  1. Wish my does the same. I'm the opposite now, selling rather then buying ........ lol
  2. Just bare in mind the Aria 5 string I'm looking at is price at £100. Altho my Bongo sale will generate abit of money but like I said most of the money will go else where (nothing to do with bass) ...... I look at this like a small project unless something decent comes up which convince me to paid abit more. Fretless is something I'm more interest then 5 string.
  3. I have not played anything perfect in my hands before but I think the problem is me. Human like to look for negatives lol.
  4. I hated precision since day 1 i start playing bass, but as time goes by I really like it because is plain simple and get the job done lol.
  5. Getting rid of my MM Bongo 4 HS tomorrow since I don't use the bass anymore and I use my P and J 99% of the time. After going in circle I realise I need a 5 string and fretless more then the MM tone. I'm on limited budget and I can't blow all my MM sale to a new bass. Saw a Aria STB 5 string jazz bass for sale in my local area and I guess I can rip the frets out of the aria bass and use that as fretless? Ideally I wanted a unline fretless but for the time being i guess this is the more cost efficient to have a 5 string and fretless? Also are their any unline fretless 5 jazz neck in the maket to buy to replace?
  6. You can probably just list a potential problem on every single brand. Either is bass, amp or cabs .....
  7. That's why their is a wide range of basses for every bass players.
  8. Seriously tempting, selling my bongo on friday so might have cash.
  9. I own P and currently still own a bongo (not for long) and use to own a stingray. Like you said they are apple and orange. I prefer P because I'm lazy and just want to plug and go without adjusting anything. Musicman bass have it own taste and it works well in most music as well in my opinion. The unique tone they got is very nice. Even stingray, bongo and sterling sounds totally different in my ears.
  10. Classical music? lol
  11. hahahaha, at one point I was consider doing the John Myung way on the bongo. Just leave the volume active and everything else is dummy knobs.
  12. Fender P gets my vote. Don't get me wrong I own stingray and and currently still own a bongo and I use my P bass 90% of the gig. The bongo is going through a sale process so i won't even have any MM bass soon. Reason to go P bass in my opinion is that the bass is so simple to get the sound. Full on volume and tone and plug in and play. Less messing around on the EQ ..... When I get alot of knobs on the bass I start messing with them, i rather have none and concentrate on playing lol.
  13. I swapped a rosewood finger board p neck for a maple fretboard jazz neck on my p/j bass. Suits my style. Probably won't sell it because I use that bass 90% of the time. In fact i'm selling other expensive bass instead. I don't know why i don't play my expensive bass like musicman, warwick etc. I prefer mid range fender and mod the hell out of it to make it work for me lol.
  14. strings comes to my mind when you said dull. I had this problem with my bongo before. First time i got the bass it sound absolute garbage. Dull and lifeless. After string replace and correct setup, the bass sounded nice but i come to the point where MM bass is not really my thing. I gone through string ray and bongo and I come to the point where i decided is not my thing anymore. P and J is all i ever need right now lol.
  15. I dunno i get that sort of tone when I play my P/J bass via the ashdown little bastard on the passive input. It clip hard and the aggressive tone is their lol.
  16. Where did you put the jack? on the bottom of the bass?
  17. Did you add another blend knob onto the bass? so you have 2 stack knob and 1 single knob?
  18. The good thing and also a concern for me on the p-retro is the internal battery. The good is that i don't need to mod the bass to put a 9v battery and the bad is how long will the internal battery last as the time goes. The U-Retro is something i was looking at as well but the bass don't have any room to put the 9v battery without routing the battery placement.
  19. Thats good to know, asking my guitar tech about this atm as well. I never thought of using a p or j retro again (not because is not good). I had 3 bass and the p and j is passive and my musicman bongo is active. I realise I never actually play on the bongo apart from forcing myself to because is paid good money for the bass. I finally decided that I no longer needed it because the P and J suits the type of music I play better so I'm parting that away but I also like to keep 1 active option so decided to add p-retro.
  20. I'm thinking about putting p Retro on my bass but my p bass is p bass body with p/j pickup. The preamp doesn't have a blend knobe like the j retro.
  21. Fantastic bass. I would buy it off you if I can sell my musicman bongo.
  22. Interest in any trades?
  23. You don't happen to interest on a musicman bongo 4 HS?
  24. You don't fancy a trade do you?
  25. Fancy a trade?
