1. Yep, I once pulled out my bed so I could hoover underneath it when I was s'posed to be writing an essay
2. Kill both birds with one stone - BFM Omni10 with Basslites. 300w, 4 Ohm, much volume.
3. On my calendar too and should have two (yes, two) ladies with me.
4. Peter, you are a bad man! I have had ACG gas very badly for the last few weeks and those clips aren't helping.
5. Beyond making a 4 element cut-and-glued straight piezo array there's no progress to report. I've got all the bits, wood, paint and access to all the tools I need, but my work area is outdoors and every weekend since late August has either been busy, raining or too damn cold. Expect progress in the Spring. On an ironic note, since making the piezo array, I've been using a cab with a tweeter at one of the rehearsal spaces I use and I always turn it off after a few minutes, so I think I'll be going tweeterless.
6.
Aphex Puch Factory. It doesn't punch and it isn't a factory. Where's Trading Standards when you need them?
and +1
7. BBE Optostomp is possibly the best comp for less than £100 new. But you can find EBS and occasionaly Compulators for around £100 used
8. On board active eq's. Why are they there? I know a lot of bassists use tone controls but does it have to be on-board? A lot use compression, but you don't see that on-board too many basses. Cabs/combos with tweeters. Fender style headstocks (except the Tele' style). Guitards who think the bassists job is just to pump out root notes in every song. Bassists who think their job is to slap at 100000000nph in every song.
9. BUMP before ebay at the weekend
10. Very pretty. I like the figuring in the timber.
11. I think the Mark Hoppus Fender is a J body with P neck. But also has a P pickup.
12. Only a short drive from me, so funds permitting I'll see you there.
13. Don't think it is a Warwick, the bridge looks wrong. With the sunburst it's really difficult to see the actual body shape.
14. Biggest bit of GAS is for a warm sunny day so I can get out with the power tools and put together my BFM Omni10. Then it'll be the Hartke 500. But both of the above are carried over from 2008. Then it'll be an ACG Recurve (but not til 2010 as I also need to do some heavy saving this year). All interspersed with a Barge Concepts RC3 and a Korg Pitchblack to replace the crummy multi-fx I'm using at the mo.
15. Agree with both of the above - both should be addressed with a proper set-up job. Can't see why the bridge and tuners should have any stability issues. Works perfectly well on the Warwick Corvette Taranis
16. Wish I had the readies right now, but I don't. Never nmind, I'll snap up your next one
17. My wife has decided she doesn't play her electric enough to warrant keeping it. It's only been played a few times and is immaculate. It was £299 new and due to condition and the fact that its a discontinued model would like £225 for it inc gigbag. Buyer collects or arranges collection. Blurb from website -
From Daisy Rock Guitars, the world's first company to make guitars designed especially for girls, comes the Heartbreaker Artist Guitar. 18. Delberthot's Warmoth pre-57 P? Delberthot's bass It's got the contoured body, looks the dog-danglies and doesn't have the tree-hugging marathon-shagging one's sig at the 12th fret.
19. Yes but only slightly If I hadn't joined basschat I wouldn't have thought I needed an overdrive pedal. I bought one, didn't need it and sold it at a slight loss. I'm not someone who wants loads of basses and I'm really happy with my Corvette for now and have for a long time just wanted my ultimate Precision to go alongside it. I was gassing for a Custom Shop Thumb before I came here but now I want an ACG Recurve instead. I had planned on getting EMGs and the EMG active EQ for the Corvette, but now I want different pickups (not sure which) and the East/ACG EQ02 electronics. So my Gas has shifted, but will end up costing me the same (possibly slightly less). The only new area I'm going to spend money is on a decent amp rig. Until now any amp that's loud enough for rehearsals has kept me happy (I have DI'd for gigs since the early 90s) but I now want a lightweight cab (or two) and a head to drive them. So far I've spent about £300 on the bits for an Omni10. Just need to build the b*gg*r now.
20. +1 For the Speakeasy
21. My youngest stepson is also left handed - he's been learning the guitar for 18 months now and started on his 9th Birthday. We had a similar quandry when he first said he wanted to learn. He was adamant he couldn't manage to play right handed, but it was on my mind that if he keeps going he'll have fewer instruments to choose from and in some cases will pay a premium for a left handed model. In the end we struck a deal - start learning right handed and if he (or his teacher) think he'd do better left handed I'd restring his first guitar and buy him a proper south-paw for Christmas, if not we'd get him an electric. He has stuck with the right hander and is really happy he did. He's at the age where a lot of friends started guitar and lost interest so he's buying up their instruments for pocket money or swapping them for Playstation and Nintendo games and now has more guitars than his mum and I put together. The only downside is he's started talking about bass and has his eye on my Warwick!
22. I'm finally ironing out my bum notes in Dune Tune after playing it wrong for almost twenty years.
23. Start a savings account for my dream bass
24. Me without the goatee (see New Yer Rosolutions thread in Off Topic)
25. It's probably gotta be just 1 of the three due to those famous bugbears, time and money.
