Obtained a wonderful Yamaha BB3000 from Bren. Great communication, fantastic bass and a clean transaction. Thoroughly recommended!
  2. *SOLD* Up for sale here is my DeArmond Pilot 4 Bass. This is a supposedly 'budget' model of the legendary Guild Pilot bass (as used by bassists as musically varied in style as Jaco Pastorius, Gary Tallent, Darryl Jones, Benjamin Orr, Jerry Peek, Gary King & many more). However, nothing about it is 'budget'..... rather it is perfectly suited to any working bassist with a penchant for full, clear & punchy tones. Build quality and feel are excellent, with one of the nicest jazz-style necks I've played! Pickups are PJ in configuration with a 3 band EQ which really comes into its own when the mid control is utilised... Condition is almost mint.....and, it has had a full setup/clean recently too! Payment via bank transfer or Paypal (you play the fees). Courier would be £30. Please see my excellent extensive feedback for assurance of a clean & honest transaction.
  3. Here we have an early '90's natural wood Stuart Spector Design (SSD) Euro bass. This is one of the early Czech models which were constructed just like the classic US-made NS2 in that it has all-maple wings rather than the more recent Euros which have a laminate of walnut in them. Typical gold hardware and active EMG P/J pickups with what I believe to be an EMG BT circuit. I got this bass recently as part of a large trade and haven't used it, but I have given it a check over and it's electronically sound. It is in good general condition (has expected user wear) and appears to have had the addition of some dark wood embellishments (walnut?) on front and top corner and added wood control knobs (obviously to the previous owners 'woodmix' taste). It still has the black flatwound strings on it that it arrived with too. New, a Euro LX would set you back in the region of £1400 and a used model approx £900. This is an earlier, more NS2-accurate, model at a fraction of the price.... Bank transfer or Paypal(buyer pays fees). Courier £30 and includes soft case. Please see my extensive positive feedback for assurance of a trouble-free transaction.
  4.
I've heard on TB that Spector do not give their endorsing artists any basses for free. Any truth in this do you know?
This is true. With Spector, everyone has to buy their bass, though endorsed artists pay a reduced (pre-retail/tax) price. Warwick giving away basses for free was one of the reasons Rex took the bait and left....
  5. I have 2 of the 4-string versions and I LOVE them!
  6.
I did have a look in to the Ian hill model. Any of you played one?
I have one..... and a Wimbish one.... and a regular one. I love the Ian Hill model, VERY comfortable neck profile and sounds monstrous.....
  7.
cetera You got me jealous 2 Randy Jackson's !! I can't even find 1
Yep, they're pretty rare outside the US. Nice basses!
  8.
Indeed.. except for maybe one that sells Spectors? Incredible collection
Of course Cheers Rob
  9.
... Not short of options there... astonishing stuff
Lol! Yep, you can see why most guitar shops bore me now eh?

  11.
Tommy Shaw.
Good call!!
  12. Steve Perry, Peter Cetera, Karen Carpenter, Sam Cooke, Chris Rainbow...... all have that certain 'something' for me...
  13. Any other trade options?
  14.
The Hamer is still with me! I still search regularly for one of those Fernandes MV65s...I think you had two or three at one stage.
Yep, they're pretty rare. I have 3 of them at the moment and they're lush Always looking to add more to the collection - but if I ever let one go I'll let you know....
  15.
There's a Charvel version too. Gary has too many good basses.
Cheers mate! Just picked up a fab pointy headstock old Fernandes Thunderbird as well - not unlike your Hamer one!
  16.
Fair do's if you EVER wanna shift that mate !!
Cheers Not going anywhere for now though....
  17.
Me, Stuart and the new baby.
Great to see the main man there! Sadly I couldn't make it this year to catch up with Stuart again as I was off on tour in Sweden - but glad you got to hang with him. One helluva guy making amazing instruments
  18. That is lush. Got other expenses so out of my price range at the moment though
  19.
Don't Change Horses was on the album as I recall.
That wasn't the Doobs.... it was Tower Of Power....
  20. Fantastic band and one of my all-time fave bassists in Tiran Porter! The Tom Johnston-era Doobs is my fave too. I like the Mike McDonald era but it just doesn't rock like I want it to.... I've been lucky enough to become great friends with Tiran over the last 15 years and have visited him/stayed at his house/studio on a few occasions - a lovely man with a mega bass collection and a sackful of road stories! Re: similar bands - I always thought the track 'Let There Be Music' by Orleans was in a classic Doobie style: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEt9PPBGfJA and here it is 'live' back in 1976: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rb1fWpxMK0g
  21. I've got 2 mega-rare US Hamer Impact basses
  22. Mine's arrived..... and it sounds/works great! As usual with these things - 90% of the sounds will never get used but the other 10% sound excellent. I'm looking forward to getting some of the usable patches being created over at Talkbass to enhance its day to day capability....
  23.
Picked this up recently. It needs a bit of fettling but still feels very comfortable...
Very nice! congrats Always fancied a green Spector - if you ever fancy letting it go please give me first dibs
  24. Apparently mine is shipping this week
