1. The red cotton thing on both end leads me to think is Rotosound.
2. I prefer the SS1 personally.
3. Met Howard on Saturday to trade my ACG for his Musicman Bongo. Communication with Howard is excellent and we kept contact through out the whole time until the deal is done. Howard travel all the way from Glasgow to Manchester to make the deal happen! Nice guy overall and the bass is exactly as describe.
4.
I got my LB30 in a deal with a VS15 - sounds amazing. If the drop down is anything like this I doubt you'll be disappointed. Probably the best tone I've ever made.
Thats the cab i was using when i test the LB30 in the store and i bought the LB30 straight away. When I use the BC212, it wasn't bad but just different.
5. Yeah i heard many good things about the Bareforce Compact. It looks good because of the size, weight and speaker size. I need to save up for one lol. The BC212 is ok, nice volume but tone wise is just ok. I will certainly use it for gig etc. The most important for the BC212 is light for a 2x12 cab.
6. What's a decent compact cab to go with the LB30 to make it sound justice? I'm using a TC BC212 at the moment.
7. Volume wise i can't see a huge different but tone wise i would say yes, but i could be wrong. So please correct me if i'm totally wrong. Let says a amp is 500w at 4ohm and 350w at 8ohm. You get more clean headroom when using a 4ohm cab because you pumping out more power.
8. All depend really. On my LB30 head it make no different running a single 4 ohm or 8ohm cab. Either cabs my head will pump out full power.
9. Some said the cab sound pretty much like the VS115 but i could be wrong. I've also own a LB30 and currently pair with a TC BC212 but i'm really fancy the idea of the Ashdown VS cabs. The tone is much more vintage which I like
10. Show us some photo would help .....
11. The head on the combo is pretty much the same as the LB30 right?
12.
Yes - what did you do about it ?
Change the jack to a more solid one lol.
13. Is the jack feel very loose when you plug the cable in? I use to have a corvette and the jack is very dodgy.
14. Absolute hate precision bass when i first started playing bass, because i thought p-bass is for people that can't afford a proper bass. I'm totally love p-bass now and i've gig with p-bass all the time now.
15. I'm interest on the jazz plate. Going back to passive on my jazz but i lost my original fender jazz plate .......
16. Sound about right. I use to own one of these ages ago and it cost me around £200 new.
17. This is the bass: http://www.acguitars.co.uk/acg_admin/wordpress/portfolio/0078-j-type-5-string/
18. Fancy a trade for a ACG 5 string P/J bass?
19. I've got an ACG 5 string P/J bass to offer.
20. damn, i always wanted one of these 6 string corvette. Spend my money else where already =.= Someone buy this quick.
21. The Trace is better then the Ashdown.
22. I think the best thing for me is to change the bass to passive first and try it out for a week or two then decide whether i should pop the j-retro back on or sell it. The reason for this is, everytime when i try a jazz bass in a store, either is a expensive fender, G&L or cheap squier, it always sound nice. They all passive bass. It just make me wondering thats all.
23. That jazz bass look like the Squier 5 string. To behonest for £120 the bass look alright actually, but like above have said, this bass look nothing like marcus miller jazz bass.
24. I will vote for the Markbass stuff.
25. I'm not sure what type of music you play, but prepare for the feedback. I use to own a few acoustic bass for church use and because the church music require low deep bass note (simple stuff), i actually have problem with feedback when sustaining a note .....
