Stage monitor which is small, powerful and high-quality?
The Dark Lord replied to The Dark Lord's topic in Other Instruments
We used two last night. We only put vocals through them. We did use them for full monitoring once (bass, guitar, kick and vocals) and we found they farted out a bit. We had to back off the bass and volume to stop that ..... and then we couldn't hear them as much as we wanted ..... nearly, but it was marginal. -
LED Stage light recommendations please
The Dark Lord replied to Hamster's topic in Accessories and Misc
QTX SPSW all the way. The difference these have a great wide spread of light. Much better than most others. £89 each. We have four of them that we got from here: http://www.guitarandampshop.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000001.pl?REFPAGE=http%3a%2f%2fwww.guitarandampshop.co.uk%2f&WD=qtx&PN=QTX_SP-SW_Stage_Wash_LED_PAR_Can_Light_Effect__153.786UK_.html%23a11249#a11249 T-Bar that we bought for £15 on ebay ..... http://www.whybuynew.co.uk/stands/lighting-stands/heavy-duty-lighting-t-bar-for-speaker-lighting-stands-.htm which we stuck on a speaker stand. Sometimes we stick all four on there, sometimes just two with the other two point up with a sound to light mode on. You can get all four of them to work in unison. If you have three poles with four on each you could get them all working together, Have to be a big stage to use twelve of these though. They are very powerful. -
Bergantino are back with neo loaded cabs...

I see that the 1x12 is a little bit heavier than Barefaced's Compact 1x15. -
It's okay JJ Burnel still on list of Ashdown artists

It's the poor grammar that upsets me the most.

My year of living, erm, monobassically.

The black one. -
Yeah. I think a lot of us a devoted Rotosound round geezers. I fancy I'll have a dabble with flats though.
-
I've just bought a bass with Fender flats on and I'm not sure about them. They have a great feel to them and suit the bass (feel wise) very well. It's an Epiphone Jack Casady bass. Only trouble is, I get a less crisp sound out of them. Sort of duller and more muted ..... like the treble has been rolled off the bass. I don't know if it's the bass itself or is that the sound of flats? Never played them before .... although there were a set of TI flats on a Precision I bought once, but I ignored them and removed them straight away without really testing them. Might get another set of flats and put them on one of my Precisions as a test ......... or will I find that flats are just generally muted in sound? By the way I'm a pick player with a somewhat more aggressive right hand use than normal.

Since it is a forum though, Mr icastle, I suspect the other guys deserve to know that their data has been compromised. You are a forum administrator, you know the answer to that. Maybe we should debate this in private.
Really? I find that presumption a little bit disturbing. I'm sat here, at home, posting this from behind TWO hardware firewalls (from two different manufacturers) and a software firewall plus an up to date AV package. I've yet to speak to anyone in the Admin team, many of whom are also IT professionals, that doesn't have an appropriate degree of protection. If you'd like to send us the header information contained within this particular piece of spam mail then I'll see if we can throw any light on what's happened here.
Thanks for your assistance guys. I now know what I need to know. I'm done with this subject.

Bought a Fender acoustic bass from me. Prompt payment, great communications, sale couldn't have gone any better. Hop enjoy the bass.

Yep. I've used mine for half a dozen gigs now. Brilliant. Much better than lugging a massive wedge about. Does the job just fine. Love it. -
Well, the OP seems to have the right idea I think.

Well done fellow Fender user. It's a no-brainer to have the distinct email thing like you and I on places like this. My guess is that it was during the recent hack that basschat had ..... a few months back as I remember? In that time, all of our emails would have been collected. It's only to be expected on a non-technical forum. I consult and lecture on the subject. I'm completely secure - but just thought it best to mention for the benefit of others who may be vulnerable. Be careful on forums.

It's okay now guys. Ped answered my question really. I know where it comes from. I have locked down my system to the source and I'm secure.

I got a 3/4 size jobbie in my Audi TT MK2 with the seats folded down once. So, I'd say 'probably'.

The Dark Lord replied to The Dark Lord's topic in General Discussion
Emailed Ashdown and got the following straight from the horse's mouth (email from Mark Gooday) yes he is just our web is new :-) and we have not loaded our artists all up again. So no worries there then. -
But don't worry. My question has been answered by Ped. All basschat email is now marked requiring verification on my mail system.
-
No offence taken. You're probably unaware that I own a string of computer service and security companies and hold Cisco architect level qualifications and a Microsoft mail MVP. I know what you say, but no. The breach didn't come from me. For security reasons, I delete all registration emails and have no trace of my site specific email on my email system. It's not me. It's Basschat. I know what is very likely to have happened. One or more of the site admins (probably all of them) operate behind either no firewall or a poor one. If any of them surf naughty things on the same PC, then who knows who have all of email addresses by now. Just sayin.....
I just looked in my spam email and have found the same message, but it's not gone to my registered BC email address.
Well, it has to mine - and basschat is the only place that knows that email - so it MUST have come from basschat somehow.
-
I have also had that email but not to the email address I currently use for BC. It is however an old email address that a lot of BC members have used and occasionally still use. I suspect the problem lies elsewhere.
In my case, nobody else knows that email address. How could the problem lie elsewhere?

Bought a Barefaced cab from Franko. Great deal, nice bloke, cab as described and in full working order. Happy days. Also ...... this man is a packaging Jedi Master. Nothing was going to happen to it wrapped up that way. Well done that man.

You know, maybe it's just me, but I expected some kind of mod to reply to this !!!! Let me be more specific. When I register on a site of any kind, I always register with an email address which is specific to that site. I can do that as I own my own email domain. That way, if I ever get spam through that address, I know what the source of the spam was. The other day, I started receiving spam to that email address ....... meaning that, the only way I could be receiving such emails were if: (1) Basschat were sending them (2) Basschat's security had been compromised in some way and a third party had gained access to their email accounts list. This is not great performance guys!
