  1. if it haven't got a crack on the neck i would offer my ACG 5 string to trade (might not be the bass you wanted anyway). I still really tempted tho ..... the streamer stage 1 is my dream bass ......
  2. I use to have a stingray and the most useable sound i get is less is more ..... pretty much everything is flat and boost a little of bass and treble. It do take abit of time to get use to the sound, i always hate the tone when playing alone but loves it when playing with the band because it cuts in nicely and sits well in the mix.
  3. you don't happen interest a trade?
  4. I've mention in earlier that my bass is not passive and i use J-Retro preamp.

  14. i no longer have those stock pickup ...... change them for dimarzio dp123 long time ago but really regret now because i like the original pickup ......

  16. Got a ACG 5 string if you interest.
  17. These 300watt Old Trace stuff is loud as hell. We have one of those 150watt 15" combo (Old Trace) and is loud as hell but is not really my taste of amp, but in your case £120 is good buy.
  18. After listening to all the advice I went thru a bunch of testing and i got some clank on my tone but still lacking abit. My jazz bass have pickup and bridge cover but i have remove them all to try playing with different position and end up getting some serious clank, i.e playing only top of the neck position but i also found some useful tone that i always want playing on top of the bridge pickup. My action can go slightly lower for more clank but will play more to see how it goes first. Those pickup/bridge cover is definite coming off for good now lol.
  19. I think the covers is more effecting the jazz bass. With the covers on the jazz its kinda limit on where i can play the bass and get the tone. For P bass is not much of a problem unless you play directly on top of the pickup.
  20. i like the look on the pickup and bridge covers on my P and J bass but i kinda hate them now as i changing the style of play/technique. It tends to get in the way ........
  21. I've never own or buy a signature bass. I buy and play what I like lol.
  22. in that video that CIJ sound bass to me but i've own a MIM Fender Classic 60 Jazz and that definite play very nicely compare to some CIJ and MIA model.
  23. Found this guy on youtube and his using a fender jazz to get that clanky tone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBKEPWV38so
  24. If the same 3 bass wired up with the same pickup and same electronic or preamp, will it sound different or the same? This could lead up to wood? or neck material?
  25. Another good idea with pedals. I never thought of using some overdrive pedal to give abit of that clank. I do have some overdrive pedal but hardly use it.
