1. It changes the pick-up wiring between series and parallel. On the jazzes it meant you could get a sort of Precision tone and was loved by loads of peeps. Not so popular on the P. For that money you could get a 2009 Precision, which doesn't have the S1 switching, but does have a chunkier bridge and some of the best build quality you'll see on a Fender.
2. Mentions the S1 switching system so that's an old new P bass if you get my drift. Price seems high if it is an S1.
3. Yes
4. A rousing performance by the Plan and a mini bass-bash by the wall outside afterwards
5. TODAY!!! I'll be there with two others from my band
6. That'll be the EHX one then? Electro Harmonix micro power amp Edit for link
7. You buy the kit and mod the pedal yourself (or find someone to do it for you )
8. The Monte Allums mod for the CS3 does that swell too - but without the tone loss. Really powerful and character by the truck load
9. No mention for the EBS Microbass yet? I'm looking into the same sort of thing at the moment and the list I've looked at so far is - Hartke VXL Sansamp BDDI/PDDI Behringer BDI21 DHA's pedals MXR M80 (which I've tried and liked, but not quite the distortion I'm looking for) Radial Tonebone Aguilar Tone Hammer I wasn't aware of Fishman's offerings until just now. TBH I'm leaning towards the Sansamp (probably Para Driver if I can find one), if only because its the one that the greatest number of sound engineers will allow me to plug into their PA.
10. Graham has just this moment bought a collection of ply, drivers, hardware and paint to make an Omni10/Jack210 (or 2 1X10 equivalents). Great guy to deal with, clear communication throughout.
11.
I'd love a di box with an on board tuner.... That would be great for gear lite gigs, just me the VT bass pedal and me bass....
The Petersen Strobostomp is kind of that but with reverse priorities - a tuner with built in DI. Don't know if its any good (the DI bit) though.
12. The Bergantino looks promising..... its 30% lighter than the Ampeg 810AV. Now to go and look at Matamp heads
13.
I guessed it was Electric. My band recorded there a few years age when they didn't have a 70s SVT. We also used to practice there but we thought the practice rooms were pretty poor. We would turn up and the guitar amp wouldn't be working, our drummer would spend 45 mins trying to get the kit sorted out and I won't even start on the bass amps. We haven't been back for a while so they may have sorted it out. Friendly staff though.
The bass amps in the rehearsal rooms are mostly Ampeg BA or Mark Bass combos now I couldn't believe how light those MBs are! Still don;t like the yellow bits though
14. Thinking realistically, an SVT3Pro and a 410 (but which one?) could be the way for me to go.
15.
ive read some where that geezer butler used the micro stack for recording? it you run it at 4ohms with to of the 210's i reckon it be awesome, im eventually gonna get one for practice as i want to practice with something that sound similar to my big rig sound. andy
Just read that on the Ampeg site too. One of the heads with 2 of the cabs stacked vertically would look fantastic I'm thinking
16.
Which studio in Brighton?
Brighton Electric on Lewes Road. They've got loads of 'okay' rehearsal rooms - decent size, nice backline but poor soundproofing and a great recording studio - Protools HD and or Otari 24 track all through a Neve desk. Lovely stuff. Oh, and a vintage 70s SVT stack which I want.
17.
still sounds good though man! but is more of a practice amp/small gig amp i would love an svt if one came up in a trade for my pro-6 i'd be tempted! and 810's just rule! andy
Might have to find one to try. Mostly it'll be for practise and small gigs and also now to mic for recording (and could always mic for a bit of grind through the PA at bigger gigs). Do wish I'd tried a couple of the BA series combos they had around at the studio - very affordable.
18. A move is on the cards for next year anyway - renting our current place while the property market is in a slump. I'll have to see if Mrs C will let me put a couple of grand aside for a VST VR and 8X10 aside I've just found out the little VST (Micro VR) is solid state
19. I've never been that excited about amps before - just something loud enough for rehearsals and small gigs and I'll go through the desk for bigger gigs and recording. Until now. Just spent the weekend recording a few tracks at a studio in Brighton and they have a 70s SVT with matching 8X10 cab. OH MY GOD!! Now I get it! That is how my bass should sound. Downsides - size, weight, not exactly practical for someone who lives in a fifth floor flat. Upside - That SOUND. Maybe I need to try that new little SVT stack? Or the Tech21 VT Bass pedal with a high power lightweight rig? Or move back to a country cottage so there's no neighbours to disturb. I WANT A BIG SVT STACK AND I WANT IT NOW
20.
I don't like the heads but the cabs are savage.
I'm the other way - love their heads but don;t get on with cabs
21. If the buyer covers costs I'd be happy to pack for courrier, but two people got in by PM before you, so their top of the queue I'm afraid.
22. Hi, Since making a small start on building a BFM Jack210 in the summer and then making no progress, I have decided to see whether anyone wants to snap up the component parts. Included are - 2 X Eminence Deltalite II 2510 (Brand new, in boxes, never even broken in) Just over 1 8X4 sheet of Baltic Birch Ply Egg crate foam Tuffcab type paint (black) 8 Cab corners (plastic, black) 4 Cab feet (plastic, black) 1 cut and glued in-line 4 piezo array Speaker wire 2 Speakon sockets 1 Mounting dish for 2 Speakon sockets Speaker cloth, T-nuts, drywall screws etc etc. If anyone wants the lot - £120 collected from Tunbridge Wells, Kent. If noone wants the lot, then I may be up for selling just the Deltalites.
23. Try Gogling Gorm pedalboard. The DIY option but only £3 -£5 depending on size.
24. Another Ashdown EB180 user here. The DI doesn't cut the speaker, but turning down the master gain does. TBH I'm not a great fan of the combo sound, but the DI out from the head though a decent PA sounds glorious IMO.
