Will let you know on that when i tried it out or purchase it. I think if i do get the 15" i will only get a pair because the whole point for me to get the LB30 is to downsize. So one head and 1 cab will do me. The 15" seems like it will do the job most of the time. Will the LB30 plus VS115 will sound the same as the LB30 drop head combo?
-
I think i will go for the Ashdown VS115 to pair it along with the LB30. Thats the only cab it got in the shop where i can buy it ......... i did try the amp with that cab when i bought the LB30. I think the volume will decrease compare to my BC212 ..... but the 15" all tube head with my P bass will sound sweet tho

This means i can use 2x 16ohm cabs on the 8ohm output. I've got a Ashdown Perfect 10 mini stack in my friends house, the cabs are 2x 1x10 and the cab ohms is 16ohms rated at 60watt each.
-
ah ok, i thought it would be like that but wasn't sure because the amp have a 4ohm and 8ohm output. Usually amp just have 4ohm output and you just connect the cabs yourself.
-
What output do you use if you connect 2x ohm cabs? the 4ohm output or the 8ohm output?
-
I use to have a Little Mark 250 and the tone is fantastic and is loud if you use 2 8ohm cabs. Reason i sold it because i want more power but i kinda regret of selling it now .....

Markbass amp goes nicely with there cabs in my personal experience. I say a Markbass 2x10 will go nicely and is light as well. Can lift with 1 hand easily.

Need more power - what to do for the best?

Thats because you close to the amp, if EQ is not the problem then i guess is the cab position. I would suggest you try this before buying/adding more cabs. If the cab is place on the floor you may want to stack it higher so the speakers on the cab is at ear level. You can do this by sticking on a flight case, table or beer crag etc. This will help you hear better. I use to do this alot when using my BC212 stack. both cabs stack vertically and it help hearing alot better. -

Those Trace cabs is not light at all ........ Trace cabs always loud and full of bass in my ear and I see why you like them as well but if portability is your thing i stay away from them ...... I can't say what power you need because i personally think your amp have enough power but perhaps adding another 2x12 stack vertically will help you hear better or put your cab on top of something to raise it up to ear level ......... I personally think is EQ and cab position. Sometimes boosting bass on the amp and guitar is not the way to go ........ i find it cut or flat the bass EQ and mess around with low mid and Mid will certainly help. Also having the cab at ear level will greatly help you listen better, you may think you need more volume on stage because you can't hear yourself but in fact the audience hear tons of bass from you. -
I've set my eyes on to replace it with Ashdown matching cab to the LB30. Here are my choices in terms of price: - 1x Ashdown VS115 - 1x Ashdown VS212 - 2x Ashdown VS112 I take it the VS112 and VS212 is same? The VS115 sound good in the shop but unsure about the volume i will get when pair with LB30. Looking to use the head to do pub gigs.

I'm currently using Tc BC212. Is pretty light for a 2x12 cab, it weights 20kg. I guess the VS 212 weight 30kg so i assume the VS112 is same weight or possible less. The only problem i got with the BC212 is size and the VS112 is much smaller and I can either use 2x VS112 or just one depend on my purpose. The BC212 is china build as well so i say both VS112 and BC212 build around the same ........ if the VS112 sound good i will go for that instead.
-
2x VS112 is more portable i guess.
-
I've tried the VS115 in the shop when i bought the LB30 and it does sound good actually but of course it weight more then my BC212 by 10kg. I'm defo interest on the VS212 tho.

Photos added New Ashdown CTM 15 Got one today

For small gigs it depend how loud you guys play, but with PA support it should be fine in my opinion. I went for the LB30 instead. -
If getting Ashdown cab. 1x VS212 or 2x VS112?
-
I'm planning to use the amp for a while first before changing valves. I will definite look into those valves you suggest
-
My LB30 is a not a UK version but it sound good and build quality seems ok so far lol. I'm definite looking to replace the cab with a Ashdown VS212 but i need to save up some money first lol
-
I've gone for the Little Bastard 30 instead. It sounded good on my BC212 when i tried it in the shop. It pump out decent volume to be honest. I'm interest on the VS212 cab actually .......

Purchase a Ashdown LB30 today, can't resist the all valve mini bass amp. I'm downsizing after all from a full stack. So I traded half of stack which include a BH500 and 1x BC212 for a good price and got the LB30 for very small amount of money. Currently running the LB30 with my BC212 and the tone is pretty good and plenty of volume for the stuff i play. Plug it in the shop and it rattle the place (warehouse) and the master is at 12.00 position using a cheap passive bass (very low gain ....) Haven't have time to tried the amp with my ACG 5 string, Active fender jazz and a passive p bass with hot SDuncan pickup Is unbelievable of what this little 30watt can get in terms of tone and decent volume. What range of SS amp (watts) is equal to this 30watt all valve head? Any better cab to run this head instead of my BC212 cab?
-
I don't really know, i need to tried again today in the shop later to decide. I really like the LB30 but i'm gonna tried it again on my cab to see how it sound. I know my TC BC212 is a decent 2x12 cabs and is lighter then most 2x10 and 4x10 etc but i fancy changing the BC212 for a Ashdown VS212 or 2x ampeg SVT210 micro cabs if i get the LB30. Compact size in the house is what i need.
-
After a long sleep last night thinking about what to get i think i need to rethink about hte CTM15 ........ it does sound tiny when put into band situation. I'm gonna trade in my BH500 and BC212 cab for one of the head. It's clearly down to Orange Terror Bass and the Ashdown Little Bastard 30. I've tried both amp in the shop in the past and they both does sound good but the OTB is 500watt hybrid amp and the LB30 is all valve 30watt. I only going to use it for home practice, recording, band rehearsal, pub gigs and small club gigs (200-250 people with DI/PA support). Planning to run it thru a BC212 cab.
-
Now you got me thinking on the Orange Terror bass ....... I can choose Ashdown CTM 15, Ashdown LB30 and the Orange Terror Bass 500 in the shop. Looking to run either of the amp to one TC BC212.
-
I get a bass monitor as well on stage so thats not a problem, i still thinking about the CMT15.
-
I only say it can gig in places like pub or venue with PA support .....
-
I'm definitely need downsizing this time. Currently using TC BH500 and 2x BC212. Planning to keep one cab and get rid of the other cab and possibly replace the head for something else as well. Those little Ashdown got me GASing to replace my BH500. The Little Bastard 30 is nice but it doesn't have a gain knob ...... The CMT15 is 15watt all valve but it have a gain and master knob which is good to dail in clean to dirty tone. Tried the CMT15 running into Ashdown ABM4x10 in the shop (PMT warehouse manchester) and it sounds pretty loud for a 15watt valve head and i'm using a passive squier jazz bass as well. I got a feeling i can actually do small gig with this (i only do pub gig and 200-250 size venue). I usually have PA support in gig except pub gig. Worth trading the BH500 for the CMT15?
