  1. £220 I'm having a bit of a clear out of basses as I have a few new ones incoming and could do with freeing up some cash. I bought this a few years back on this very forum. It is absolutely lovely but just a little unnecessary for me so I can't justify keeping it with a 5 string Dingwall soon to arrive. It's a lovely bass and these are so much better than the price would suggest. It's beautifully put together and has a full active preamp that has bass / treble and then a mid switch which activates a mid cut / boost circuit. Very similar in many ways to the way more expensive BBNE basses. I find the sound of this to be great at cutting through in a mix and it has lovely growl. Currently wearing some new Maruszyczyk strings. It is in really great condition with the exception of some scratches below the neck pickup that are hard to capture. With it being a natural finish without lacquer these could easily be lightly sanded out and the body re oiled. Weight is 4.2kg / 9.2lbs. I have an old gig bag that it will come with but no hard case. Collection preferred from NN12 (South Northants) where you are welcome to try it out with a nice amp and a cuppa. I also travel a lot for gigs so may be able to meet up somewhere. Courier also possible but at buyer's expense. Cash / Bank transfer / paypal gift accepted. No trades thanks. Can be seen and heard in this questionable video
  2. I'm having a bit of a clear out of basses as I have a few new ones incoming and could do with freeing up some cash. I acquired this fairly recently from this very forum to go alongside my BB1024x. It is absolutely lovely but just a little unnecessary for me so I can't justify keeping it with a 5 string Dingwall soon to arrive. Anyone who knows the Yamaha BB range will know how well designed and built they are. The exact same materials as the much coveted BB2025x but without the vibration treatment and assembled in Indonesia rather than Japan. This and my 1024x are the only basses my bandmates regularly ask me to use. They just sound thick, punchy and solid (the basses not my bandmates). It also has a brand new set of DR HiBeams on it that have had less than 1hrs use. It is in really great condition with nothing more than a bit of swirling that is really hard to photo. It's the sort of thing that would vanish completely with a good polish. Weight is a reassuring 5kg. I have an old gig bag that it will come with but no hard case. Collection preferred from NN12 (South Northants) where you are welcome to try it out with a nice amp and a cuppa. I also travel a lot for gigs so may be able to meet up somewhere. Courier is possible but at buyer's expense. Cash / Bank transfer / paypal gift accepted. No trades thanks.
  3. Thanks Dan, Its really a lovely bass and the first stingray that I really gelled with. If I hadn't spent so much on new basses recently and didn't have my eye on another it would be staying for sure.
  4. OOOOps. My bad. Will do so now. Thanks Clarky
  5. Time to thin the herd a bit. Due to a couple of new basses incoming I'm putting a few up for sale. First up is my 2015 Stingray 4 string. The bass was made on November 19th 2015 and weighs 9lb 20z (4.2kg). I have owned it since September 2017 having bought it from the original owner who is also on this forum (Chilliwailer). It's not immaculate as i have probably done 100 ish gigs with it. It has been well looked after but there is one annoying little chip on the top edge of the body which I did myself when taking the strap off at the end of a gig. The straplock mechanism on my strap somehow flapped and hit the bass leaving the chip. There are two little dents (one on the tip of the top horn and the other about 2 inches from the chip on the top edge). There is also some scuff marks on the rear from shirt buttons which I think would buff out but are definitely currently visible. It sounds and plays great. The neck isn't as chunky as my previous stingray and has more of a chunky jazz bass feel then the usual baseball bat on a stingray. The east preamp is great and much more 70s stingray sounding then the factory 3 band preamp. I still have the original 3 band preamp and will of course include this with the sale. Currently it's strung with Ernie Ball Slinkys which have probably done about 12 gigs so well worn in but still very much alive. It also comes with the original hard shell case which has a few superficial scuffs having been to a good few gigs but is other than that completely intact. I also have a black pickguard which I will include too. Any questions at all just ask. No trades please. I will courier at buyers expense but I gig all over the uk so may be able to meet somewhere. You are very welcome to come and try it out here in South Northants. Payment by cash, bank transfer or paypal gift.
