Upbeat and popular is a must for 1St song for me. Even better would be a lively medley.
PJB Bighead with PJB headphones and music via an iPad app is working for me. (Also works with an iPhone) I'm using an app called Anytune which allows you to vary tempo and pitch as well as set loops within the song to practice with etc as well as a step change function for practicing tricky passages and then speeding up slightly in increments which you can set. I'm using a tablet stand from Ikea which keeps it all nice and compact.
Trying to understand why you have my set list on your ipad lol

Recording of a dep that the singer from my band and I did on Saturday. Easy to learn the set because they use backing tracks so they sent us the tracks and we were both able to run through a few bits on our own before the gig. Went well despite the drummers best attempts at making us laugh to put us off.

I'll do a review tomorrow when I sober up a touch but have to say they were brilliant. All of the band are extremely talented guys who move seamlessly from one instrument to another. Joe Dart is a brilliant player but he plays entirely for the song and grooves so well. It was awesome to see the whole place bouncing and singing along to their stuff and even the band seemed genuinely surprised at just how popular they are. I get the feeling that Joe Dart may well become a first choice session player for really big names soon.

Sorry :-(. Lol

As it says. Anyone else here at brooklyn bowl? Lovely small venue for a cool band.

Yamaha BBG5's are a far better instrument than their price tag would suggest. You may well have to take a bit of a financial leap to get anything that is really significantly better. That said I really do like the Maruszczyk and you get a lot of bass for your money.
I own the PA... I charge the band for hire
Likewise and I charge for loading and unloading time at home too. There is however no right / wrong answer to the OP's post only whatever arrangement works for a particular band. To appoint a new band member on what they own rather than what they can add musically is nuts though and the OP's prospective band would be better off finding a bass player first and then sitting down and arranging how they are going to sort a PA.

Great fun wedding in Oxfordshire. Little audio medley recorded from the night below. For those who look down upon covers bands, don't even bother listening lol - stereotypical covers band content - 1st two songs alone will make you sick!!

Played a wedding at Bicester Garrison officers mess last night. The groom and his father were both in the forces and we were booked on recommendation. We have also played in Cyprus for the RAF Christmas bash twice after the chap in charge of ents saw us at a wedding. As has been mentioned before, the person who books ents changes often and therefore it's usually a one off if you get booked. We were told that they prefer non rock bands mostly as squaddies get feisty quite easily so party bands with good humour are often picked.

NBD - Limelight Precision/Jazz/Stingray frankenstein build
mrtcat replied to Clarky72's topic in Bass Guitars
This thread has (to me) some of the coolest basses I've seen on this forum. Clarky72 that looks killer. I love Mark's work and that looks like is should be awesome. -
Played with a stingray at a wedding last night and it reminded me of what an idiot I was to sell my old one. Sounded great with all the authority and punch you could ever wish for. Drummer was loving the growly funky Stingrayness of it. Yes you need one.

Aguilar Db750 and 2 x TKS 1126. Job done.

The super compact has a usable frequency range up to 4khz. I'd be surprised if you couldn't dial in the top end you are looking for with a decent eq.

I opted for the behringer x-air over the Mackie because Mackie has a history of not offering driver updates on its products. As operating systems move on the Mackie gear can become defunkt. I owned an onyx 1640i which I had to ditch when I brought a new PC and they didn't offer a driver update to make it compatible with Windows 8. When I asked them for help their only advice was to fork out £1100 on a new version of the same mixer.
I wonder if any of them are compatible...?
You'll only know if you can find the tech spec of the original driver I'm afraid. Can the original driver be repaired?
Oft said but- you're only as good as your drummer.
End of discussion for me. This is the bottom line.

Personally I don't get to go out much on a Saturday because I'm gigging but when I do get the chance i always try to watch live music. The problem for me is that a night out is very expensive these days so if I'm going out I'm going to spend a little extra and buy tickets for either a show or a gig that I really want to see. I can't justify spending £50+ for a night out watching originals bands on the off chance i might like them. If beer was still £2 a pint and entry was free then I'd definitely take a punt on a few bands I know nothing about but it's just not like that anymore.

Old mate/band dilemma - jazz content
mrtcat replied to Beer of the Bass's topic in General Discussion
Just talk to him. He may just be enthusiastic about playing with you and think that this project is what you want. At the end of the day if you're honest with him and don't just ditch him he'll most likely be cool with it and you may find another more mutually beneficial direction. -

Paul just bought my Spector and was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Great comms, quick payment and he's clearly a very organised buyer. Would buy or sell with him anytime without any reservations.

Just bought Tom's Stingray from him. Absolute pleasure to deal with all the way through and im absolutely stoked with my new ray.
