Currently I run a pest control business specialising purely in commercial contract work alongside being in a busy function band. The pest control is my bread and butter and I love the stability it provides. I am a fully qualified joiner and cabinet maker and have also worked around the world as a snowboard instructor in winters and a kitesurfing instructor in summers. I swore I would never settle down and live in the uk but then I met the love of my life, completely by chance whilst living in Austria, and now we are settled with two perfect kids.

We virtually never turn down work but reasons would include: Unworkable noise limitations If accepting the booking would make it logistically impossible to get to or from another booking that has already been made. Venue or client making unreasonable and unworkable requests or stipulations. All our bookings are handled by an agent who we have worked with for years and who keeps our diary full. They know we will do everything in our power to make a gig work, our fee is non negotiable and they know exactly what our requirements are. 99 times out of 100 they can make the booking without consulting us but if, for example, they have a client who wants us to travel overseas or do something unusual they will give us a call. Obviously its likely that they are turning stuff down on our behalf if people contact them offering below our set fee etc. We turned down 1 venue last year due to our experience with their limiter that was set very low but accepted well over 100 (including many with much more sensibly set limiters). We did add 1 venue to our blacklist too. We even accepted a booking for Christmas day this year, much to the annoyance of our other halfs but all agreed that the fee was worth it. Unavailability of a band member is never an issue. We all arrange and pay for our own deps if we want to be unavailable. The band is a business and nobody has the right to stop other members earning.

I used to run two identical TKS 1126 cabs in the exact same colour with an Aguilar DB750. It was a glorious rig. Sold them all on here so wondering if I ever owned anything in this pic.

That's pretty poor. That's definitely not what should happen with any instrument let alone one at this price point.

I've never really considered the weight of my basses and only ever find out what they weigh when I put them up for sale.

I had the same issues with screws in mine about 2 years ago. I had to send the neck back because they had forgotten to fit the luminlay dots but the neck screws were so cheap that three of them sheared off and two of those were in at wonky angles. Ultimately the whole bass was returned because the list of faults was extensive. I must stress that Adrian was very good about it and after he inspected the bass he refunded me in full and gave me a little extra as an apology.

As soon as you get a mixer that allows you to control your own mix with a tablet you're in a great position to look at entry level iems. That will cost an awful lot less than a QSC k12 and almost certainly make your life easier. You can tweak away to your hearts content without upsetting anyone else in the band or the sound man.

Any decent active pa speaker will do a good job of a monitor provided you are feeding it with the right mix from the desk. I would never worry too much about having controls on the speaker because all your tinkering can be done either at the desk if it's an analogue mixer or via app if you have a digital mixer.

Lovely sound and great playing. I adore my bb1024x and should probably look at a 2024x at some point. If I can find one that is.

No, I have even tried switching lights on / off and moving around the studio. Nothing seems to make it worse or better. I've had loads of active basses over the years but this is the first time I've had an aguilar pre and the first time I've ever had a problem.

Depends on your mixer. Aux fed subs can be great as long as you're leaving enough auxes for monitors. If you have a master eq for the main l/r out then you can cut some lows out of the tops and only bleed a bit of kick and bass through the sub. Too much bass guitar in the subs can a pain so this way you have more control over what goes where. Personally I prefer aux fed subs because you have more control.

Anyone else had this? Just picked up a lovely Spector bass from the Basses For Sale forum and can't fault it other than the fact the preamp seems to struggle with interference. I've completely checked the shielding and wiring. It's all well done and there are no earthing issues. I just keep getting little crackles of interference every few seconds. The bass is great but pretty much un giggable as it is. A quick google suggests this isn't uncommon with the Aguilar pres and the Aguilar themselves are less than helpful with it. Any ideas?

