2.
I suppose a courier is out of the question?
I could probably courier them but it would possibly be quite expensive. Where are you? I may be able to arrange something.
 3.
I can personally vouch for the quality of mrtcat's cabinet building - they are superbly put together. He's also a very nice chap to boot
Thanks so much did you get the fearful cab up and running in the end? I got to play with one of the fearless 212's not so long ago and it's definitely on my want list now.
 4.
No worries, all sorted.
Much appreciated thank you
Very nice indeed! Great colour.. GLWTS
Thanks silverfoxnik, I love the colour but if it's not to someone's liking I think I also have some black tuff cab in the stores that I can throw in.
 5. Musicman Stingray 5HH in honeyburst with rosewood fretboard. A total joy to play and beautiful to look at. I took this in a trade from a really nice BCer and I'd love to keep it but I I'm just not using it as much as I'd hoped I would. It weights 4.9kg / 10.8lbs. It's set up really nicely with a low action and being the HH model it's ridiculously versatile. There is a small chip in the rear by the strap pin, other than that it's in really really good condition. I requested the details of manufacture from the Ernie Ball forum and here's the brief details they sent: This StingRay 5 HH was completed on March 28th, 2006. The color is honey burst with the rosewood fretboard and shell pickguard. It was originally shipped to Guitar Center. That sounds spot on as the previous owner bought it in the states during a trip there. This is no longer an urgent sale so I have removed the ridiculously low price that I was offering for it last week and am looking for offers over £900. I'm really happy for potential buyers to come and play. I have a studio with nice amps where you can make as much noise as you want for as long as you want and I'll keep the tea / coffee and biscuits coming. If a buyer wants this sent via courier I will happily package it up ready for collection but the buyer must arrange the courier themselves as I'd be terrified taking responsibility for this in the hands of UPS / Parcelforce etc. I can however deliver within 100 miles of Silverstone Northants for free and can discuss further afield for fuel money. Price is £1000 ovno. TRADES I will only consider the following and may be able to add a little cash for the right thing: Aguilar DB 750 / 751 Warwick Streamer Stage 1 5 string A really nice P bass (doesn't have to be fender but does have to be lovely) Please feel free to ask any questions! 6. Such a doofus - wrong for sale forum. Sorry mods but can you move for me.
 7. For sale are my two Bill Fitzmaurice designed Simplex 1 x 12 cabs finished in "Funky Purple". Both contain pretty much brand new Eminence Kappalite 3012HO drivers which currently retail at £195 each. One cab is fitted with the Eminence APT80 tweeter. Both cabs are 8ohm and have 400w power handling. Both cabs weigh 16.4kg each. I built these myself as my final BFM build when I stopped being an authorised BFM builder two years ago. Since then they have been used for probably 20 gigs but since I bought a bigger van I've been using a schroeder cab so these have only been used in my home studio recently. The wood is proper 12mm baltic birch ply with 11 very even plys and absolutely no voids. They are built to last and all components used are premium. I can also throw in the remainder of the tuff cab paint used so you can make them look like new over and over again if you wish. They sound great. They go seriously loud if that's your thing and they have a pretty flat response and a tight authoritive bottom end. They have sprung handles and feet on bottom and sides so they can be stacked tall on smaller stages. Both have double speakon inputs at the back. They come with both steel grills and vintage style cloth grills (shown in 1st pic) and are easy to swap. I'm only asking £190 each or £350 for the pair. That's less than the price of the drivers so a total steal. I'm not desperate to sell them so the price is firm. I can deliver withing 50 miles of Silverstone northants for free. If you want to come and try them I have a studio where you can give them a good run at gig volume. 8. Jobeky standard kit with the new td-25 brain. £1800 but looks like a real kit and sounds epic. We use one for function work and its beyond brilliant.
 9.
The one thing that I find common in the type of ad your posting. It sounds like a band that rehearses more than they gig.
This. It would put me off. Also the fact that it's only a temporary position.
 10. Playing exactly the same as the original song only really works if the rest of the band are doing the same. I play the same songs differently with different bandmates if it works better that way.
 11. I know it's not entirely what you want but you could buy a 12ohm retro two 10 and have your current one converted to 12ohm and run at 6ohm parallel load. You then get the option of a third one (God forbid) if you ever get the urge.
 12. We played on the roof of the ashmolean museum in Oxford last summer whilst the Randolph hotel directly opposite was on fire.
 13. I had a yob precision once. It was a total pup so sold it on again.
 14. Everyone is just following the "one in one out" policy and flogging their five string in order to buy one of the many that are for sale. It's snowballing!
