1999 US Jazz in 'hot rod red'; SOLD PENDING THE USUAL
Old Horse Murphy replied to Clarky's topic in Basses For Sale
Hi, Murphy (do i call you that, or Old Horse??? ) Clarky mentioned this was yours before. Did you fit the Wizards in it yourself? I'm sure I'm gonna love the bass, it's my first ever Fender.... swore I'd never want a Fender ever, but I tried a 62RI at a music shop near me in Bournemouth and was blown away by the difference in tone between my Warwick, Spectors and Lakland and a Fender J. It's not better, just different. Hope this thing sounds in the same ballpark / better. Excited to hear what Wizard pup's are like too
Nick will do just fine The Wizards were fitted prior to me buying the bass and they sound absolutely incredible. It's the best sounding Jazz I've played by a country mile -

URGENT: Bass Setup needed in Bristol
Old Horse Murphy replied to Old Horse Murphy's topic in Repairs and Technical
Thanks for the feedback guys I ended up speaking to Tom Rowlinson but unfortunately he's not taking any more work as he's moving up North shortly. He in turn put me in contact with Simon who used to do set ups at his place. Simon has very kindly offered to see me tomorrow so I'll let you know how I get on -
I need help I'm afraid I've got a big gig coming up on Friday and Saturday and have managed need some work done on a Stingray 5 string. I'm sure it's pretty simple, but I need the action looked at as it's rather high for my tastes. Whereas I have no issue with setting up basses such as Fenders, I always struggle with Stingrays and havemade things worse with my meddling. So, does anyone know of a tech in the Bristol area who could look at this for me at very, very short notice? There is a beer or 2 in it for anyone who can point me in the right direction

Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!
Old Horse Murphy replied to dudewheresmybass's topic in Effects
My small but perfectly formed pedal board. It includes a Bigshot I/o instrument selector, MXR Compressor, MXR M89 Overdrive, Digitech Synth pedal, Boss CEB-3 Chorus, EH Small Stone Phaser and a Boss OC-3 Octaver. It's all powered by a Pedaltrain Volto. Oh, and a black paw..... -
For sale is an "as new" G7th Capo for an Acoustic Guitar. It has only been used once and is in perfect condition. It's a wrap-around spring/clutch Capo, which means it offers a more even and accurate tone than a lever capo or an elastic one. Cost £22 new. Yours for £17 inc P&P

For sale is a a beautiful 1998 Musicman Unlined Fretless I have just acquired in a trade. If I didn't already have one, I'd keep this for sure as it's stunning. Despite being 16 years old, it's virtually spotless with only a tiny scuff on the lower edge (near the jack socket) that I have tried to picture the best I can. It is very minor though and other than that I can't see a mark on it. I genuinely don't think this bass has been used much at all, as it came with ancient strings on it. The fingerboard is Pau Ferro and agin virtually spotless. There are a few string marks but again, they're very faint and hardly noticeable. The back of the of the neck and headstock are a thing of beauty with the most gorgeous Birdseye Maple I've seen. It's a beautiful Teal colour and has just been strung with Fender light gauge Flatwounds (40-100's). Weight is around 9lbs (certainly only no more than an oz or 2 heavier if at all). It doesn't come with a case unfortunately, so I'd rather this was picked up or meet somewhere (based in Bristol during the week and Woking at weekends). Yours for £875 I'm not looking for trades on this, other than a Japanese Fender Marcus Miller or Geddy Lee Jazz up to the value of £450. Thanks for looking

My recently acquired Sandberg Ida Nielsen Signature. A completely impulsive purchase (popped in to Bass Direct on the way back from a Prince concert), but I've neve rplayed a bass like it. Rather pimped for my usual "missionary position" tastes, but wow!! Here is a recently acquired Sandberg Ida Nielsen Signature model (currently Prince's bass player). I saw Prince last night in Manchester and was totally blown away by the band, especially Ida. One of my bands has just folded, so I was very disillusioned with the whole thing until last night. As we were passing Bass Direct on our way back home I popped in as I knew Mark had an Ida Nielsen bass in stock. I must say, I was totally blown away, more than I have been by any other bass I've played. The build quality is sublime (hand-built) and the sounds from the active/passive circuit are incredible. It also weighs less than 9lbs, so is very light. Mark was kind enough to give me a more sedate pickguard too. Once we manage to get home tomorrow I'll plug it in and put my favourite strings on it

For sale is a beautiful 2014 Gibson USA Midtown Bass in Vintage Sunburst. It comes with a fitted Gibson hardcase in immaculate condition. The bass is only a month or so old, but unfortunately the project i bought it for has disbanded. It has been fitted with F[s]ender light gauge [/s] TI Flatwound strings and has a super action (very low and smooth). There is 1 mark on the bass (pictured) where there is a small scratch (3 cms long) in the nitro finish. It's not through the lacquer and goodness knows how it happened. Regardless, it's absolutely stunning in the flesh and still has that sweet nitro smell Here are some specs: - Chambered mahogany body with solid maple top and f-holes - Mahogany neck with slim, bass profile - Bound baked maple fingerboard with acrylic dot inlays - Powerful Vintage-style TB Mini and TB Plus pickups in the neck and bridge positions - Grover tuners and Shamrock keys with 20:1 ratio These are selling for £999, which IMHO is a steal for a US made bass. Due to the mark on mine, I'm looking for £800. It can be picked up from either Woking (weekends) or Bristol (weekdays).
