1. +1 On the Tumb thing Josh. Years ago (in the 8os) I played a NT Thumb (the only sort back then) and I swear the thing played itself. If I get another 'wick it'll be a CS NT Thumb, or maybe an NT Corvette $$.
2. Tastes change I guess, the world and its wife want classic Fenders and clones thereof. Warwick still make some fantastic instruments. I love my Corvette even tough I'm a Precision man at heart.
3. Not sure, but I think its made by Chris Eccleshall - he's got three I think. Pickups have been chopped about on the main one over the years. The electronics are the same as used in the old Yamaha BB1200. Effects wise he's a big fan of the EHX Clone Theory.
4. Another vote - and nice songs BTW
5. Now gone to a new home!
6. Good to read favourable reports on the LH500 - I'm thinking of getting one to partner my Omni10 (still in porgress). It was one fo the things I was really looking forward to trying at the SEBB.
7. Anyone know where you can find these pedals for sale - I really want to try that compressor.
8. Just to point out it's a CS3 not a CS2.
9. It's pretty probable that I won't be able to make it either - my debit card has been cloned (no money was taken thankfully, but a lot of incorrect attempts at my pin means my card was locked). The card has now been cancelled, so I can't get money out or buy petrol until my new card arrives.

Run Leia Run

BBC - A mixture of both and some in-betweens (covers in an original stylee )
11. Having not done any serious recording since early last year, I have decided to offer up my trusty M-Audio Solo. Details can be found here - M-Audio Solo A nice, simple recording interface for PC/Mac. Mic and guitar inputs on the front, two line level inputs on the back for mixer / preamp / other source. Also digital stereo in/out which works simultaneously with either set of analogue inputs. It's not boxed and I don't have the CD, but if you want to buy and let me know what operating system you have, I will burn the crrect drivers for you. £50 gets you the Firewire Solo, two firewire 400 leads (one with a mini-firewire plug at one end for laptop owners), a PSU (for use if your computer doesn't provide power via Firewire) and the disc mentioned above. PM me if interested please. Nic NB Does NOT include the Ableton Live mentioned on the M-Audio website.
12. Arrrrrrrgh!!!!! GAS! GAS! GAS!
13. Going back to the OP, sounds to me that Eskimobassist is after a limiter rather than a stomp-box compressor. If he just wants to smooth out the peaks then he'll want zero attack, long release and v high (or infinite) ratio.

Run Leia Run

My band, Run Leia Run, has landed our first public gig. 11th October, Kelsey Arms, St Johns road, Tunbridge Wells. And hopefully another a few weeks later in Maidstone :-)
18. You need to convert the section to an apple loop. Can't remember how to do it tho - it's been nearly two years since I've done any recording in Garageband.
19. My "dream" bass has been my regular daydream for months, currently (since hearing that Status are dropping the Smartbass - I did want a walnut 4 string with passive p pickup) - Status "J" neck, lightweight vintage tuners Warmoth J body in either black w/ tort scratchplate or natural w/ black scratchplate (if they can find nice piece of ash) Delano split coil J pickups, pasive vvt pots with a series/parallel switch badass bridge straplocks Chrome or black hardware. Just want a nice, stable "set and forget" instrument with a range of traditional tones. Nice!
20. Another Bowie fan here! 12 years ago I was in a band that was doing a cover of Ziggy Stardust when I started the segue into Suffragette City and the lead guitarist and drummer flowed suit. After that it stayed in our set list. Great fun!
21. As a neophyte speaker builder who has spent the rainy summer playing with winISD rather than building the BFM I've got the bits for, the issue weighing most on my mind is the pros and cons of the different design paradigms.
22. Oh yes indeedy - especially looking forward to Alex C's workshop
23. Hi all, there's pretty much zero chance my BFM will be finished in time, so better scrub mine from the list.
24. All the best for tonight Sarah. I know a bit how you're feeling - My current band have our first gig tomorrow and it's my first since last summer.

DIY Compressors

If you're using the Boss one (CS3) and find it too noisy, and are happy with soldering I can recommend the Monte Allums opto comp mod for it. Loads less noise (even less if you for the optoplus mod, but I found it fine with just the opto mod) and much more squish. It doesn't cost much either.
