Good choice but I'd still try before buying. It's a good but not very subtle compressor and for the same money (if you can solder) you can have a Monte Allum modded Boss CS3 which is similar but cleaner. On the other hand you've got the smx fans, which is both good, subtle (IMPO too subtle but I'm a comp junkee) and controllable (and built like no other fx pedal out there). Then there's the valve comp fans. Noisey but a sound to die for. Compression is like boobies...any is better than none, but we've all got our favourite flavours!

The Demeter is a serious compressor! I wouldn't use something as "budget" as the Boss supply with it. Unless you can invest in a serious adapter, just run it on batteries (unless you've got a lot of pedals in which case...Buy a serious pawer supply).

More suited to the studio environment than live as its hard wired and cat 5e doesn't like being coiled and uncoiled too much if you wanna keep all four pairs working. Shame really cos the singer in my band got really excited about this system (he's a wireless nut).

Found out yesterday that our singer got a bit tipsy over the weekend and ordered a 20 cubic foot (5' X 4' X 2') flightcase for PA and mic leads. Oh the fun we'll have lugging that up stairs and onto stages!

I tend to swap about a bit, but I always seem to come back to stainless steel Elites in 45-105. I love the tone (both on my old Precisions and on my Warwick Corvette), price and they last a reasonable time. Rotosounds I love the tone of when they're new but they go dead too quick and I find them really rough on the fingers. I've had Elixirs on the Warwick since last Summer and they still sound good as new (although the coating is really shredded and looks awful), but they don't give me "my tone". Mostly punk/rock played fingerstyle but occasional pick and (very poor) slapping.

You could put a jack into the eadphome socket before switching off if you're worried about speaker damage.

No worries, in a way its a relief - I'm considering one of your 400w amps at some point (once the omni10s are built, new IEMs are purchased, I have my dream precision etc) and I'd feel obliged to have the matching comp if available but TBH I like my compression slid state lol.

It's got a solid state power amp, so doesn't need to have a load attached. Solid state amps just need a load that is larger than the minimum (no speaker = infinite load). Valve amps MUST have a load that is matched to the output.

Not sure about the rust (unless its just surface rust) but anything mildly acidic will get rid of general crap - vinegar, cola etc. Clear spirits (Vodka, Gin, surgical spirits). If you try both of the above methods, do not drink the Vodka and coke you'll be left with.

Usually to the drummer's right - I'm another that finds that side easiest for eye-contact with everyone else. Last gig I had to go to the other side as I was delegated the task of slapping down the second guitarist when he decided to play new versions of sngs we'd been rehearsing for weeks (he ain't with us anymore).

If you like the Ashdown sound, then that's agood price on the ABM. Another one to add to the list is the Warwick Profet 3.2
