  1. Hmmm those Prolights look good, might even be within budget

    Overdrive?

I had the bass modded HA Bad Monkey. Sounded good to me. danny, are you sure yours wasn't the standard HA mod (as opposed to bass)?
  3. If you want simple then you could do worse than the Boss ME50B
  4. I had a HA bass modded one for a while - first thing I did was open it up to have a look inside and there's not a lot you can do - vey few discrete components compared to your average Boss pedal. I think the bass mods just moved the frequencies to be more relevant for bass. I know Bassmankev had a standard one and was happy with it.
  5. Or look at Jon Shuker's stock basses - there's a couple of Jazzes on there for less than you'd pay for a new US jazz!
  6. Mani - Stone Roses Duck Dunn And to pick someone more "technical" Doug Wimbish
  7. fairy tale of new york is the only good xmas song according to my band's singer
  8. That's a nice looking Jazz, especially without the pickguard
  9. The spirit of "off-topic" makes it to "bass guitars"
  10. Ignore the above, I now know you're not.
  11. Nice one WPD! Same venue? I might be able to make that one

    Warmoth

That's good to hear about the necks, I like quite a deep profile. I'm one of the few that loves Warwick's bolt-on necks.

As far as I understand you're liable for import tax and duty, which is why I wanted to check no one's unhappy with what they have got from Warmoth. (more spelling editing - where the hell did I come up with input tax?)

    Warmoth

Nope, that's exactly what I want to hear I've even been through the unofficialwarmoth.com board and can't even find anyone on there who's been unhappy. Once I've got my ultra simple P, the next step will be to pimp-up my Warwick Corvette to the max - active everything, switchable everything, etc, etc and then get/build a classic-style Jazz to cover the middle ground :-)

    Warmoth

As my current project is going to be completed as soon as I get a sunny weekend in (Omni10 and LH500 Head to replace my Ashdown combo), I'm pre-planning my next bit of DIY. I fancy a really simple bass - 51P body, jazz width telebass neck, 1 split p pickup (or possibly the Lindy Fralin split 51 pickup), one volume and a jack socket where the tone would normally be and either Gotoh or Badass bridge, lightweight vintage style tuners. I realise I could get the fender Mike Dirnt P and just whip out the tone control for less cash, but want something special to me. I've searched the threads on here and there's certainly a lot of love for those who've gone the Warmoth route, but is there anyone who's had a bad experience of using Warmoth? Just wanted to ask before I start earmarking funds. (Editted for spelling)

Dave, Any news on this? I fance a VT1 std in the near future but would like a painted one.
  18. Oi Nik!!!!! Are you still playing Mullens on Friday? If so I might pop down with Annie and buy you a drink during the interval. We've got friends down there who are due a visit and a trip to see you guys play would make the visit a lot more bearable for me Plus I want to drop a copy of my bands demo in at Mullens anyway.
  19. Hi Wayne, I can't be there due to it being rehearsal night for my band and we frantically need to write some new originals for a gig in January. Have a great one! Keep posting details of your gigs though and I'll see if I can get some of my Herne Bay/Whitstable friends to come along too.
  20. Ultimate for me Small to 2u rack in size 500w into 4ohm Valve pre (if it could have a footswitchable second valve for a bit of drive so much the better). EQ - Bass, para (or two would be nice) with Q, high. Decent compressor (with at least threshold, ratio, attack and release, although these can be on trim pots inside the case), footswitchable. Mute for tuner, footswitchable . Balanced DI. At least one speakon. Less than £300 and available in Sainsburys or Tescos would be perfect please. (editted to remove the fx loop - don't want to be greedy for my £300)
  21. Oops sorry Bod! Forgot about searching  Useful stuff in there.
  22. As per the title really - if you play in a band, what do you do about lights? It's suddenly become an issue for my band that we dont have lights.
  23. I used to be one! Early '97 I'd had enough of my band and didn't have the enthusiasm anymore to go and find another. Sold my basses (an MIA P and an MIM P) and amp (Trace Elliot combo) and bought a computer, synth and guitar and spent the next few years trying (and failing) to make music on my own. From there I moved on to engineering and producing music for a couple of friends who were pretty good songwriters. It was only two or three years ago that I moved house and found that the guy next door was a songwriter and tasty guitarist as well. After a couple of jams with him I was inspired to pick up a bass again. Went out and bought a Warwick, joined a band and am having more fun than ever with music.
  24. We usually two C1000s as kit overheads but last weekend had one a floor tom - sounded really good
  25. Wayne, I'm not on Facebook so can't see the details, but two or three of us from my band might come along if you could let me know where and when.
