1. i have a cheap ish ashbury acoustic bass. The bass is nothing special but do the dirty job when i do unplug gig or stuff like that. on a acoustic bass i tend to don't need to mess around with the EQ too much so i most likely do the EQ on the amp or somekind of external preamp etc and leave the bass internal EQ flat and use it as volume control only. Reason for that is the preamp is not fantastic so bes to leave it in place. Alot of ppl use flatwound on their acoustic bass but i leave my as bronze strings which work well for me and sound great as well. Action wise it seems the acoustic bass will have higher action then electric bass.
2. I'm joining the ACG club now Traded my 4 string Stingray 3 band EQ for this ACG J Type 5 string. Simply fall in love with the bass, everything just feels perfect for my ideal 5 string. Nice fast neck for me, not chunky, 24 fret and the mid on the bass is superb.
3. i like the original Tune bass guitar, specially their 6 string bass. Hard to find one these days now =.=
4. damn this is a great price for the fretless i want but shame is wrong time for me as i already spend the money on buying a acoustic bass otherwise i would snap this off you =.=
5. pretty much most bass will do the trick ...... i think is not the bass is your playing style and technique ...... personally i say Warwick and Musicman is a good starting point.
6. Musicman bass is a beast (I'm talking about the 4 string version). Dual pickup will give the bass alot of useable and wide range of tone to use which suits most music. With the low B and high C added the bass is more then a beast. John Myung from the Dreamn Theatre plays one and in my opinion i like the tone alot, but too expensive for me to buy a 6 string lol
7. i miss my 4 string corvette and 5 string corvette when i sold it to get a stingray and a p bass ..... I still felt gutted and should of kept it specially the 4 string corvette i had. The 4 string had EMG active pickup and John East 3 Band EQ preamp and the 5 string had Bartolini pickup and also John East 3 band EQ preamp. Both corvette sound super fantastic an that gutted feeling still exist today ....... Not to mention both sold for less then 500
8. like above said, don't sell it unless you really need the cash, these fortress is way better then the corvette model which sell just slightly less then the asking price. If i have the cash i think i will pick one up lol.
9. Their are couple of these on the sales forum before and most of them are listed around the £400-450.
10. I got to admit i do have interest on the 5 string OLP and Rick copy.
11. I play a Fender Classic 60 (MIM) that i have pickup upgrade and J-Retro installed. The bass play like a dream and it sounded better then most MIA i tried so far. Build quality is very good as well. I like the neck on the bass alot. See photo below:
12. Check these out: Warwick copy (corvette) http://thetopguitars.com/products/Custom-Shop-Inspired-Warwick-Bass.html OLP is copy i think too http://thetopguitars.com/products/Great-OIP-5-Strings-Electric-Bass-In-Black-.html check out this Rick copy as well (see headstock as well) http://thetopguitars.com/products/Custom-Shop-Rickenbacker-Fireglo-4003-Black-Bass.html
13. several tempted bass actually and the price is decent enough to buy one and try one out ....... interest on the rick copy actually lol
14. check out this musicman copy. http://thetopguitars.com/products/Musicman-4-Strings-Electric-Bass-.html
15. Is it me or this shop sells copy/clone version of bass? Price is so cheap but some item have the name on the headstock .... http://thetopguitars...tric-Bass-.html
16. Price for each of these? The Aria is different then the other 2 because is 5 string, i would prefer the 5 string if the low B is decent enough to use.
17. don't get me wrong i'm not complaining about the tone knob lol.
18. maybe i need to disconnect the tone control on my bass lol. When i use my precision bass my main goal was to stop messing around with settings on the bass and now i still flaffing around on the tone control lol. I do like to use the tone full or half, complete off the tone sound abit too muddy for my taste.
19. Was wondering who turn their tone knob all the way down and use it for gigs? I always leave it full on and adjust EQ to cut through the mix. I was messing with the tone knob at home practice and decide to turn the tone knob all the way down and indeed it give me tons of bass power and low end but it sound very dull, muddy and lifeless.
20. wrong forum mate.
21. I'm interest actually, i only got this to trade. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/187697-ftfs-musicman-stingray-4-string-3-band-eq-trans-orange/
22. shame the original preamp is not installed. Otherwise i may have a stingray 4 to trade you but then you may not want an active bass lol.
