1. I'm not inspire to buy them to behonest even if it sound pretty decent. New fender combo kinda inspire me to behonest. If ampeg want to change the cosmetic of the BA combo, they could probably do some portaflex style of combo/small combo.
2. Which ampeg combo is this?
3. I'm sure if you post this on the bass sale section, someone might be interest.
4. Very nice looking bass man. I think I probably have to go down the same route because I can't find a fretless that is right for me. I will need to look for the neck first then sort out the body later lol.
5. Don't get me wrong, the bad experience I'm referring to is not the tone of the amp. I'm keep getting a weird buzz noise on the when a low note is play, is more to do with the cab instead. Some people don't have the same problem, I just got a bad one.
6. I had bad experience with the older BA series. I've only play 2 model which are BA108 and BA115. Hope the newer ones is better, but one thing I don't like the newer model is the look ....... doesn't look like an ampeg to me .....
7. Is your preamp a John East preamp or the ACG filter type of preamp? I use the ACG01 preamp before on a ACG 5 string and the tone is fantastic, something you can't get on a normal typical 3-4 band EQ pre.
8. This is the one with an single MM pickup right?
9. Chorus, Reverb and Delay would be a start point. I use EBS Chorus and Reverb and I can get a similar sound to the clip.
10. Bloody hell, this must be the best 6 string for this kind of price ..... if I haven't bought a house I would snatch this off you ......
11. Damn I was looking for one of these. I'm still thinking about this one or the double stop one that goes to C.
12. What you don't like about it?
13. My Fender 60 RI use to have a J-Retro preamp intalled for 5 years but I decided to convert it back to passive with Vol/Blend/Tone setup and I have not miss anything personally. I can always use an external preamp to boost or cut. When I had the John East installed, all my EQ was flat most of the time ...... another big factor why i convert it back to passive because all my bass is active and is just pain for me personally to manage ..... I P/J and J bass is passive and the only active bass I've got right now is the musicman bongo which uses 2x 9v battery.
14. Musicman bass have a powerful preamp. Even little adjustment change the tone completely. I love my bongo HS.
15. First to start off my amp is solid state and both preamp and power amp is separate within a single case sleeve. The preamp I got is a very old GP11 and the power amp is no name (look like home made). The back panel only have power switch and 2x speaker jack and the front panel of the Trace Elliot GP11 a effect jack, but it only have 1 jack label as "Effects, Ring-Send. Tip-Return". Usually a amp have 2x jack for effect send and return. I think this is post EQ so can I actually line out this? Reason for asking is because I want to use this unit as preamp only and thats the only way I can line out the preamp signal? so I can connect a external power amp to that?
16. Had a TC BC212 before and now a Trace 1x15. The BC212 sounded more deeper when my amp set flat and the Trace sounded less deeper when the amp set flat but to me the Trace sounded better at high volume and doesn't have that mid scoop tone from the TC cab.
17. Am I right to think that by switching out the higher gain valve to a lower gain valve the volume will drop but can turn up higher without getting dirty too quickly?
18. I don't mind using other people's rig in a venue where the sound is supported by a PA. I certainly happy to turn up with my bass and my DI box and just play.
19. I have experience similar problem before on a gig when using other band's bass amp. Is a Trace Elliot combo which sounded great but keep cutting off on my first 2 songs but then it stays on ok for the rest. It cuts off so no sound is produce but signal is still sending to the desk. So basically I can't hear myself on stage but the audience can .....
20.
I am running them through a pair of Barefaced Super Compact cabs (each at 600 watts @ 4ohms)
The reason I ask is because I thought your cabs were 4ohm each ......
21. Barefaced Super Compact cabs is 8ohm on their website, unless you ask them to make it to 4ohm? If the cabs you got is 8ohm each then is not really a minimum load problem.
22. Isn't the those amps you got is minimum 4ohm load? and you running two bareface cab which are 4ohm load each, which bring the minimum load to 2ohm. If so, you can do more harm to your amp. If you keep playing your amp via 2ohm you can damage and break your amp ........ You need two 8ohm load cab instead ....... not two 4ohm cab.
23. Thats a bargain actually ......
24. If is for the house I think pretty much any decent small combo will do the job. Gig wise I don't think either one will work unless you play very quiet on stage. I have also heard the BG250 have less power then advertise, but someone can clarify this.
25. I think his budget is £250 for amp and speaker. Those 2 he was looking at is a combo amp. Are you planning to use the amp for home practice, jam with friend or gig purpose?