  6. If it wasn't collection only from somewhere quite so far from me I'd have this.
  7. Pretty much exactly what they said to me when I linked them to the thread I had on here a few years ago discussing the awful issues I had with a kilo. Nothing ever happened, they just started ignoring my emails etc. Yes the distributor is poor but hartke themselves are pretty crap now too. I genuinely believe hartke ripped me and a load of others off with the kilo which they knew was flawed before they launched it. I lost £900 and never got so much as an apology.
  8. I'd read this first. Personally wouldn't touch anything made by Hartke with a very long barge pole.
  9. If you have a half decent PA system then you'll be able to get a great foh sound and in ears are a joy for being able to hear everything. I wouldn't hesitate to ditch the backline. I did and, when I dep and need an amp, i quickly remember why ditching backline was so easy.
  10. Lovely. These are absolutely great basses and so much quality for the money.
  11. This is a gps streamer just arrived at bass direct. Same strings as yours it appears.
  12. And one of those belongs to me 😉 Paid for a 5 string with the three pickups and the aquamarine sparkle last autumn. Should be here sometime after April.
  13. Best of both worlds!
  14. 99% of my gigs are on in ears. I absolutely love them. So much better sound. Stereo in ear mixes are the best so i can pan everyone based on where they stand on stage and stick bass plum down the middle. I only really get to use backline for the acoustic set and when I do odd deps.
  15. When I picked up my R-400 I was really surprised by how small and not heavy it was. Perfect combination of light and compact whilst feeling super solid and has the sound advantages of a much heavier amp.
  16. I was trying not to say that but yes that's exactly what it is.
  17. I don't think anyone is saying they're not loud enough. Its about the way the big old amps make you feel the bass and the way they react to your playing in a way modern lightweight amps dont do so well.
  18. Are you saying that using in ear monitoring would result in a less impressive experience for the audience? If you're playing the big stages you say you are then surely in ear monitoring is something you have come across. On a stage that big near enough nobody hears your amp anyway. Your tone is pretty much completely at the mercy of the foh engineer. A decent quality pa system will wipe the floor with any bass amp whether it be vintage valve or modern class d. In smaller venues a decent pa can remove the need for any backline at all and make the whole thing even more impressive for the audience.
  19. Modern preamps can do some pretty good stuff. Modern lightweight power amps can't. I've been through the following (in no particular order): Genz Benz Streamliner 900 Darkglass m900 Markbass lm3 TC RH700 Genzler Magellan 800 EBS Riedmar Mesa D800 GK MB fusion 500 None of them came even remotely close to my old Trace SM250 so all got sold. My old Aguilar DB750 was an absolute class above even the trace but my final resting place is a Handbox R400 (small, relatively light but no class d in sight). For me, class d isn't worth the weight saving especially when the handbox is so close in terms of weight but so far above in terms of heft. Daren't try the WB100 as I'm pretty sure I'll be £1k lighter in a flash.
  20. Hartke should be banned from trading in the UK. Their contempt for uk customers is shameful and the whole "Kilo" issue was borderline criminal. Disgrace of a company that I would love to see go under.
  21. I avoid Mackie stuff after they refused to do a firmware update for the onyx 1640i which meant that when I changed my laptop to one running windows 8 I could no longer use the firewire connection. They literally told me to buy a newer version of the mixer. They can bo****ks if they think they'll have another penny off me again.
  22. I really wish I could but thanks to Brexit it looks unlikely that I will be able to. Ive looked at every option for getting a non uk passport and can't find any way. I'd give anything to get me and my family out of the uk permanently.
  23. I'll second the positive feedback for Andy. He just bought my Barefaced 210 in a really smooth transaction. A great "no nonsense" buyer with great coms. Thanks Andy!
  24. I don't have an allergic reaction but I do find that silicone tips can irritate skin in my ears. I just switched to foam tips and it solved the problem for me until I got custom moulds which were infinitely more comfortable than either.
  25. Yep still here 🙂
