Yes. But some Fender haters just won't let it lie for some reason! If you don't like Fenders, don't buy one, it's very simple. And those of us who like Fenders aren't going to be swayed by forum opinions, so stop being control freaks!
Yep. Us Fender lovers don't slag off other bass manufacturers and their fans. In fact, we're not particularly interested. If you don't like them, don't buy them. -
Well here endeth the debate. Fender die hards (as usual) will not hear a word said against the company - and are willing to accept poor QC and flawed / loose joints. I am sure that Fender really appreciate your continued support. Your loyalty and willingness to accept a low standard of finish works to their advantage. It is nice for them to know that any bass with the F word on the headstock is above reproach! The objective amongst us however feel Fender could step their game up and match companies like Lakland who consistently build Fender style basses to a higher standard of fit and finish for less cash. You make your choice and pay your hard earned as you see fit.
Biased nonsense. -

I am very disappointed by this. -
They're not for me, BUT, if that's what you've always wanted, then go get that Ric. I'd maybe suggest you get a second hand one (possibly from here) so that, if it turns out to be not to be your dream thang .... you can move it on without taking too much of a hit.

Anyone got any thoughts on the Roland Micro Cube?
The Dark Lord replied to rasher80's topic in Other Instruments
I have the guitar one. I use it for noodling around at home and while sitting at the computer learning a new song off youtube. Great little piece of kit. -
Up for sale was my TC Electronic Rig comprising: [s]RH450 - £395 (costs £675 new) [/s] .... SOLD! [s]RS210 - £285 (costs £429 new) .[/s]... SOLD! [s]RS112 - £215 (costs £350 new)[/s] SOLD! Speakers bought new about 18 months ago, head bought on here at the same time. All of it gigged by me about a 20 times in that period. No damage to any of the cabinets. Head works perfectly, has the odd small scratch here and there on the case, but nothing worth talking about. All the buttons are perfect and function well. I have switched to an even smaller car, so changing to 2 x AER Amp One's instead (one for small gigs, two for larger ones). Cash or direct Paypal please. Based in Worthing and Southampton and can deliver around and between there or meet not too far. I can courier any part of it to you.

Up for sale is my Tech 21 Power Engine. This is a 1 x 12 powered cabinet - solid state 60 watts. It's loaded with a Celestion 12" speaker. If you're reading this, you probably know all about them. They're designed for use with effects pedals (particularly multi-effects boards or pedals with amp emulators in them). It is designed not to colour the sound in any way. If you play a Vox AC30 patch through it - it sounds like a Vox AC30 etc. It's mainly aimed at the guitarist, but I have used this with my Line 6 X3 live to emulate bass amps like the Bassman, SVT range or old Marshalls etc with my Precisions and it sounds just great. I use it for home recording and practice. You could easily gig this as a guitar amp in a pub with a guitar and an effects pedal. I've done that on may a gig. It's in really good condition and full working order. Needs to go as I've just purchased a Cornford Carrera and need the space. Looking for £180. Either picked up from Worthing or Southampton or can meet somewhere close or along that way. Look here for more details. http://goo.gl/H7vtg

Custom flight cases - where can I get some?
The Dark Lord replied to The Dark Lord's topic in Accessories and Misc
Call Ron at BCS, they're based in North Boarhunt near Portsmouth. Excellent cases and very reasonable rates indeed. You're after a 'top hat' case I think you'll find. BCS will build whatever you want.
Thank you Steve. That's actually nearly on my route home from work - which is ideal. I had no idea they were there. I've seen their website - and I'll give them a call. Incidentally, I probably didn't explain it 100% well. We use 2 x Roland SA-300 for our PA. Which is an unbelievable brilliant solution for all kinda pub gigs. We just stack them on the floor - and I'm looking for a flight case that will take the head and lower speaker in on case. Thanks for the tip - I'll explore that option. -
Anyone on here had custom flight cases made? I figure I should get some for our floorstanding PA system speakers. I fancy those things with the shallow bases - like people put their 4x10 guitar cabinets on ...... the top lifts off, but the cab still sits in the base with the castor wheels. Anyone had this done or know where the best place is?

Being realistic, bass playing is a minority activity. There are not that many bass players out there in the UK - certainly not enough to provide a reasonable audience for a magazine. That means niche (in fact very small niche) publishing. The publisher is not going to have the revenue to provide enough staff and certainly it will not be enough revenue to employ talented journalists. That's the real world. In reality, we get our bass info from places like Talk Bass, Basschat, Youtube, the Internet in General, Youtube and our local shops. No place for a bass magazine in today's world. Sorry.
The Darklord returns with the worlds fattest string. And this, I dont even know what to think! In fairness it is only £299 which makes it the cheapest bass they make by almost £300!
Sandpaper will only partly do the job - I've tried it. Why not spend a few pounds and get something that will remain in perfect condition doing the job required of it AND has the benefit of being transferrable to any other pick ? Saves any 'skint' fingers etc. As I say I've tried many things to 'improve' my grip on picks and nothing has come as close to perfection as the Pick Bag. Just my opinion but relevant nevertheless - even Bass Guitar Magazine agreed with me !
Are you in any way involved with the company?
[sub]My vote goes with The Dark Lord. Over the years i have had many different basses, but for me Fenders just do it. I'm sure there are some issues with any mass production bass but i have never owned a bad Precision or Jazz. They may not suit everyone but the majority still seem to find them to be the bass to play.[/sub] [sub]Recently I bought three basses from this site, all MIA, a jazz deluxe, precision deluxe and a standard precision. All of them are just fine. [/sub] [sub]How can anyone knock a bass that is really the industry standard?[/sub]
Word. -

The Dark Lord replied to clashcityrocker's topic in Bass Guitars
Lots of drivel on here from the Fender haters. I've had countless Fender basses and nearly as many guitars. Virtually all USA models - and never had a problem. I have the money to buy whatever I like ..... and I buy Fender. The way some of these guys are spouting tosh on here, you'd think that every Fender hanging in every shop was sub-standard. Not at all. There is a reason why the overwhelming majority of basses you will see on stage, or in a pub near you, have either Fender or Squier on the headstock. It's because they are good and the bass players of this world like them. Let the haters prattle on. Poor chaps. I'm sure their lives will get better some day. -
There seems to be a lot of Fender haters on here, but I absolutely love my American Precision. The action on these guitars is always high at first. You have to play a guitar in, before you can lower the action so whats the problem?
Yep. Funny how we don't complain about their Fender copies.
Excelllent advice. If i was a director in Fender i would be reading this thread with one of two reactions. 1. This is a wake up call and our name is no longer fit to be on our products because the basses are so hit and miss and the sales staff dont help. We gotta geta grip of this and maintain our integrity . For the sake of the legacy of the man whose name is on the headstock. If leo was here would this be happening..? 2. Ha ha ha ha. People, kids, the dogs in the street will buy our bass no matter what. Because we are fender. Not because it is a good bass every time. At the risk of starting something. Henry ford invented the car and they went through a time when the only thing they were good for was pushing downhill to start on a wet winter morning. Now they have got their act together because the competition get better evry day and after my fiesta mk2 misery i wud consider one again. I owned a fender usa p from 1994 and only sold it recently to upgrade out of need. Having spent some time shopping recently id say the same spec usa p bass aint as good. Hit and miss is the norm . Try before u buy. Never buy a fender u havnt playd. Sound familiar?
I don't think this is accurate in any way shape or form. This post, to me, says more about the poster than the reality of the situation.
