1. I don't have the tab, but know the line well, here's Forbes & co. playing it back in 1982; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mubFaGE93Dk (6 songs from that Live in newcastle gig are on the Seen the lights double DVD) the intro riff at the 10th fret of the G and D strings is played an octave lower for the verse (on the D and A strings), and on the last bars pauses on the C and D, before going into the chorus, Bb, A, C, D in the choruses he also plays a D harmonic over the 5fret of the D string.
2. Mark Brzezicki, Stuart Copeland, Neil Peart Meg White? not for musical reasons, surely??????
3. on Sellaband you have to get 5000 people to invest $10 - but then couldn't they just pay $10 for a CD of your music instead? home recording setups are good and cheap enough for decent results if you know how to use them. is it just the novelty factor of these schemes that draws people in? or is it just a scam to get bands to bring traffic to the site so the ads get more exposure?
4. "Investors can gamble on, trade in and profit from the success of these artists" the key word being "gamble"- dunno, all that investment from fans could disappear if the company goes under. no guarantees with internet sites.

New Fenders

"Posiflex graphite rods"- I remember they introduced these on the Marcus Miller 5string- I thought the whole point of putting graphite in the neck is because it won't flex? ps. I see there's now an American standard 5string precision.
6.
You'll kick yourself when in ten years time the price of Shines have gone through the roof and all you can get hold of is an American made copy....
who knows....China's economy booming, US in trouble....
7. ah, I saw that 5 neck in Macari's a while back- IIRC the brandname they used was Hutchins and it was going for £499. I wonder if they'll get any more of the Galveston-brand stuff over- doublenecks etc.
8. how about a 2+2 mini machinehead arrangement to bring the overall length down? http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=390880
9. some nice ideas in Lullabay. I like the use of simultaneous different rhythms in Calomindia too.
10. a question about the SB301 design, can you put a Hipshot Detuner on one, and have it work properly? -as the E string machinehead is round the other way, and the string's on the outside... presumably you'd have to get a left-handed Detuner?
11. one thing about Bass Collections, can you put a Hipshot Detuner on them? - because the E string tuner goes the other way, and the string is attached on the upper side... you'd need a left-handed D-tuner, and would the string tighten/loosen the right way...my mind boggles...worth a post on the old SGC Nanyo thread...
12. careful, BC Rich might get ideas.....
13. meanwhile, the Bass Centre don't seem to stock Bass Collection basses anymore. IIRC they were charging £299 for them. it's £129 on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SX-SB301-Bass-Guitar...3QQcmdZViewItem
14.
How come John's solo stuff is so lame then?
mind you, Duran's recent stuff isn't so great either.....

RBX A2s..

I've got an RBX270F, and it's great for the money, but that AIR sales spiel looks a bit suspect....
16. I heard (from someone who's toured alongside JT's side project band the Neurotic outsiders) that Andy Taylor quit Duran recently as he was demanding more than the same 20% cut as the other 4 members, and they refused. also John writes all the music?

RBX A2s..

hot A.I.R. technology?
18. hmm, looks like the old Bass Collection SB301/Speakeasy, sourced from China. http://www.rondomusic.com/sb301.html
19.
Was planning on using my new SX Jazz as an everyday bass, but slipped with the screwdriver when changing the scratchplate... ...must learn not to go near a bass with a screwdriver...(did a similar thing with a strat last year )
isn't that called relic'ing, and people seem to pay good money for it ?
20. Nick Rhodes looks like Eddie Izzard now.
21. Hipsway, i think that was the guy from Altered Images, and then in Texas, Johnny McElhone.
22. I've tried using heavier picks, eg. 1mm and thicker, but I've found they're a bit too stiff for fast 16th note alternate picking eg. the basslines to Duchess, New Gold dream.
23. +1 to Derek Forbes, Paul Webb, Kevin Bacon, Mick Karn, Curt Smith, Barry Adamson, Andy McCluskey. Colin Moulding of XTC, Chris Cross of Ultravox.
24. next, pay to have the speaker cones in your amp aged with authentic tears and holes
25. Dunlop Tortex 80 or Peavey green 88 (cheaper than Dunlops) for me.
