I know it doesn't exactly address you flat frequency response issue..... but I'd say just try different cabs and see what YOU like for YOUR circumstances. I've tried 2x10's, 4x10's, 6x10's,1x15's, 2x15's, 1x12's, 2x12's and combinations of them..... and by various different well known manufacturers including BF. My PERSONAL faves have ended up being the old Mesa/Boogie Diesel 2x15 and the more recent (& more portable) GenzBenz Nx212T. Why? Because they have most accurately produced the sound I like to hear when combined with my basses, amps and pedals of choice. Ultimately, no amount of engineering/physics talk will change how YOU hear it.
2. Mark came and picked up my 'rig of doom' with his lovely lady Heidi. Great people, great communication. Highly recommended Enjoy!
3. Starting to appear on Thomann....... but not in stock yet. Prices have gone up £150+ on the V7 price when I got one.... 4. Spector customer service is the best.... bar none! If you need to email PJ at their NY headquarters he will get back to you asap and is super helpful. With a Spector you are also joining a group of loyal and passionate owners/players who will also help you wherever & whenever they can I have owned a ReBop4 (& hope to own one again). Great tight and focused sounding bass that will punch through any mix with ease...... My only criticism is the neck dive due to the small and light body. A good, gripping strap can tackle this to some extent though.... If that is too much of a risk then I can heartily recommend saving a little more and going for the stunning EuroLX range. Probably the best basses of their ilk (build/sound/comfort) at that price point! Hope that helps!
5. Welcome Ralf! You'll find plenty of likeminded and friendly people here Oh, and more than a few Spector users too
6. Hope you love it! It was a sound that I loved
7.
The official Spector Facebook page just posted a tribute, which I think is a nice touch.
Yep, Spector are a class act as usual....
8. I'm very sad to have to inform you that we've lost one of our own. Gary Slater (aka Grunge666), Spector bassist and Orange/Barefaced user... and bassist of W Mids rockers 'Iconic Eye' passed away unexpectedly last night. He leaves a loving family and lots of good friends... Sleep well my friend x
9. You're welcome mate - enjoy!!
10. Just sold my Carvin amp to Martin. Plenty of clear and regular communication and a straightforward transaction. Lovely bloke too Recommended!
11. Congrats! You can't go wrong with that cab...... it's sounded phenomenal with every amp I've ever put through mine!
12. Sean bought my Power Amp. Quick and clear communications throughout and and the deal was done with no fuss. Highly recommended! Thanks mate! Enjoy....
13. You need to try the Ian Hill or Doug Wimbish model then.....
14.
Looking at the fuse rating in the photo of the rear panel - is this 120Vac and therefore needs a step-down mains transformer?
Nope, it's a UK model for UK people
15. Provisionally withdrawn subject to payment.
16.
I went and had a play. I tried both a Rebop and a Euro LX (some kind of signature model, all white).
Ah yes, that's the Mike Starr (Alice In Chains) sig model.....
17. Firstly, seeing Gary Tibbs live onstage with his Wal bass with Adam & The Ants..... Followed by Gene Simmons with his Spectors (my love affair with Spector began here), Steve Harris with his P basses and then listening to Tiran Porter of The Doobie Brothers and Peter Cetera on the first 13 Chicago albums.....
18.
Gary will be along in a minute...
Don't panic Mr Mainwaring, I'm here!
I have owned and own several Spectors from almost every level: Korean, Euro and US. I have to say that one of the biggest pro for this brand is that their products are of very good value in every price segment they have products. I can recommend Spectors without any doubt in any level really. Assuming you are a 4 string player, a Euro 4 would be a really good backup for the SR, but not just like that. The PJ pickup config has a great variety of sounds, it nails the P tone quite well, with the J added it sounds really growly and fat. These basses are built exceptionally well with well thought out ergonomics
All the above - nail on the head. I would also say that a Euro is much more than a back up - it is a monster in its own right- and may well become your go to bass. It certainly is for me over any of the other basses/brands I own or have owned.
Before I dive in further, the main ergonomic thing I have to address is how offset the neck position is. I have a Jazz and I have a real problem with how far to the left the neck sits, due to the offset. I made a big and expensive mistake with the Jazz - having played several but only sitting down (as is normal in a shop). Hanging round my neck it's all wrong. In comparison the Stingray feels like a significantly shorter scale length, even though it isn't. It's really hard to judge, looking at Spector due to the 2 octave neck and the small body, but where the first fret falls is a big issue for me (not being a tall person). I may not be able to stump for an LX4 (assuming I can't offload the Jazz - no luck so far), but a Rebop might be more in budget.
The ReBop has an element of neck dive, which being of a slightly shorter stature you may find to be a problem. I'd recommend trying a Euro as a priority (to check neck position) and then looking out for a used one on here if they take your fancy....
19. Great head, that Landmark.... I've had the 300 and the 600 before...... cool tones! Good luck with the sale!
20. Spector Euros are hardly 'entry models'. They are 90% the same as the US models but half the price or less (still pricey) and fantastic instruments in their own right. Stuart Spector & PJ also take a real hands on/personal approach with their Euro offerings. Their Korean models could be considered more 'entry models' but again are extremely well made and excellent value for money....!
21. Cheers everyone! Yep, it's quite something....
Worth noting that the amp chassis is very deep for anyone thinking of mounting it in another SKB rotocase.
Indeed, hence me including a suitable rack case in the deal
22.
I have the DPC1000 and it's one hell of a power amp!,this is a bargain for someone,GLWTS.
Cheers Soulman!