£220 I'm having a bit of a clear out of basses as I have a few new ones incoming and could do with freeing up some cash. I bought this a few years back on this very forum. It is absolutely lovely but just a little unnecessary for me so I can't justify keeping it with a 5 string Dingwall soon to arrive. It's a lovely bass and these are so much better than the price would suggest. It's beautifully put together and has a full active preamp that has bass / treble and then a mid switch which activates a mid cut / boost circuit. Very similar in many ways to the way more expensive BBNE basses. I find the sound of this to be great at cutting through in a mix and it has lovely growl. Currently wearing some new Maruszyczyk strings. It is in really great condition with the exception of some scratches below the neck pickup that are hard to capture. With it being a natural finish without lacquer these could easily be lightly sanded out and the body re oiled. Weight is 4.2kg / 9.2lbs. I have an old gig bag that it will come with but no hard case. Collection preferred from NN12 (South Northants) where you are welcome to try it out with a nice amp and a cuppa. I also travel a lot for gigs so may be able to meet up somewhere. Courier also possible but at buyer's expense. Cash / Bank transfer / paypal gift accepted. No trades thanks. Can be seen and heard in this questionable video

I'm having a bit of a clear out of basses as I have a few new ones incoming and could do with freeing up some cash. I acquired this fairly recently from this very forum to go alongside my BB1024x. It is absolutely lovely but just a little unnecessary for me so I can't justify keeping it with a 5 string Dingwall soon to arrive. Anyone who knows the Yamaha BB range will know how well designed and built they are. The exact same materials as the much coveted BB2025x but without the vibration treatment and assembled in Indonesia rather than Japan. This and my 1024x are the only basses my bandmates regularly ask me to use. They just sound thick, punchy and solid (the basses not my bandmates). It also has a brand new set of DR HiBeams on it that have had less than 1hrs use. It is in really great condition with nothing more than a bit of swirling that is really hard to photo. It's the sort of thing that would vanish completely with a good polish. Weight is a reassuring 5kg. I have an old gig bag that it will come with but no hard case. Collection preferred from NN12 (South Northants) where you are welcome to try it out with a nice amp and a cuppa. I also travel a lot for gigs so may be able to meet up somewhere. Time to thin the herd a bit. Due to a couple of new basses incoming I'm putting a few up for sale. First up is my 2015 Stingray 4 string. The bass was made on November 19th 2015 and weighs 9lb 20z (4.2kg). I have owned it since September 2017 having bought it from the original owner who is also on this forum (Chilliwailer). It's not immaculate as i have probably done 100 ish gigs with it. It has been well looked after but there is one annoying little chip on the top edge of the body which I did myself when taking the strap off at the end of a gig. The straplock mechanism on my strap somehow flapped and hit the bass leaving the chip. There are two little dents (one on the tip of the top horn and the other about 2 inches from the chip on the top edge). There is also some scuff marks on the rear from shirt buttons which I think would buff out but are definitely currently visible. It sounds and plays great. The neck isn't as chunky as my previous stingray and has more of a chunky jazz bass feel then the usual baseball bat on a stingray. The east preamp is great and much more 70s stingray sounding then the factory 3 band preamp. I still have the original 3 band preamp and will of course include this with the sale. Currently it's strung with Ernie Ball Slinkys which have probably done about 12 gigs so well worn in but still very much alive. It also comes with the original hard shell case which has a few superficial scuffs having been to a good few gigs but is other than that completely intact. I also have a black pickguard which I will include too. Any questions at all just ask. No trades please. I will courier at buyers expense but I gig all over the uk so may be able to meet somewhere. You are very welcome to come and try it out here in South Northants. Payment by cash, bank transfer or paypal gift.

Pretty much exactly what they said to me when I linked them to the thread I had on here a few years ago discussing the awful issues I had with a kilo. Nothing ever happened, they just started ignoring my emails etc. Yes the distributor is poor but hartke themselves are pretty crap now too. I genuinely believe hartke ripped me and a load of others off with the kilo which they knew was flawed before they launched it. I lost £900 and never got so much as an apology.

I'd read this first. Personally wouldn't touch anything made by Hartke with a very long barge pole.

Going ampless, is it weird to not have a bass rig behind you?

If you have a half decent PA system then you'll be able to get a great foh sound and in ears are a joy for being able to hear everything. I wouldn't hesitate to ditch the backline. I did and, when I dep and need an amp, i quickly remember why ditching backline was so easy.
