Willie Weeks. From 8.30 - absolutely my favourite solo ever.
-
That's really kind gents, thank you. If you did get a chance to send me some pics that would be great. I'm going to stand polite but firm because I've not only paid for the bass but also an extra £26 to send the neck back, after they forgot to install the luminlays, and then a further £68 to send the bass back to the workshop in Poland.
-
Probably not but I don't really want to appear to be threatening him in any way.
-
Just had a response from Adrian. He accepts there is an issue with the body but says there's absolutely nothing wrong with the luminays. I genuinely can't believe that he really believes that. They look terrible. He has asked me to send a picture of luminlays that look better. I have asked for a refund but he seems to be getting a bit argumentative over it.
-
Yes I'll also admit to being a bit remorseful now. I've had to chase him after my bass arrived back at his workshop two weeks ago. Whilst we can all see that the luminlays were poorly fitted he has argued that they can't possibly be poorly fitted as the luminlays are 3mm dots that were retro fitted over 2mm dots. He also said that the poor fitting neck pocket should be accepted as after all these are hand built guitars not cnc made parts. I'm pretty certain that I'm going to opt for a refund. I don't feel confident that they'd get it right second time around. It's a real shame because the Elwood L I had previously was absolutely perfectly made.

Leaving Florence on Monday only to miss...

We played at the Onda Rd in Passingnano Sul Trasimeno last summer as part of the summer music festival. Going back next year where we'll be playing in both Tuoro and Assisi. Beautiful part of the world and some smashing backdrops. -
Mines been back at Maruszczyk since Tuesday last week and not heard anything from Adrian yet. I'll drop him an email this afternoon to see what his thoughts are.

Our guitarist just picked a full fat helix up 2nd hand from one of the online guitar shops with a proper line6 case for £820 including delivery. Still had the plastic screen protectors on. Can't see myself ever getting rid of mine.

Aaaaand?

As long as a proper sound check is done then shouldn't be an issue. With digital mixers you can save everything and recall it at a gig. I do FOH for all our gigs and my in ear mix barely changes from venue to venue. Once the soundcheck is done I can usually tweak my in ears mix after the first song and then I'm set. There's a massive thread about this already in the Accessories & Misc forum btw.

New quads. Yeah, I found the wraps very effective but really uncomfortable. I think my iems are only very marginally loose so I could do with something a bit less bulky. Maybe just a very fine wrap of a plyable electrical tape or something.
-
I'm very tempted. May have to give him a shout at some point.
-
Really good value for their 4 ba driver customs too if they're as good as they look.
-
Yeah his response has been very good so far. I'd be perfectly happy to have the exact same spec but just without any of the issues.
-
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the luminlays look like stick on dots. In all fairness Adrian has replied to my email within 5 minutes and agreed to take it back and look at the issues. He has said that if it can't be sorted to my satisfaction I can have a refund. I'm impressed with his response.

Well sadly I have had to email Adrian and ask him to take my Elwood 5C back and either rebuild it from scratch or give me a full refund. The build quality has been a huge disappointment and I've just noticed a big circular lump has appeared under the paint on the rear of the body. Also the shaping of the cutaway on the back and the rounding of the back edge is very uneven. My gripes are: 1. Circular lump has appeared on the back 2. Neck pocket has significant gaps around it 3. The luminlays (which were retro fitted after they missed them on the spec sheet) look like they were fitted by a child 4. The refinish of the neck (after retrofitting luminlays) looks like it's been filed away where the fretboard starts in order to remove overspray. 5. There is wood texture noticeable through the paint. 6. The body shaping is uneven in places. We will have to wait and see how Adrian responds but I'm hoping he will accept that this isn't up to standard and do the right thing. Pics can be seen here https://photos.app.goo.gl/LEiDaguYHFM6b3XB7

We only really rehearse once every couple of months and, as we're just a 4 piece, if someone is unable to make it we cancel and rearrange. We gig 1-2 times a week tho so rehearsal is purely for adding new material. We usually add 10 songs in a single rehearsal to make it worthwhile. I don't mind rehearsal if it's productive but could never be in a band that rehearses every week or more often than it gigs.

1. Paid gigs 2. Marketing 3. Administration 4. Rehearsal 5. Maintenance of pa & lights

Who "flounced" out? I just didn't bother looking. I don't feel any need to discuss it with the shop as it's their loss not mine. I don't see why it's upsetting you so much that you feel it's ok to be fairly offensive in your response. This whole thread is pretty much about people's mixed experience of Bass Direct so my original post simply tells of my own experience.

Wow. No biggie, I recognise your tone from some of the "sales assistants" in multiple shops that ultimately went bust due to lack of customer loyalty as a result of awful customer service😁

Very much on my radar.

They know and recognise me as someone who has spent a lot in there over the years, probably £5k to date and I've also sold stuff to staff. It was reasonably busy but it's not a customer's job to convince a shop and it's staff that they're worthy of being welcome. Everyone is a potential customer when you are running a business whether they spend today, tomorrow or years down the line. If they're having a bad day then they need to be professional and suck it up a bit like the rest of us in our professional lives.

May not be the best on the market but this looks like quite an affordable way in for custom moulds. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007KLXMDE/ref=sspa_dk_detail_5?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B007KLXMDE&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_p=2784349025056798016&pf_rd_r=BH616H5AJF7W988XKYGZ&pd_rd_wg=TKUft&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&pd_rd_w=446hs&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pd_rd_r=b21818ba-755a-11e8-90e8-ef1b20bdf314 I'm possibly going to upgrade my custom moulds in the next few months and am currently considering options. Budget about £800 and want something with plenty of lows.

Just bought a lovely immaculate Yamaha bass from Gerry. Absolute top chap with great coms and the bass was packaged to perfection. All arrived on time and it's clear that Gerry really looks after his kit. Many thanks!!
