1. Genuinely mystified as to why that hasn't sold a dozen times over. It's a cracking bass.
2. It's absolutely lovely Lee and am really happy to keep it if it doesn't go. I just need a classic looking Jazz and my only other bass is the YOB precision my family bought me for my 40th which obviously I can't sell.
3.
We show up 1.5 hours before we start our first set. That usually is plenty of time to set up. We scale lights an pa to the size of the bar/club. Blue
This is pretty much the way we work too. However, as we play a lot of weddings it's very common for us to be sitting outside ready to start setting up whilst everything inside over runs. We then get the nod from the organisers to set up only to find they want us on in half an hour lol. That's why weddings command a bigger fee but that adds just a tiny bit more pressure.
4. Had one. Sounded great but totally unusable anywhere with even a single step let alone a flight of stairs.
5.
Snap exactly the same here. Hartke Kilo = the worst pos I have ever had the misfortune to own. For me Hartke don't exist & Larry Hartke along with them.
+1,000,000
6.
And i thought i was the only one that had pathetic customer service from Hartke. My Kilo didn't work at al and returned it to Thomann but had to pay the return post and the exchange costs from Europe. Hartke did not even respond to various requests thru their website and even tried direct to the man himself and nothing there either. Totally against Hartke because of that and wouldn't touch them again. Hartke has been my worst experience of any amp. Dave
I knew I wouldn't be alone in this. Absolutely atrocious service and a flawed product. I'll happily let the world know just how poor hartke really are.
7. This is a really interesting thread. I pretty much take full responsibility for setting up pa and lights. On most gigs I can load in early and take my time. I try to get there ahead of the band as they all just get in the way. I find it therapeutic and if it goes well I really enjoy the whole night and relax into my playing. If we can't load in early and it becomes a rush then I can get pretty stressed and find that it totally buggers me up for the show and both my playing and enjoyment suffer. I'd love to have a method for calming myself quickly after a stressful setup.
8. Passive Jazz now found so I don't need to sell this hence withdrawal from sale. Absolutely gorgeous and super light bass. Only selling as I really need a passive jazz so will be using proceeds to fund another Maruszczyk order. Weighs 3.48kg (7lb 7oz) so super light and comfortable. Alder body with flamed maple top and matt finish. Maple neck with matt finish and maple fingerboard. Bassculture pickups with active 3 band delano preamp. Three way toggle switch for the humbucker (series / single coil / parallel). Monorail bridge with 18mm string spacing. Build completion date 04-01-2017. One small mark on the rear of the body (pictured) and a tiny scratch on the top of the body which looks like a hair (pictured) otherwise as new condition. Comes with all certification, original gig bag, Maruszczyk strap and I still have the boxes it was shipped in so can offer postage (within the UK only I'm afraid unless you want to arrange your own courier). Sorry - no PayPal accepted. Collection from NN12 (Silverstone Northants) preferred and you are welcome to come and try it out without obligation to buy. 9. Two setups for me. 1. BASS - Aguilar DB750 - Eden 410 2. (and rapidly becoming rig of choice) BASS - Helix - Pa The helix is ridiculously good. SVT for rock, GK GB800 for funk, Ampeg B15 for motown, squeaky clean for pop. All at the touch of a foot switch.
10.
Gee man, that second statement is strong. I'm married, but if I made the same statement, I would certainly be alone 😢😢😢
You see, I'm with Blue on this one. My wife is absolutely fine with it and we have small children. If i commit to a band then I take that seriously. If we have a night out planned and a gig offer comes in then the night out gets moved. If i don't take the gig or at least get a dep to cover it it means that 5 other people can't earn. My wife knows that the money I earn from gigging pays for holidays, her car and other family expenses.
11.
As he was the main founder of the band and probably the leader when i joined i didn't see the point in continuing without him
The guy that started our band who led us to our first gig quit after 6 weeks. We've been together 12 yrs and have done over 900 gigs. Don't quit yet.
