1. £650 Reluctant sale of this amazing cab. It's in good condition and comes with a fitted cover, which is a bit crumpled but still in tact and does the job it's designed to do. It sounds absolutely beautiful and has heft, punch and size in big creamy truck loads. Potential buyers are welcome to come and try it at a decent volume. No postage as it's rather large so collection or meet up within reason. Will deliver for free within 50 miles of Silverstone in Northants. TRADE OPTION: Old hefty combo (trace elliot or similar - not Hartke tho) + cash my way. 2. I've got a very similar Elwood L but with bassculture pickups and a 3 band eq. It's a beautiful thing and the build quality is remarkable. This is a very good price for what is an extremely versatile and comfortable top notch bass.
3.
did you use them with proper cab models or IRs ?
I used them with a sansamp and then tried them with a line 6 pod with speaker sits. Finally I tried them through a digital mixer using the built in eq. Tye problem is that the yamaha are really designed as tops and need a sub to get the bottom end you can get from a bass cab.
4. My DB750 is the best amp I've ever owned or played by some margin. I'd expect this to fly out the door.
5.
For the money a decent quality powered cab' would cost you, you're probably better off with a separate class D head and cab. Won't weigh much, if anything, more, you can use it as just a power amp (use the FX in) and cab if need be, but it will do the full standalone job should you need it. I picked up a mint, hardly used Bugera 1001 head for a coupla hundred, which I use as a power amp to drive additional cabs and which doubles as a spare head if mine goes down.
That's definitely a sensible call. Thinking maybe a nice combo that doesn't have too much of a coloured cab sound and an fx loop might work.
6. I had dxr12s but they didn't sound great for bass at all. We've got some rcf745s which do sound great with bass but they're the main pa cabs and as I don't own them outright I can't take them for dep gigs which is where I'd need backline.
7. As I venture further and further into the world of in ear monitoring I'm becoming more and more tempted to ditch my amp. There will always be odd occasions where I need one tho so I'm thinking of going down the preamp pedal route with a powered cab I can just plug in whenever I need backline. The Barefaced fr800 looks absolutely perfect but is pretty pricey. Is there another option for powered cab I should be looking at?

Dave made me a really cool cable as a solution for iems and instrument in a single lead. Fantastic service and a beautifully made cable. Thanks Dave!
9. Just traded my tks cabs for daves Nv610. Super easy chap to deal with and a very nice guy to boot. Thanks Dave
10. Whoop, paid a visit to Paul at CIEM in Stanstead Abbots today and had the ear impressions done for re-shelling my UE900s. Nice guy and very professional. 6 week wait now whilst my UE900s are sent to California to be transformed into custom moulds. Anyone considering doing this should be aware that the £199 quoted for reshells will rise to £300 by the time you factor in the required impression work and new cables (existing ones won't fit once they are reshelled.
11. Seriously considering picking up two 4ohm retro two 10 cabs as my modular set up. The one I tried before Christmas was very very nice.
12. Basschat needs another for sale section for kidneys. I'd sell one in a heartbeat for either of these.
13. I think EBS freak is probably absolutely right here. I use the 905s and they are really solid subs. It's very unlikely that you will make them fart out with the bass especially with all your HPFs in place and the subs crossed over at 80hz unless you are really hammering it hard. Are you able to run a test tone through the sub to check that the driver is ok? If it is then the built in protection shouldnt allow the sub to fart out unless you are putting in a distorted signal.
14. Right so the nearest I'm getting right now is by using Bank 0 Prog 1 with a few tweaks (dial envelope depth back to 2, note off level to 1, attack to 3, decay 8, dynamics 3, cutoff 6, resonance 2 and balance 2) and then using an mxr bass preamp later in the chain with a bass boost and mid cut to fatten the whole thing up. It's far from perfect but its at least useable in the mix with the band. I also use the same setting for Lets Groove by Earth Wind and Fire which really shows it's not quite the 80s sound I have been chasing. I'll keep looking and if anyone finds a way then let me know!
15.
What about a Maruszczyk bass. You can have pretty much what you want and decent value too?
+1 you can have whatever you want with a maruszczyk and adrian will accomodate all of your requirements.
16. My Limelight p is hands down the best p I've ever played. This will be a beaut and the light relic is really nicely done.
17. I've had flats on a Jazz before and really liked the fatness of the sound. Definitely not taboo, it certainly works and makes sense to me. It may will undoubtedly tame the burpy bridge pickup sound a bit but to my ears that was on improvement.
18. Wow, Darkheart that's an amazing offer and really kind, Thank you. I think we have decided that both guitarist and I ate going to order Harley Bentons from Thomann and have them delivered to the villa were going to be staying at (I know the owner pretty well) and take a few tools so we can set them up. After the gig we can either mail them back to ourselves or donate them to a local school. Thanks so much to all who have advised it's definitely much appreciated.
19. Thanks all. An extra seat would be £170 so not an option. Whatever I go for needs to be headless as a headed neck won't fit in the case I'm afraid.
20. I have a gig in Italy this summer. Flying Ryanair so I don't want to take anything valuable and don't want to pay the £100 to take a guitar only to have it destroyed by baggage handlers. Thought about getting one of these kits http://www.guitar-warehouse.ie/product_detail.asp?ProductID=725&CategoryID=43 and removing neck so it packs into a suitcase. I have one of those old hard shell cases so no problem to fit it in what with it being a headless neck. Not expecting great things but with a bit of setting up etc could it be good enough for a gig?
21.
Have a look at http://websynths.com/ Bass preset 004: Far Bass without the reverb sounds like a similar sound, maybe you could use those settings as a jumping off point?
Thank you so much Gareth, that's awesome and much appreciated.
22. I need to get something that approximates the bass synth sound from "Material Girl" by madonna from my Future Impact pedal. Does anyone have any settings suggestions? I'm really new to synth sounds and it's blowing my mind with all the different possibilities but I'm yet to get close to what I want. Something like this: https://soundcloud.com/tom-caswell-3/material-synth Any help massively appreciated.
23. Happy to rehearse if there's something that needs sorting. In that situation I want to see a proper plan for the session and it needs to be focused and productive. Rehearsal on a weekly basis is, in my experience, rarely beneficial. If drummer and bass player are good then being tight should be possible after very limited time together. If you have to rehearse week in week out to get tight then there's a limiting factor at play somewhere.
24. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to make this. Will bring a nice limelight P and Maruszycyk Elwood L. Can also bring an Aguilar DB750 plus TKS cabs if there's not too many amps already. What's the etiquette with cake? Should I get MrsTcat to knock something up?
