As long as I get paid and don't get stabbed I'm happy.

£100 Absolutely crazy little synth pedal. Massive array of sounds and tracks really well. Sadly not of much use in my current project. Will trade for a decent octave or eq pedal with appropriate cash adjustment. Comes with box but has velcro on the bottom rather than the little rubber feet. Postage to mainland UK included.

Lovely amp in really good condition with original box. Mountains of fat warm power on tap with a lovely valvey drive tone available. Has the usual intemittent blue leds but all works as it should. I'm throwing in a neat little backpack that has a padded compartment that fits the amp super snug and still has loads of room for your sandwiches and any other gig gear you might want to take. Collection from NN12 8XR or can post at buyers expense. Feel free to come and plug it in and give it a whirl. Price is firm at this time.

What exactly did You did after Your last gig ?
mrtcat replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
Literally doesn't concern me either way what you do. In my particular case, all my gigs are at corporate events and private functions. I'm not a guest or a customer. I'm simply there to do a job. -

It's work. I wouldn't expect an electrician or builder to do anything other than pack up and leave when his / her job was done. -

Same as every gig. Pack down as quickly as possible, load the van, get on the road, drive for a few hours listening to a podcast, get home and go straight to bed. -
£1200 ono Beautiful Maruszczyk Elwood L 5a 24 for sale. Super lightweight active jazz bass with a huge array of tones and a really low action without any buzzing and a lovely neck that makes this such a comfortable instrument to play. Purchased brand new from Bass Direct in 2016. I played it a fair bit in the first year and then changed bands for one where a beat up P bass was far more appropriate and this has largely sat in its bag ever since. It has a couple of minor dinks (all in photos) but is generally in great shape and sounds massive with both pickups in parallel mode. Just 3.66kg it has an alder body with a maple burl top and matching headstock in natural matte finish. The neck is hard rock maple with a birds eye maple fingerboard. Hardware as follows: - Pickups - Bassculture 38 HB Humbuckers with maple burl covers - Preamp - 3 band delano with 3 way mini switch for each pickup (series/single coil/parallel). - Bridge - Maruszczyk E45 - 18mm string spacing - Tuners - Wilkinson Currently strung with pretty much brand new Elixir Stainless Steel but also comes with the original Maruszczyk strings. Comes in the original Maruszczyk gig bag with all the original certificates and documentation. Collection from South Northamptonshire (near Towcester which is on the A43 halfway between J15a of M1 and J10 of M40) where I have a quality amp and cab that you can plug into. I gig quite a lot accross the country so may be able to meet up somewhere. I am absolutely not prepared to post this I'm afraid. Thanks for looking.

Google calendar. Simple, free and you can sync various accounts so nobody can say they didn't realise a gig was going to clash with their flat earth convention.

I guess we all have a different perception of what is old. My father is still a really active harmonica player and the youngest in both of his current regular bands at 84. He does a total of about 80 gigs a year and when I showed him this thread he was shocked that anyone feels like slowing down at a mere 68. Conversely, my father in law is 78 and really does see his retirement as "just waiting for the end to come". He's utterly pathetic and talks himself out of even being able to drive a car because he's too old.

I can only say positive things about my experience with Lugs. I started out with UE6s bought from Custom Iem Company and was very happy with them. After a couple of years they suddenly started sounding awful. All the bottom end had gone and I was having to drive them into distortion just to be able to hear them. I considered buying Lugs 6 driver model so contacted Robert. I explained the issue I had with my UE6s and he suggested that my ear shape had probably changed a bit making it so I was no longer getting a good seal. He offered to test them to check all was working inside and confirmed all components were functioning properly. I got my ear impressions redone by a local Audiologist (anyone in Northamptonshire I can highly recommend The Ear Place in towcester) and sent them to Robert at Lugs. Within a week he had reshelled my UE6s and now they sound better than they ever did. Saved me a fortune in buying new ones and have done probably 100+ gigs since with nothing but excellent sound. I sing a lot too and have never had any issues.

I mean, if the money's good then do what they want but thats pretty much a guaranteed way of playing to a half empty dancefloor. You'll have to start from scratch 5 times and as soon as you get them going you'll be saying "this is our last song before we take a 30min break". Sounds like a landlord who doesn't really have much experience of how itll work.

Xmas staff do for a haulage company last night at the M1 Junction 23 truck stop nr Loughborough. Entering the venue was like stepping back in time to the 1970s but a good bunch of people and a very easy gig.

Played under Concord last Friday for a Xmas bash.. Not all companies are struggling. £250k budget for the staff party.

I'm inclined to say it won't be enough. The thought of wringing everything out of a pair of Behringer active cabs, to get both vocals and keys heard, over the top of acoustic drums in a room like that would not fill me with joy. Any option to hire?

Just bought an amp head from Jim. Top quality comms from start to finish and lightning quick postage. Amp came packaged perfectly and in tip top condition. Hope to deal with him again. Great BC'er and a pleasure to deal with.

That's proper customer service and really it should be the norm. Sadly it seems, more often than not, to be the exception.

John East is one of the nicest companies to deal with. John is a true gentleman and responds quickly to all enquiries and, as many of us know, his products are ace. I'm fortunate to live relatively close to his HQ and have popped in a couple of times over the years. He happily fitted my pre for me while I waited. My biggest service gripe is when I pop into music shops and the person serving me is so distracted that they barely look me in the eye and they make me feel like I'm just an inconvenience that they're only happy to serve because it will get rid of me quicker.

Worst gig ever on weds. Wedding in a swanky tipi in a beautiful setting. Forced to use in house PA and no backline. Like so many venues they send details to the bride and groom stating "we have a state of the art in house sound system with over ten trillion watts of power and speakers hand crafted by angels using components delivered direct from the gods". The reality was that it was all cheap junk and limited to the point that the stereo in my old 1989 mini had more clout. Couldn't keep up with a drummer using brushes. If you ever get enquiries to play at Hadsham Farm Weddings near Banbury just walk away and say no thanks.

Two more weddings over the weekend. Friday - The West Mill in Derby. Played here a bunch of times before. Load in up a flight of stairs which is mildly inconvenient but the fact that guests are eating on a completely different floor and therefore not bothering us is more than compensation. 95db limiter but in reality its not a bad one and we definitely were over that all night without any issues. Bride, groom and guests were rough as anything and, fueled by lots of booze and an abundance of Colombian nose powder, they did pretty much everything in the book to be as obnoxious and downright rude as possible. Venue were very keen to tell us the million rules we were forbidden from breaking and not even remotely interested in doing anything about the blatant drug usage going on. We did the minimum and packed up and got out of there. Saturday - Upthorpe Woods nr Bury St Edmunds. Unusual outdoor woodland venue which would have been ace in anything other than Saturday's torrential downpours. We set up in the only real indoor space which was essentially a huge shed with a hollow wooden floor and a tin roof. Acoustics sounded like a huge shed with a hollow wooden floor and a tin roof. Bride, groom and guests were perfectly pleasant but not the wildest bunch you'll ever meet. Best part of the night was the pizza and the 11pm curfew. Home by 1am was definitely a welcome bonus. This coming weekend we are in Maidstone on Friday and then Ceredigion on Saturday so will spend most of the weekend driving. Oh the joys.

Post covid was a really rough time where it was like everyone had been let out of a cage and was hell bent on being as unpleasant as possible. We do have good weddings but the majority are not really all that great anymore. Between unpleasant guests and hostile venues with over the top limiters it's not as fun as it used to be. Maybe I'm getting too old or jaded.
