1. Thanks for the info William64. I had taken the previous owners word for it that it was from 1993 - he was quite elderly to be fair but seemed switched on. Lots of interest in this one and it looks like I have a buyer for it now in Brother Jones but will update if that doesn't work out.
2. For sale is my lovely Yamaha TRB 5 II from 1998. I believe the colour is called Sunburst but it's a very gentle fade over really nicely grained wood. It is a brilliant bass that is super versatile and for a 17yr old instrument it is in fantastic condition. 100% original. The build quality is as good as you'll find and the neck is a beauty. It has two Yamaha soapbar pickups and an active 3 band eq. Weight is 4.6 kg Nut width is 43mm String spacing at the bridge is 18mm There are three dings. 1st is on the front just below the pickup blend knob (to the right of the knob in the 2nd pic as the bass is upright). This is the largest (about 13mm long and 1.5mm wide) but is quite hard to see as it is in the clear lacquer not the wood. The 2nd is tiny (3mm x 1.5mm) also on the front above the pickups but is only really noticeable to touch unless you are really (and I mean really) looking for it. The last is on the top edge (4mm x 2mm) and barely noticeable. All are pictured as best I can manage. The gold hardware has signs of ageing (lost a little shine in places) but its 17 yrs old. What more can I say. It's basically a really high class 5 string that sounds beautiful, plays great (the action goes really low if you want) and looks the business. It has been well looked after from new and will hold it's own with basses 4 times the price. 3. Of course. Will do so when I get home this afternoon :-)
4. Got one yesterday on a bass I bought from here. Initially I thought it was going to be unusable as it kept coming back up to E out of tune but a swift look at the hipshot video explaining how to tune it and now I can see it's going to be a real asset.
5. Price drop bump for this pretty much as new (except the decal of course) nicely upgraded Jazz 5er
6. Thanks jassbass I've just weighed it and it's a featherlight 3.6kg or 7.9lbs. I'd let it go for £140 if anyone is interested.
7. I played a short showcase set at the Freddie Gee drum academy in Winchester a couple of years ago. I used a GK MB200 into a 4 ohm berg 2 x 12. It was more than loud enough to keep up with Gregg Bisonette playing at full war volume with headroom to spare. Unless you want super super clean and have a feather light touch the only way 200watts isn't enough for a pub is if your cab isnt efficient enough. I see no problem with having 500-1000 watts though as the prices are reasonable and all of these amps have a volume knob so can be used at home too.
8.
Our coated strings are called EXP, they last at least 4 times longer than our un-coated strings. To find the right set of EXP take the Item # of your regular un-coated set e.g. EXL170 and change out the L for a P i.e. EXP170.
Awesome - two sets ordered! Thank you.
9. Hahaha my bad lol. Thanks for clearing that up.
10. Just completed a bass trade with Travis. Absolutely lovely guy and he made the trade really easy. Really hope our paths cross again. Buy / sell / trade with confidence people! Tom
11. Bassassin that's a beauty. Very cool! Width at nut is: 40mm (total neck width) and 32 mm (left edge of E string to left edge of G string) String spacing at nut is: 11mm String spacing at bridge is 19mm
12. Thanks Norm, it really is a lovely instrument and it plays and sounds every bit as good as it looks.
13. That's a whole lot of great sounding kit that was built to last for not much money. GLWTS
14. The guy who sold it to me said he'd wanted the letter b in gold so it blended in more.
15. The amp was built on 13th April 1998. I've tried to show the scratches in the pics below. None are particularly deep and they haven't gone through the paint to the metal beneath.
16.
I think I saw discreet looking for spandex in the wanted section
I can supply sparkly pink, wet look black and leopard print. All come with rip chord crotch and I'll wipe the stains off them.
17. I aquired this in a trade recently and it's absolutely brilliant but I also managed to find an EBS head a few days later that I like just a touch more. I'm therefore moving this on. It is a really cool head that bridges the gap between heavy solid state and class D for me. It has more weight to the sound than class D heads I've used and it has masses of control with a very comprehensive yet easy to use EQ section. This amp is well used and has a few scratches on the top but it's warm, loud and compact. It comes with power lead and a near new Gator carry bag that keeps it safe in transit. You're welcome to come and try it out here in my rehearsal space at full volume. I'm happy to post within mainland uk at buyers expense. I will ship outside the uk but buyer must arrange the courier. 18. For sale only - the tackiest bass you'll ever own!! I used this for my Steel Panther tribute band for the last three years and it's actually a cracking little bass. It has a single MM style EMG Humbucker and active 2 band EQ. It has been refinished using kids art glitter, halfords Vauxhall Chevette white spray paint and about 14 tins of laquer. It's not a professional job but it sparkles like crazy (pics don't do it justice) and you would need power tools to scratch it. It sounds great. Really punchy and works really well in a loud band mix. It is probably the easiest bass I've ever played and despite being 34 inch scale it feels really small and light. If you're playing hair metal this is the only bass you'll ever need. I also have a half metric ton of spandex if anyone needs it. £160 or will trade for a Dingwall AB2 with cash my way. Can post at buyers expense within UK and I will wrap it discreetly. 19. Up for sale is a Squier VM Jazz bass 5 in natural with black blocks in a bound maple fingerboard. The bass is in excellent condition with no marks to the body that I can find. It has been fitted with Seymour Duncan pickups which to my ears are a vast improvement over the stock ones. I have also replaced the knobs with the black standard Jazz style ones as I didn't like the silver ones. I have fitted luminlay fret markers which are a really useful addition on a dark stage. They glow well for a good 60mins and it only takes 40 seconds to charge them up. It has nearly new D'addario (chromes I think) strings. The action is nice and low and it plays brilliantly. The headstock has been refinished by the previous owner who had it less than 4 weeks from new before selling it to me earlier this year. The decal has been replaced with one which says "FINGER MY BASS". I initially planned to replace this with either a squier or fender one but never got round to it. Pretty sure it could be done easily enough though. I'm now selling as I had originally bought it to match my USA VRI 75 Jazz which looks like it will be traded this weekend. Asking £190 which considering the condition, pups, luminlay markers and strings is a real steal. It doesn't come with a case but I have a proper box to ship it in. Happy to ship within mainland UK at the buyers expense. I will only ship outside mainland UK if the buyer arranges their own courier to collect it. 20. Regular D'addario user here. If they do an equivalent to elixirs which keep their zing longer then let me know as I'd use them on all my basses.
21. Trades considered as long as it either has five strings and a humbucker in the bridge position or is a nice P bass with mojo (limelight perhaps??)