12. I have no time for band members who don't update their availability. I insist that all the guys in our band update the Google calendar every time they find out that they're not available for any date / dates. I do all the bookings pretty much, although everyone in the band is perfectly able to book gigs, and I always use the calendar as the guide to our availability. If someone doesn't keep it up to date and I take a booking then they either have to cancel their other plans, arrange a dep or contact the client and explain why we can't do it. If I'm going to bust my hump keeping us busy then I'm not having them mess me about. If i was in the OPs position I would be mighty hacked off but experience has taught me to sleep on things first. You also have to assess the individual member's worth to the band. If the drummer is a great player and a real asset to the band then I'd have to bite my lip but if he's nothing overly special and a serial offender I'd be inclined to give it to him straight.
13. Both Fearful and BFM designs are great. I've had both designs but currently run a fearful cab that I built myself and it's absolutely exceptional. Super light, very handsome and sounds killer.
14. Good to hear, although I was really disappointed to have bought some plectrums from SD last week, paid £2.99 for postage and it took 5 days to receive them. If they had put them in a normal envelope, bought a single first class stamp and put them in the post that day I'd have had them in less than 24hrs.
15.
Many years ago i used to play in a band with Chas's daughter Juliet on keyboards. We rehearsed in the barn/studio at his house weekly - every now and then Chas, Dave and Mickey would turn up late at night with a box of cigars, a few bottles of brandy and a pack of cards (for the ongoing poker tournament) and kick us out saying they were just going to write and record the next album. I used to hang about a bit after and watch and they were all stunning players. They would literally just lock themselves in until they were finished. We used to pile in the house after rehearsals and scoff toast and tea with the family (his wife Jo was an ex Playboy bunny girl i think) - and i remember they had a big open fireplace with a really old Precision stuffed in the corner of it right next to the flames. A lovely group of people - very grounded and unaffected by it all but fantastic company
Did they have a nice sideboard?
16.
There was a 750 going recently in the FS section which I was very tempted by, but couldn't really justify the spend, but some lucky chap snapped up a (relative) bargain. Do you still own one?
Funnily enough, that's mine in the FS section. I've had to hold it for now as there's a big delay on my Barefaced FR800s due to the drivers not being made yet so I need an amp to see me through a load of gigs in October. Really considering keeping it tho if I can raise funds elsewhere.
17. Best is an aguilar DB750, worst was an ampeg svt6 pro and most disappointing was a hartke Kilo which sounded awesome in the brief periods where it worked. Sadly a flawed design coupled with the single worst customer service I've ever experienced (and I've had a few bad experiences) left me £800 out of pocket just four months after buying it brand new.
18. The excellent MXR bass preamp and the soulfood still remain available.
19. Wow, that's a beauty and what an array of tones on tap. If I had the cash i'd seriously be considering this one.
20. I played a friend's lull precision a couple of years ago. After two minutes I handed it back and made him promise to never let me play it again. It was pretty much perfect in every way and I just haven't got the money to buy one.
21. Depends on the tops. The RCF 322s don't have an HPF option so they would be running as full range. You could then feed the power amp from the "through" output from the tops. Alternatively you could run the subs from an aux send on the desk and the tops from the main l/r out. If it were me I'd be inclined to go either all active or all passive. If you want to mix active and passive then using a basic crossover (the behringer ones mentioned above would work fine) would take the pressure off the tops.
22. At the risk of getting in trouble (although I've paid my £20 again recently) for advertising, I've got a pair of RCF art 322a tops for sale.
23. The two pros I play with are two of the nicest, most supportive and positive people I have the pleasure to know. In particular our guitarist who also does some really big gigs for some fairly big names is so humble and pure class even when we're playing those tough gigs in pokey venues with indifferent audiences.
24. Oooh now that's a bit special.
25. Late to the party but 1 set ordered. Thanks for the heads up.
