1. another problem- 22frets on the SR5, 21 on the SR4. so you'd have the move the bridge, and you'd change the tone as the pickup would be in a different spot in regard to the strings. so, yeah, mod an OLP, or get a body custom made.
2. originally the Flea Bass was called the Sonichammer, before Flea fell out with Musicman (allegedly because they wouldn't give him a signature model) and switched allegiance to Modulus. so it's back to their own name for it.
3.
As he's had the neck off at least once (for the photos) is it possible that the neck hasn't gone back on quite square, hence the string alignment?
from the pics of the back of the body the neck seems to line up fine with the heel block, so i'd say it's the bridge placement to blame. also if the bridge was placed right (and the neck out) , the strings wouldn't be so out of centre with the pickguard screw by the pickup cover. yep, the precision never got 3 bolts- only Jazzes and the 70's (mudbucker) Tele bass.
4. I've just found a clipping of an article on the stingray from Guitar mag, that has a measurement I used for reference when I modded my Dearmond with an MM pickup- "the centre of the neck facing coil is 764.5mm from the fingerboard side of the nut".
5. trouble is, with the bridge and pickup covers on you can't tell where the problem lies and if it's fixable. edit, looking at the other pics it looks like the bridge and the cover were installed too far to the G side. 70's Fender quality control for you.
6. was the "JA ZZ BA SS" logo done using Letraset? and what's that small jazz bass lettering doing at the top edge of the headstock too? note where the string retainer is on that wide paddle headstock- when the strings are on (going through the Gibson-style nut) the D and G will be pushed sideways.
7. probably hard ash, hence the weight.
8. Elites have black silks- or at least they used to.
9. I reckon Justin Timberlake has a few copies of this album. eg. compare "rock with you" and "rock your body"
10. I see Nikki's gone upmarket with his controls since the Blackbird- 2 vol and an on/off switch?
11.
It might be that when they replaced the saddles (clearly replacements), they put the screws through the string holes, and the string ball ends through the saddle screw holes!? Wouldn't that shift everything over a bit!?
the ball ends look the right way round. why the E string is out of its saddle groove is odd. maybe it's a loose fit at the neck pocket, and the neck's moved over.
12. the strings are quite badly off-centre. are those squared-off bridge saddles replacements?
13.
Nope, standard one piece maple neck with no skunk strip
nice- puts them ahead of the Fender mex standards.
14. is there a skunk stripe on the rosewood board P and J?
15. there was one going in the UK- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HUTCHINS-BEAST-6-NEC...1QQcmdZViewItem sadly, no bids, even at just £549 BIN.
16. looks like an early 90's Korean Squier, which were awful.
17. yeah, i thought those were MIJ. there was also the HMT semi acoustic precision, which was fretted, sharkfin inlays with a pointy headstock.
18. I put an MM pickup in a Dearmond Jetstar special that originally had a P pickup near the bridge- there were gaps left which I covered up with a scratchplate.
19. speaking of the Ibanez ATK, isn't the neck coil right where a Rick bridge pickup would be, hence in single coil mode it might get near to the sound- although being active it'll be more bass+treble than the dry passive mid bite.
20. string bending must be odd, as when you bend a string its vibrating length will be changed depending on which way the frets are slanted, and which way you bend the string.
21.
Peter Jones knows a load of top guys at Sony - it's a no brainer?
http://www.recordoftheday.com/cgi-bin/rotd...37&expand=1 sounds like a deal is imminent.

23. Kumalo used an old Washburn fretless on Graceland, forget the model number but it had PJ pickups.
24. headless (Hohner B2A seen in avatar) is good for cramped stages, so I don't have to worry about smacking the headstock into PA or mic stands when going to the mic to sing.
25. here's their myspam- http://www.myspace.com/hamfatter "girls in graz" is alright. a bit Joe Jackson/Ben Folds. walking bassline could be more flowing though.
