And one of those belongs to me 😉 Paid for a 5 string with the three pickups and the aquamarine sparkle last autumn. Should be here sometime after April.

Best of both worlds!

99% of my gigs are on in ears. I absolutely love them. So much better sound. Stereo in ear mixes are the best so i can pan everyone based on where they stand on stage and stick bass plum down the middle. I only really get to use backline for the acoustic set and when I do odd deps.
-
When I picked up my R-400 I was really surprised by how small and not heavy it was. Perfect combination of light and compact whilst feeling super solid and has the sound advantages of a much heavier amp.
-
I was trying not to say that but yes that's exactly what it is.
-
I don't think anyone is saying they're not loud enough. Its about the way the big old amps make you feel the bass and the way they react to your playing in a way modern lightweight amps dont do so well.
-
Are you saying that using in ear monitoring would result in a less impressive experience for the audience? If you're playing the big stages you say you are then surely in ear monitoring is something you have come across. On a stage that big near enough nobody hears your amp anyway. Your tone is pretty much completely at the mercy of the foh engineer. A decent quality pa system will wipe the floor with any bass amp whether it be vintage valve or modern class d. In smaller venues a decent pa can remove the need for any backline at all and make the whole thing even more impressive for the audience.

Modern preamps can do some pretty good stuff. Modern lightweight power amps can't. I've been through the following (in no particular order): Genz Benz Streamliner 900 Darkglass m900 Markbass lm3 TC RH700 Genzler Magellan 800 EBS Riedmar Mesa D800 GK MB fusion 500 None of them came even remotely close to my old Trace SM250 so all got sold. My old Aguilar DB750 was an absolute class above even the trace but my final resting place is a Handbox R400 (small, relatively light but no class d in sight). For me, class d isn't worth the weight saving especially when the handbox is so close in terms of weight but so far above in terms of heft. Daren't try the WB100 as I'm pretty sure I'll be £1k lighter in a flash.

Hartke should be banned from trading in the UK. Their contempt for uk customers is shameful and the whole "Kilo" issue was borderline criminal. Disgrace of a company that I would love to see go under.

I avoid Mackie stuff after they refused to do a firmware update for the onyx 1640i which meant that when I changed my laptop to one running windows 8 I could no longer use the firewire connection. They literally told me to buy a newer version of the mixer. They can bo****ks if they think they'll have another penny off me again.
-
I really wish I could but thanks to Brexit it looks unlikely that I will be able to. Ive looked at every option for getting a non uk passport and can't find any way. I'd give anything to get me and my family out of the uk permanently.

I'll second the positive feedback for Andy. He just bought my Barefaced 210 in a really smooth transaction. A great "no nonsense" buyer with great coms. Thanks Andy!

I don't have an allergic reaction but I do find that silicone tips can irritate skin in my ears. I just switched to foam tips and it solved the problem for me until I got custom moulds which were infinitely more comfortable than either.

I always find these to have a very narrow body and fit most phone sockets when the phone is in a case https://www.amazon.co.uk/UGREEN-Headphone-Extension-Earphone-Smartphone-Black/dp/B00LM4ON2E/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?keywords=3.5mm+jack+extension+cable&qid=1579640309&sprefix=3.5mm+jack+&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFZODFFR0M3R0pKVjImZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTEwMzQzOTdDTVVMMFpNRTRCSkomZW5jcnlwdGVkQWRJZD1BMDcyMTE0NzJBVjZZSTY5NlVZOVomd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

As the owner of a pest control business I should probably point out that we have never seen so many field mice as we have this year. We have been inundated with calls from people who are finding mice in garages, lofts, outbuildings etc. I'd be wary about keeping expensive gear anywhere where mice can get to it. They do love a good chew.

I have to say that the DR neons sound good and certainly not dead at all. Not super bright (much like elixirs) but definitely like new strings.
-
Is the phone set up to have a stereo output or is it mono? Worth checking the settings?
-
I've got DR neons on one of my regular gigging basses and I really like them. I have High Beams on the rest. I moved to DR after Elixirs but as I liked the sound of the Elixirs I'm tempted to try them again. I also like the idea of a non neon or black coating.
-
That was my concern. I had some a few years back and they shed the coating but maybe it's worth me trying them again. I always really liked the tone and feel.
-
How do they fair if you use a pick?
-
Whoever is running the shop in Mark's absence has probably linked every amp and cab in the shop together and is doing a Marty McFly so can't hear the phone.