 15. After some advice if I may I have agreed to do a bunch of gigs on drums this summer. I've been playing about 2 yrs and love it and to be fair I'm probably as good on drums as bass (which ive been playing for 24yrs) already. The guys I'm going to be playing with have heard me play plenty of times so they're happy with my ability. I'm really happy playing to a click because when I practice I put on my big cans and use a metronome a lot and although there's no tracks being used or anything I'm going to use in ears for monitoring and using a click to keep me on track. Obviously I don't want to use my big headphones so does anyone know of a decent wired in ear setup with earplugs that are good for excluding the noise of my kit? I don't want to spend silly money if possible so any reasonably priced suggestions would be appreciated.
 16. I recently picked up a Dell for £549 with an i7 processor, 1TB hard drive and 16gig of ram. It has happily tracked loads of recording sessions already without skipping a beat. If money was no object I would defo go Mac for reliability and the fact that they don't slow down over time without regular maintenance. For what I spent on the Dell though it's great for recording. I should add though that I bought it purely for recording so there's virtually nothing other than reaper installed on it and the hard drive is empty (I use an external hard drive when tracking).
 17.
Ah. Doh! It's only the controller that's WiFi. All the processing and mixing is done in the mixer. Hard wired. If the wifi crashes it's no biggie, the hardware must just stay at its last known settings. Obvious really.
Yep that's it exactly. If your controlling device fails the mixer just keeps doing what it was last told to do. If you have everything set up from a previous gig it's just a case of tweaking at the next gig to suit venue. When you connect your iPad / laptop etc at the start of a new session you get asked if you want to sync the settings from the mixer (the last settings before you shut it down last time) to the iPad / laptop so it doesn't even matter if you use a different control device at each gig. You can also sync from ipad to mixer so if the settings are saved on your ipad / laptop but you're using a different mixer then its no problem. It's really clever stuff.
 18.
I don't see any need to take Blue's comment so seriously. I don't think he meant that if you don't want to gig in pubs then you should give up bass. I think he meant that if you don't want to gig in pubs, you should give up gigging in pubs
Yep I probably shouldn't have hijacked the ops thread but this is more a response to this in conjunction with many of Blue's other posts elsewhere. My bad.
 19.
I say if you don't like gigging your really not in this. Blue
Blue you really do make me laugh. You say that people who don't gig aren't really "in this", you criticise people who only play weekends, you say that to you are living the dream on your gig money but it's all just nonsense really. I am one of the "weekend warriors" that you have previously stated are ruining live music and that they should leave it for the full timers. I have a day job so I don't have to play all the bar gigs because I've been there and done that 1000 times over and I just don't get excited by them anymore. I still live for playing live though but these days I prefer to be doing functions etc in nice venues playing music that I love with great players. Ironically my weekend warrior work currently brings me considerably more than the income you make from your work (based on figures you posted a few months back on another discussion). It's absolutely great that you love what you do, really it is but if I thought that I would end up single and playing pubs for a living in my retirement I'd probably top myself now.....because we all get different things from this and that's not what I want to get from it. If people want to sit at home recording in their bedroom then they are no less "in this" than you or I. It's like saying "blokes that just kick a football about in the park with their mates should go home and leave it to the pros". Nonsense, music needs people of all abilities and commitment levels, no matter what they want to get from playing, to keep it alive and keep the people at the top of the tree on their toes. Without the millions of bedroom musicians around the world buying gear there would be far less money poured into development of new technology and gear so it makes the whole scene richer. About time you looked outside your little box and showed a little respect for those that happen to see things differently from you.
 20.
I think if we were all trying to scrape a living from gigging, then we'd put up with an awful lot of crap for a paying gig.
This makes a lot of sense to me. That's why I have a day job (that thankfully I enjoy and is flexible enough to allow me to gig whenever I want) so I can choose not to play grotty bar gigs week in week out and why I don't have to tolerate the intolerable in the form of moody band mates.
 21.
Pity they are like rocking horse poop to find second hand, might have to buy new THEN tell the misses......RUN...............!!
Let me know as soon as you buy the new one so I can buy the second hand one that pops up on here while you wait for yours to be delivered.
 22. Just been reading up and Dulwich Estates sounds like a posh old boys network who don't give a monkeys about the local area.
 23.
It was flooded and heavily damaged, I think.
Ah I see. In that case it's a shame that Fullers got there first. Were there any other organisations in the running to take over there or were Fullers the only ones who showed interest?
 24. Yep agreed. No player is bigger than the band and if what they play makes the band sound worse and they have no intention of listening then they're worse than a waste of space. Get rid asap.
 25. Why did it close down 2 and a half years back? If it's because it wasn't making money then either it was being run poorly (I'm pretty sure The Half Moon was one of the better run music venues) or the demand in the area for live music isn't high enough to sustain it. I know it's a real shame to lose live music venues but they, like any other business, need to be profitable. The history of the building is great and it has seen some great bands but that alone doesn't make a business case.
