3.
Skip all the early crap and go straight to Wings......the band the Beatles could have been
Scrub that, just skipped through Band on the Run. That's all crap too
4. Skip all the early crap and go straight to Wings......the band the Beatles could have been
5.
How far away is August?
Which one? This years or next's (or the one after, etc)
6. Just gone back to Elites after trying a few other brands. For stainless steel they're quite comfy on the finger tips (Rotos seem to saw through my fingertips), reasonable price, I like the tone. Sticking with them now
7. Just back from a really enjoyable gig The New Cross Inn in south-east London. Xilddx played there with Kit on Friday and I'd asked him to verify the supplied backline. Hartke HA3500 and TE 4X10 all in working order. I decided to leave my rig at home and just take my bass in a gigbag with my PT Nano attached to it. 1st act on was a chap with an accoustic guitar. The PA was soundong really nice. We were on second - quick line / amp check and we were ready to go. Just before we started I noticed a work client and a couple of her friends were at the bar. Gave her a smile and a nod...... 1,2,3,4 GO! 40 mins shot by. We were tight, bounced back seamlessly from 1 or 2 errors, our drummer (who is really a guitarist) played in the pocket and held the tempo as well as the groove. I played my old Ibanez (which sounded and felt great, although my singer lamented that the TE didn't sound as deep or authoritative as my BF Compact). My work client was really impressed with the band too which was nice. Although my wife did suffer a touch of the green eyed monster Great night
8. If you can easily open the cabinet up, check there isn't a wire/cable in close proximity to the cone. I'd a similar intermittent problem once. Found a wire very close to the cone. Gaffa'd it so it couldn't et near the cone anymore. Buzzy-noise-be-gone.
9.
Have a daughter at Goldsmiths, (across road), will let her know..
Cheers Toddy. Students always make a great audience.
Hmm, I'm tempted. £3 is a bargain. I should be revising, but meh.
Be great to meet you if you make it mate. You'll get to hear the pedal that made your Bass Blogger redundant
10. Cheers Nige, you have a PM
11. Another gig for RunLeiaRun. Short notice this time - Monday 3rd June at the New Cross Inn, SE14 We're on 3rd out of four bands, so a full evening of music to tempt you out on the first "school night" of the week
12. Damn, I'm there on Monday. I've Just put Aug 28th in the diary
13. Righty ho - voted from the band facebook too now. Will try and do it from the business facebook tomorrow.
14. Voted as me and will vote as the band soon. Top tune. I really must get on the train up to London and see one of Kit's gigs.
15. I've got the Rat King.... If it ever broke or got pinched I'd get the Rat Tail with 2nd distortion. I only use the feedback for annoying our guitarist at rehearsals

Unfest 2013

Our show was okay, we pulled off a good performance, but shows at the Sussex on Saturday were running about an hour late by the end of the day so we were competing with Breakbeats and Goldenwonder (DJs, guitarist and sax) upstairs and not many ventured down until near the end of our set. We were running the Sussex on Sunday. My singer was running the PA downstairs, said you guys put on a great (but very loud ) set and were really nice guys to boot! I was the chap dragging the other drum kit upstairs while you were setting up (I think). Missed your set setting that up. You play the Forum ever? If you do, drop me a PM and I'll come down. Nic
17. I was going to say the BF, then I read your first post properly Get the Ampeg! You've said you're keeping the S12, so you've got light and loud covered for smaller gigs where you have to move your own gear. You don't NEED another lightweight cab. If you were selling the BF to raise cash for the new cab the following would be different. The fact you're now in one band that's started going places and gigging a lot says to me you want two things (among many others) - reliability and credibility. The Ampeg has both in spades. One of the top selling points for "proper" Ampeg kit is its reliability. I'm not saying BF is unreliable but I've not heard of many (any?) extensively touring bass players who've tested them with day after day of "unpack-from-the-van-move-to-venue-place-on-stage-play-gig-hastily-remove-from-stage-store-backstage-repack-into-van-and-keep-repeating". You can trust Ampeg to stand up to that sort of abuse. Credibility - sound engineers take a bashing around these parts, so do musos around sound engineers. Ampeg says to venue managers "professional kit" and to sound engineers the 810 is a known quantity. Makes their (often thankless) job a lot easier. Again, I'm not knocking BF. I've got a Compact, love it and the sound from a box that light and size is amazing. But engineers look at and don't know what it is. They know which mic and where to place it with Ampeg. I'm not saying BF aren't reliable and can't become a known quantity - but in your shoes, this could be your one chance at "making it". Stack the odds in your favour.
18. That's a beautiful first bass. And could well be the last bass you'll ever need. Although if you hang around here you'll have sold and bought again at least five times by Christmas
19. The RE20 is a digital pedal if I'm not mistaken. This MAY need it's own power source or an isolator if you want to avoid noise.
20.
'originals' bands seem to put the wind up landlords for some reason. Their numbers = selling beer logic goes right out the window when confronted with the unknown.
Very true, that's why we mostly have to travel up to London or down to Brighton. Plenty of music pubs around but the all want covers round here (which I've done before and may well again) or blues-rock if they must have originals.
21. I'm trying to think of a modern-ish amp that's been bad and I can't. Although the QC on the finish on some of the new Trace Elliott and Ampeg stuff has been shocking.
22.
This was my first amp - why this didn't make me give up and buy a playstation I'll never know. My next amp was a Park 100 watt combo - Marshall's budget range, I'm sure you can imagine how good my Westfield bass sounded through it.
My first amp was a Park 15w, open back and I had a Satellite bass which dragged the equation further down. A truly awful combination.
23. I can finally join in this thread - Bit of a dark picture, but I'm too busy tinkering with it to take another pic. Korg PB -> Fuzzrocious Rat King -> Boss LMB-3 all on a PT Nano that was delivered 90 mins ago
24.
The mod was done by my mate who's ex Racal and did radar electronics for them.
Glad to see one of these on here that wasn't done by me If anyone isn't familiar with these, they punch well above their weight.
