1. Did you pay the listing fee? If they were put up before the fee was introduced, you can get them put back up apparently.
2. I like the new one.
3. Great stuff. See you there.
4. That is fantastic. I'm now thinking of getting divorced, just so that I can book you guys for my next wedding reception.
5. My band are playing on Saturday 24th at the Forum, 3.30pm. Anyone else playing and want to meet up for a beer? I think I'm working at the Forum or Sussex most of the weekend.
6. P bass, J neck.
7. If he can't rehearse often, what's his availability for gigs going to be like? I'd say pass him by.
8. Was just looking at this myself. I think the PiBass is a clever entry level head, price depending of course.
9.
Hartke LH500 - Barefaced Compact. Sorted.
Same for me.
10. Forgot to say - contact [email protected]
11. We've been booked to play for a few weeks and just found out that at this late stage they're now a couple of bands short. Anyone wanna short notice gig in Sunny SE London?
12. Daft Punk - Random Access Memories The Skints - Part and Parcel
13. Could be grind and revise O(riginal) F(inish)?
14.
There's a guitar shop in Southborough - on the main road as you head north out of Tunbridge Wells, not been in there though, just driven past it a few times.
In Southborough?? Do you mean JBs Music on St Johns? It's a bit crap for bass stuff. Clueless idiots too: They once told me there's no such thing as stainless steel strings. I'd go to Abbey Music round the corner instead. Not too much bass stock (Lower end Ibanez, Squier, MIM Fender) but they are much more friendly than JBs (and stock Rotosound SS and Elites SS). AGC in Tonbridge is the other end of the scale. Some seriously nice kit there whenever I go in. £15k for an Alembic anyone? For decent stock and a wide range of basses I take a trip to Brighton for GAK, my guitarist favours Andertons in Guildford. Bth are about an hours drive from Tonbridge / Tun Wells.
15. Hi Existing band need a new guitarist. It's an originals band (so financial gain is thin on the ground) that started just as a bit of a laugh, but has gained momentum over the last year and we'd like to build on that momentum. Age wise, we're open to anyone. There's a 20 year difference between the oldest and youngest. We're based in West Kent but gigs are usually in the greater London and Brighton areas so transport is essential. Anyone interested? Please email [email protected]. (If anyone can suggest good sites to find guitarists on, that'd be great. Bandmix and Musofinder seem to be a bit dead). Cheers
16. What sort of results are you looking for? Rough demo, release quality, somewhere in between? What are you looking to record? Solo stuff, whole band in one take or a whole band but each with their own tracks? The above will narrow down what you need hardware wise. What flavour of laptop have you got? Most Apple stuff comes with Garageband, which is a great little sequencer/audio recording program. Reaper gets a lot of love around basschat. Arguably, Protools is the industry standard. Reason (my personal favourite) is a bit different.
17.
Jon Hall - Rockinbetters
Literally LOL'ed
18. From what I've seen, there's still a healthy amount of for-sale stuff in the fora. What's definitely gone are the "feeler" ads and the really exotic stuff (the left handed, 9 string, semi-fretless Shudera an Trolembic with 7 band parametric eq, spalted truffle root top and laser etched in a paisley pattern walrus ivory fretboard). Edit: and of course, really clanky, ugly American basses that fall to bits (both authentic and otherwise)
19. Sounds like you've got a very similar wrist to me! I find a P not too bad, so long as I'm not playing anything too busy. The Ibanez necks I can't cope with at all - pain within 10 minutes usually. I find a narrow fretboard with a moderately deep neck best for me - my old 2005 Warwick was great, nearly as good is my current Epi T-bird pro. Both though put the headstock a long way away! I really want to go back to a decent P and from what I've read the Warmoth J with standard profile should be somewhere between the Warwick and the Epi. Incidentally, I've just seen a Mighty Mite jazz neck on ebay for less than £70. Could be worth trying one at that price and if it helps your wrist, sell the original P neck?
20. I saw the Vulcan at the Eastbourne Air Show last Summer. I'd never realised how huge (or loud) it was before. Amazing. I really hope this isn't the last year it flies - and I really wish I'd known it'd be at Hastings yesterday.
21. Damn! Can we have more notice next time please Mr RedX? Would have loved to have seen that.
22. I like it
23. If you really want to buy a bass as an investment, look for basses that are under-valued at the moment. Warwick's are where my money would be going at the moment, especially the old German made Corvette Std's. These are selling used for less than the Rockbass equivalent is new. Buy, wait for them to be become popular again and cash in.
24.
I love hotel California, it makes the hairs stand on the back of my neck.
I was completely overdosed on it as a child.
25. I really enjoyed it. I've never been much of an Eagles fan, it was music my parents listened to when I was little. After last night I'm going to listen to more (still can't stand Hotel California though).
