Ha, yeah Chris has been doing gigs with FGtR for quite a while now. He fits everything in around

the ELO Experience dates, works well for him. I must get to see him with them sometime soon.

I'll be playing with them at Whitby Pavilion on 14th Feb & Wakefield Theatre Royal on 15th Feb if you fancy coming? Not sure if Chris will be on those shows though? You'd need to check in with him...

  2. I depped with the Spandau Ballet/Duran Duran tribute show 'From Gold To Rio' at Eastleigh Concorde Club last night!

Great gig and best bass sound I've had in my KZ IEMs thanks to my Spectors, HAZardlAMPs pedal, GK Legacy800 and a cracking sound team the band use...

@casapete - the keyboard player was Chris, your old bandmate in ELO Experience!

  3. So, finances allowing..... in 2025 what bits of gear are on your GAS wish list?

    Me? I'd like:

Epiphone Grabber (if/when they drop to a sensible price) - not sure on natural or black though....
Epiphone G3 (possibly......dependent on price when they're finally released)

Squier 40th Anniversary P bass (black and gold with block inlays)
    LFSys Monaco 1x12 cab

  4. Sadly I can't now make the SOLD OUT 'Young Gun Silver Fox' gig at Islington Assembly Hall on Saturday night.

    https://islingtonassemblyhall.co.uk/events/young-gun-silver-fox-30th-nov-islington-assembly-hall-london-tickets/

If you like classic 'West Coast/Rock n Soul' you will love them. Think Hall & Oates meets Doobie Brothers.....

If anyone would like to buy my ticket from me I will donate the money to @AndyTravis daughter Iris' fund (as discussed extensively elsewhere). The ticket is just £20 and I can transfer in the Ticketmaster App.

  5. Played a tiny pub in Send, Surrey on Sat night with a local covers band I've recently joined for sh*ts n giggles...
We had to set up down one end of the pub, in front of the roaring fireplace, which meant the drummer pleading with the landlady to extinguish the fire after soundcheck as his back was hotter than the sun 🤣
Howling wind and rain meant probably only about 25-30 in but a fun night. Played my 40th Anniversary Squier P as I seldom take my Spectors out to unknown pub venues..... but it sounded & performed admirably!
Punters seemed to enjoy the 60's/70's set (Kinks, Bowie, T Rex, Elvis Costello, Ian Dury, Joe Jackson, John Denver, Neil Young, Squeeze etc) and I even had two guys come up and compliment me on doing 'Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick'! Apparently they'd never heard anyone attempt it before....! ;)

Industry stats show guitar sales in the US boomed during COVID but crashed in the UK.  They've recovered slightly but not enough to arrest the general downward slide of sales.  Some are suggesting it's the lack of interest from Gen Z.  Some are saying it's the sheer mass of used instruments that are available...but at what price point?  I'm aware of a lot of hoarding going on...Status...Wal...limited editions of other brands as well and some brands have cashed in on that notion of exclusivity. So I'm curious to know how well those brands who pushed up their prices significantly a couple of years ago are doing these days (Ernie Ball and Warwick...looking at you).   Over the last 5-7 years lump sum pension payouts have almost certainly helped to drive hoarding but the cost of living crisis has now soaked up a lot of that liquidity.

Lack of music lessons in school, minimal funding for music (and the arts in general) in education (always the 1st to be cut when savings need to be made) and general undervaluing of music in society.
