1. As I am the Dark Lord after all - and live just down the road - I really should buy this bass.
2. I play in a pub duo playing mainly Indie songs but mixing in some punk and pop numbers. My guitar playing associate is a huge Beatles fan and I want to suggest one of their numbers to play in our set. I would prefer it to be a punchy up tempo and relatively simple number. Any suggestions for what the best choice would be? We alternate lead and harmony vocals if that helps ...... and we are happy to re-arrange things too.
3. If their bandwidth limit is exceeded .... that shows a pretty poor bit of management from what should be a serious company. Their website should be a crucial element of their business - so such a lack of attention to detail in such an important area may point to poor management in other areas. It would worry me. I believe they are in Carlise. Can't you visit them with it?
4. I've heard good things about these. Must investigate.
5.
Fender Precision & Ampeg
Yes, a USA Precision through an SVT head and SVT matching 810 cab is bliss in the extreme. Can't be bothered with the weight any more though.
6. Not sure what you would get out of these that you couldn't get from far more cost-effective units.
7.

+ 1 for this
8. Do Badass bridges actually make any difference?
9.
And this relates to the thread because...? If you mean, why were basses built in China eliminated from the challenge, then the answer is simple. It was because it is too easy to find a bass manufactured in China (or Taiwan, or Indonesia) that fulfills the other criteria. If Chinese-made basses had been allowed, it would not have been a challenge but a simple purchasing exercise.
Ok. Understood.
10. This is a very good thread. Well done.
11. Interesting bass - have a bump
12. Oh I might just catch this
13. Anyone else out there got one of these AER Amp One combos? I've never tried to attach any other cabs .... and was thinking of buying one of the 15" Aer Cab Two extension cabs to go with it. I'm not even sure I can do that, as I've never tried any of the various outputs. There is a "sub" output which I guess would work with a 15" cab. By the way, I've had my AER Amp One for a few months now. I use it for rehearsals, small to medium gigs etc. I luuuuuurve it. EVERYONE who sees it first comments on the wonderful sound and then the tiny size ..... and scratch their heads. Mind you, despite it's tiny dimensions, it must be made out of material from a black hole .... as it feels very, very heavy for its size.
14. Get yourself a TC Electronic RS212. Somewhat expensive, but quite portable, unrivaled build quality and nothing compares to its sound quality. For the best, you have to fork out just a little more.
15. What's wrong with China. Everything we buy comes from there. They probably have higher prduction standards than UK or EU sourced products.
16. Sounds good - will investigate
17. Yep. Wireless is good. Just make sure you change the batteries in the transmitter as a precaution before each gig.
18. I like my holes on the top. That's where they should be. They come out less easily from there I find.
19.
I really like that, it`s so wrong, that it`s right.
Yep. That's about the size of it. Very good price mind. Could be a laugh.
20. I remember mine being noisy and making swishing noises. They do look cool though in a way.
21. Listen to this (the bit that starts 40 seconds in) for Holy Grail tone.
22. Just doing it for the first time will teach you a lot - which will prepare you more for the 2nd time. Just have a go and learn from your mistakes.
