Count me out. I'm under strict instruction from my accountant to spend some money on gear. Who am I to argue?

This. Just remember to change the password if you sack a guitarist or someone.

Oh yeah, if you're using an XR18 then I'd advise using a separate router. You'll get a much more reliable wifi connection that way.

I'll add to this that if they install the "x-air Q" app rather than the "x-air" app then they'll only be able to adjust monitor mixes and not do anything that affects front of house. I got all my bandmates using the Q version of the app in my last band and only had the regular x-air app open on the tablet that I used for foh.

Our show is pretty energetic so this is not our experience in general. It really is only the young crowds that tend to dance with their backs to us.

It is so bad these days that it has to be written into the contract with the client that should the client or their guests interfere with the band's equipment in any way, the band reserves the right to cancel the performance immediately and no refunds will be given. Luckily not something we have had to enforce yet although we have stopped songs a few times due to crowd interference.

Turns out this is really simple with the Allen and Heath desk. It's gone up a lot in my humble opinion since I worked it out.

Finally got my s**t together last month and sorted wiring so I now run in stereo. Like night and day from running mono. I'm the only one in the band using stereo and the others don't like change. Their loss.

Ordered a D-roc 5 string standard with the three pickup configuration from bass direct. Should be here next year sometime. Full bling aquamarine sparkle.

I think that younger generations have been bought up in such a different musical world that many really don't understand live music. I've done about 100 weddings so far this year and one thing that really sticks out is how much younger crowds have been influenced by DJs and nightclub / bar music. So often we find the dancefloor is full but nobody is facing the band. Everyone is dancing in little circles of mates like they would in a club. Then when a song ends they look really unsure as to what to do? They are so used to songs being mixed together that they can't get their heads around a break in the music. They almost seem embarrassed by the pause. Doesn't surprise me one bit that they see someone with an iPad and instantly assume that's where the music is coming from.

Age is irrelevant. What you need to decide is whether you want to be in a band, if so what you want out of a band and what level of commitment you can give it. I'm 43, run my own company, have a wife and daughter and my wife is currently 8 months pregnant. This year I joined a really busy function band and have played over 100 weddings all over the uk including gigs in Cornwall and one in Aberdeen. I can make it work and I'm enjoying it. I had to accept that in joining such a band I had to commit 110% . I don't get to choose which gigs I want to do. Everything that comes in has to be honoured. I had to balance loss of family time, loss of sleep and juggling gigs plus a busy work life with the enjoyment of playing live and the significant additional income that will allow my wife to have a long maternity leave. Just think about what you want out of a band then decide if you can make it balance. Forget age.

High beams on my precision. Love it to bits.

Can you pan stuff in your in ear mix without it being panned in the foh mix? Current band has an Allen and Heath qu16. If I could pan stuff in my in ear mix on that it would be killer.

Mark made a very long and wet drive down to mine to buy my Barefaced PA system today. He made the whole sale extremely easy and was a real pleasure to deal with. Top BCer.

Looks like a single driver per ear. I'd definitely be far more inclined to go down the kz zs10 route.

I'm not overly tall at 6ft1 but the two guitarists in my band are somewhat smaller at somewhere around 5ft 5 a piece.

You absolutely wont regret it. I love my UE6's

Actually the way in which he asked wasn't just a polite question. He was using terms like "thrown down stairs" and "mutilated " so it was clearly just poorly veiled criticism of other people personal choices.

Any P bass people want to comment on this?

It is a one trick pony. That trick is to work bloody well in a massive array of scenarios. -
Fine when it's a post asking for advice. Not fine when it's a post that is essentially just criticising other people's choices..........again.

This. Although the weakest link by far in a phone's audio recording capability is the internal mic, the sound card will also likely be pretty poor also. Pick a phone with a decent low light camera and find an alternative method for recording audio if you want anything more than 'poor' in the sound quality department.

It's simple economics surely and a pointless debate. Like relic basses or not, if there wasn't demand then manufacturers wouldn't be making them. Clearly some people like them and some people don't. Life would be pretty dull if we all conformed to liking just one thing.
