the best quality DB, but it is very good quality (Gedo has a very good reputation here on Basschat) and now sounds wonderful with the new strings and full setup. When the instrument arrived, I had it professionally serviced and set up by Edward Gaut violins. He reshaped the fingerboard, re-cut the nut, lowered the bridge and installed a new sound post as the original one wasn't a great fit. The work cost me £240. It has Tyrolean tuners and is currently fitted with Thomastik Spirocore Weich E and A strings and Lenzner Supersolo D and G gut strings (the Thomastik D and G strings are also included in the sale.) The Thomastiks were bought brand new. I have also installed a David Gage Realist pickup and the David Gage volume unit, along with a Walnut Ben Bastin End Pin. Also included is a FDeck Clone preamp. The bass has been stored in a Tom and Will Superior gigbag and comes with a Stagg Double Bass Stand. There's also a cheap bow that came with it and some DB instruction books I recently bought including: Ray Brown's Bass Method Principles of Double Bass Technique Essential Elements 2000 For Strings Everything is in super condition and has probably only left the house once. Overall the bass, set up, strings, pickups, preamp, gigbag, stand and everything else cost in excess of £1,500. I'm looking for £1,050. I would consider trades for a Fender Custom Shop Strat, Classic Stingray, or possibly a R*ckenbacker bass or guitar. It can be picked up from either preferably Woking (weekends) or Bristol (weekdays). As mentioned, I don't want to split this at the moment. 5. Played through a 2x10 Ashdown combo on Thursday night. Although most of the Front of House sound was handled by the PA, the combo sounded great on the stage and pretty well-defined and loud
6. For sale is a super condition Memory Foam Leather Gibson Montana Guitar Strap. It's in super condition, although the Gold Gibson logo has faded. The guitar is patterned as per the Hummingbird and J200 guitars. It's in a gorgeous tan leather colour and the 1/2" thick memory foam makes this strap ideal for heavier basses. It has been fitted with straplocks but the ends are still in great condition. It's 2.75" wide and adjusts from 43-55" length. They currently retail for £59 plus postage. I'm selling mine for £35 inc postage.
7. For sale are 2 Mono GS1 Betty Straps. They are in excellent condition. Straplocks have previously been fitted but the ends are still in super condition. They extend up to 46" long and retail for £30 plus postage new. These are super straps but I currently have 2 straps per bass! One Grey (bluey colour) as per the colour of the second strap in the attached pic (actually a bit bluer in the flesh.) Yours for £23 each inc postage. Black one now sold. The grey one is still available
8.
Hubba hubba hubba GLWTS sadly it can't be mine
Thanks for the kind comments. It really is a reluctant sale, but the bass deserves to be played more than it is currently
9. For sale is my 1977/78 Fender P bass. This is a very reluctant sale, but I am playing very little bass at the moment, so something has to go I'm afraid. The bass is 100% original and comes with an early 80's Fender case. There is no chrome pickup cover however but it does come with thumb rest, original strap pins and bridge cover. It is strung currently with a new set of TI Flats and the action is low and super-comfortable. The bass sounds wonderful too; everything from dubby Motown through to clangy Stranglers. Weight-wise it's very comfortable and Is between 9-9.4lbs according to my luggage scales. The colour has faded beautifully to a lovely sunburst finish and although there are a number of chips and dings. These have all been gained in the line of duty and through many years of playing. Structurally it's one of the good ones from this era and very well put together indeed. The neck is B profile, so while thicker than a Jazz, it's still very comfortable to play. I'm not really looking to post this bass and really think it should be viewed in person to appreciate it better as the photos don't do it much justice. It can be viewed either in Bristol (weekdays) or Woking (weekends). This is for sale at £1,375. I would consider trades for Fender Custom Shop Stratocasters or Telecasters, or a Gibson Les Paul Standard/Custom in excellent condition
10. Jim was kind enough to travel to meet me this morning to trade basses. He's great guy and the bass is equally as good! Highly recommended
11. For sale is a Radial Bigshot I/o instrument selector. It's a non-battery powered pedal that allows you to select between 2 instruments powered through the same amp. It's in super condition and a very useful piece of kit to have on your pedalboard. Here's a link explaining more: http://www.radialeng.com/bigshotio.php Yours for £55 inc postage.
12.
So are these "old" Wizard of the new Hot Rod incarnation?
Yes, it didn't make it clear did it. I've amended the ad, but just to clarify, these were made by Hot Rod.
13. Bump for trade ideas added Would consider trades for a New Series or US Vintage Reissue Fender Tele, or a good condition Gibson SG
14. For sale is a 2009 Fender American Series Jazz Bass in (now discontinued) Blizzard Pearl. It's in great condition and plays beautifully. Weight-wise is under 9lbs. This isn't one of the S1 US Fenders, but the supeb newer ones with thin finishes, high mass bridges and rolled fingerboards. It comes with the case candy and a non-original but genuine Fender early-80's hardcase. It's also been strung with a new set of TI Flats and has 2 genuine Fender pickguards (the original white one and a Tortoiseshell one I bought and fitted.) I have installed a high quality Concentric Pot set (V/T for each pickup) made from original Fender and Switchcraft parts. The original electrics aren't included. Condition is very good indeed but there are some small marks on the back of the body which I've done my best to photograph. It looks worse in the pics but there are definitely some marks. Colour-wise it's pearlescent and has changed in to a lovely light Gold colour. It changes in different lights and i have used a piece of white paper to give some idea of the finish. I'm not playing too much bass at the moment, so my P Basses are more than sufficient for me. I'm looking for £750 in order to sell quickly. *** UPDATE ** Would consider trades with a US Fender Tele (New model or Vintage Reissue) or a decent condition Gibson SG Standard) The bass can be picked up from either Woking (weekends) or Bristol (weekdays). I'm not looking to post this one due to time commitments. 17. For sale is a brand new, unused set of Wizard 84 Jazz bass pickups. These haven't been fitted at all but are surplus to requirements. These were bought from Hot Rod pickups who now manufacture them. I'm looking for £70 inc postage (Over £20 saving on a new pair).
