1. Today I was attempting to raise the bridge pick-up in my Jazz bass a bit, which involved replacing the foam under it (it had perished away a bit). In the process of doing this, two of the (three) wires have come away. How difficult is this to fix? Anyone got any recommendations for people who would do this? Also, I've noticed that the pickup is quite microphonic (especially in comparison to the neck pickup) - wax potting doesn't look too tricky - any good advice on how to do this? Edit: the pickup is a Bill Lawrence J45.
2. That's brilliant - especially when it gets to the chorus and actually looks like a mountain.
3. Hi Stu, I'm not looking to trade at the moment, but good luck with the sale! Cheers, Kenny
4. Just one other suggestion to throw in there - have you thought about adding a series-parallel switch to the Jazz? It's a reasonably straightforward modification, and gives you vaguely p-like tone as an alternative to the usual Jazz tones (and costs significantly less than the GASier alternatives!)
5. Bump - still here, but the girlfriend was looking at the walls last night and said "that picture doesn't really fit in that gap very well - you should hang that blue guitar there instead". So much for my plan of dealing with GAS by selling stuff - unless I sell this, I'll be dealing with GAS by buying more wall hangers!
6. Bump - still open to offers on this one - it's not getting used, and if I shift it, I can buy more goodies!
7. Yeah, it's loud enough to practice at home with, I'd say.
8. Hi Mike, It's slightly louder than a solid-body bass unplugged, but not as loud as an actual acoustic bass. In the past I've tried using it to practice with a guitarist on acoustic guitar, and it wasn't loud enough for that - ended up having to plug in.
9. Just sold my bass neck to Jono - he works nearby, so meeting up was easy, and he was a pleasure to deal with. Cheers Jono!
10. Mumford and Sons, you say? 11. Hi Jono, When I had it on a Warmoth Jazz body (same neck pocket dimensions as a standard Fender, there was a couple of millimetres between the overhang and the scratchplate.
12. Bump - this is still available, although the temptation to put together a bitsa is getting ever stronger...
13. Sold Charla my fretless Squier - great bloke to deal with. Speedy payment and comms - good to have a chat with him about bass as well! Cheers, Kenny
14. From the man himself:
the fender tele bass I used w/the minutemen and fIREHOSE was stole from my apartment in pedro when I was out on tour (actually, I was playing charlottesville, va that night) w/the crew of the flying saucer in the fall of 1995.

the neck was a '68 [Fender Telecaster bass] but it was the only thing original (plus the tuners)! the body was a heavy ash Schecter.
http://www.talkbass.com/threads/minutemen-firehose-tele-bass.61987/
15. I managed to get tickets for the Hydro, but a lot of people seem to have been unlucky - seems to have been a bit of pot luck whether you got the "no tickets available" message. I got the message in Firefox, but then got through straight away with Internet Explorer. I was using the TicketSoup site.
16. Bump - open to insulting lowball offers ;-) (I reserve the right to refuse them, but you never know...)
17. Another price drop, and open to offers. Something's got to go!
