Hi Merc.......I was wondering how does it sound the Amp One with the fingers. With the pick it sounds great!......It's a 10'' not a 12''. And....don't you miss the tweeter? cheers
Sorry, did I say it was a 1 x 12" somewhere? Can't see that I did ..... and if I did I didn't mean to. Don't know what the Amp One sounds like with fingers. Never really done so. Nope, don't miss the tweeter as the Amp One has such a huuuuuuuge range of tones from highly sharp trebly to deeeeeep bass. I don't guess it needs a tweeter. Not for me anyway. -
They're all Google ads, we don't determine what shows up.
Err. Yes you do. Your Google Adwords control panel allows you to block categories of adverts AND it also allows you to block specific sites. So the dude who does that at Basschat could block that site ..... and any other site which you don't like the look of. It's only a couple of keystrokes and it's done instantly

Play about 1/4 of our set with a Telecaster going through a Line 6 X3 Live and into a TC Electronics RH450 (on a clean setting) with TC RS112 and RS210 speaker stack. Sounds as good as the guitarist's Fender Reverb.
I've never heard of 'Vintage White' being a colour?? Apart from people describing reissue colours as such? Lovely looking bass Gareth, surprised it's still available, sign of the times i guess!
Lookey here then http://www.fender.com/en-GB/products/search.php?partno=0253900541

TC Electronic RS112. Nothing else comes close in sound and/or build quality. -
Good looking cabs with the silver cloth. I wouldn't have thought that would have made an improvement, but it did.

Not happy with my recorded sound. Advice needed.

You could try compression. Not too much as it takes all of the articulation out of it. Or, If you have a limiter (rather than a compressor) you could try that. Lops of the peaks. -

Not really keen on instrumentals. And anyway, it's not a song in that case. -
Anyway by watching the Graham Norton show you have forfeited any right to an educated opinion
Although that doesn't apply when Amy Pond is on it. Superbabe. Didn't realise she was so tall. -
hmmm.....not my cuppa. HFB album is just Oasis to me. Predictable songs dictated by the chords they know. (Wonderwall 2 seems to be on the album) Sorry mate but in the grand scheme of rock'n'roll, this guy aint a God. I find the Gallagher's obnoxious. Everyone to his own!
I've no problem with that. Some people love 'im, some don't. To me, he plays simple, no bullshit, catchy chuunes that you can sing to. He also plays guitar without the need to get all w***y and widly about it. To me, he deserves his seat at the top table. He's also coool as you like. I really don't agree with that bloke above who said he was shaking or loaded. But again, each t his own. -

Really? I didn't get that from the interview. -
A genius and God of rock and roll. No other way of looking at it. AND he's always value for money in interviews. A hoot a minute. Very intelligent man. He played that If I Had a Gun song. Top notch.
that Amp sounds amazing!
Yeah. It's the best piece of musical gear I've ever bought. £1,000 seems a lot for a small bass combo, but have a search on this forum for user comments. All of us who have them are blown away by the sound quality, the compact dimensions - and the astonishing volume you get from it. Every time I play through it with someone present, they say "wow, that sounds great". I have commented on here before that you could easily play a gig in a pub with two rock guitarists and a drummer with it. In fact, I have. Mind you, I am a pick player. I am seriously considering replacing my main rig with four of these to create a 4 x 10 800 watt combo ....... or should that be a 4 x 1x10 800 watt combo. Then I would have the ultimately flexible arrangement where I could take 1, 2 or 4 units depending on the gig ..... and could easily store them in the house. -
I think Flea and JJ Burnell seem to be number one for alot of people, but not that many like both of them, I wonder if it's seperated by taste or by age?
I like 'em both - but they are VERY different in playing style. They are both ultra cool in their own distinct way. Flea is a great player with a distinctive playing style - although not the way I would identify with. Love the RHCP music in general though. JJB is THE man - the reason why I picked up a bass in the first place. -
On one or two of the topics I remember someone saying that the sound of a bass was all down to its electronics. There was talk of a test where someone put some P bass (or something) pickups on a plank of wood - and the sound was no different to when the pickup was actually on the Precision ...... or something like that. So ..... does that mean, if I change the 2 x Vintage MEC humbuckers on my 1999 Warwick Streamer to a P / J arrangement - then the bass will all of a sudden sound like a P / J ?????? Or even some way close to a P / J ?? If so, I'll do it - as the Streamer is extremely playable, light, with a great, great neck - but doesn't have as good a sound as a P / J (or even a P). If anyone has any views on this I'd be interested.
-
Dammit. I accidentally watched that clip of Talking Heads on The Old Grey Whistle Test and I now "need" a Fender Mustang bass. I guess that's what it was? Now she's a proper bass player.
Perhaps you could point me towards a take on a P bass you do like? Or are you simply trolling?
I'm not trolling. As for "......a take on a P Bass that I like?......" My whole point is that I don't like any takes on P basses or J basses. Do you think they could have achieved the same sound with a different body shape and a different pickguard. Yeah, probably. So why didn't they. Because they want to chase sales using someone else's design.
-
Forced originality? I've heard it all now. A new zenith in claptrap. Whichever way you wrap it up, copying other people's designs for the sake of chasing sales, IMHO is just poor. Come on guys - be brave. Make your own designs. If Leo was just like you, we'd still all be playing upright basses.
Try reading the rest of the thread....including Sheldon's response on this page!! I also noticed Dave Swift using it, looked cool and was a very supportive sound, which is what he's all about Si
I have read the whole thread. In my view, the manufacturer could have created their own pick guard design but has deliberately virtually copied the Fender design. I think that is very poor, with no justification ..... other than chasing sales by riding on someone else's coat tails.
-
Why oh why oh why is the pick guard a rip off shape of the Fender version. Have people got no imagination? For heavens sake - if you are a bass maker, show some originality.
It's Olympic White. 70s Fenders age to a creamy yellow over time. It's the degradation of the poly coating that does it. The finish beneath will still be the original colour. This is a 76P I had for 35 years: http://basschat.co.u...ost__p__1226142 You can see the original colour where the poly coating is worn away.
That's very interesting. I stand corrected. It's a great looking bass right now - whatever it looked like in the past. I did think it was Vintage White - as that's what mine is. Here's a pic: http://www.flickr.com/photos/91866150@N00/6601562947/ Virtually identical to that, except with Rosewood. I prefer the look of the maple mind.

TC say you can run these things with three of their cabs. Technically, running with 3 would brint the load to under 4 ohms, but in their on-site videos, Uffe says that's okay. Soundwise, I dunno. I personally run with 1 x RS210 with 1 x RS112 below in a vertical stack. Sounds top notch. I notice the RS112, when run by itself, gives a deeeeeeeep tone. When you add an RS210, you gey that, plus some tighter mids. Maybe 3 x RS112 would give a cool deep tone in general - but I like te way I do it.
