Schecter

I have a lovely Schecter Model T, with Seymour Duncans in it and it sounds immense, love it
  6.
Probably should have thought of this before, but if I back the volume pots down to around 6 then the signal cleans right up no matter the playing style or tone adjustment.
There you go.... the full 18v signal is just too hot for your old Trace head methinks...
  7. I used to encounter the same thing in Sound Control (RIP) on London's Oxford St.... you're not alone!
  8.
Is this beauty still here! BUMP
Not for long! Some serious interest occuring
  9. Not sure if this has been linked to before..... or whether it will come out anytime soon?
  10.
I see the Globe in Cardiff are advertising that you're playing there on Friday 26th August - is that a definite?
Yep, certainly is!
  11. From what I've read - the BOSS ME8B was a MAJOR part of his early tone....
  12.
Wow... 12pages and still going...... I do take offence though that it seems a lot of people on this thread think that Slap bass seems to be rubbish, not to be done, shouldn't be used as it's only for those who are of lesser musicality....
I'm not reading this thread in that way..... I'm seeing many people who acknowledge that, when played well, it has a valid place in certain musical situations....However, the endless, tuneless, 'clickety clack' heard at the Bass Day was annoying and in no way conducive to ascertaining the capabilities/tonal palette of any bass or amplifier....
  13.
I think there are two elements to this. Once you have the basic slap techniques down, it's easy to play very FAST. Unmusical instrument operators find FAST impressive and they enjoy doing it, and they think others do too. But it becomes a FAST competition, much like competitive athletics. Really musical people know other really musical people will find a single note played with extreme taste much more impressive, and that one note will say more about the player and his personality than thirty two in the same measure ever can. Unfortunately really musical people have always been in the minority.
Nice post Nige.... I take heart in the fact that there seem to be quite a few of the latter on this thread
  14.
Strangely enough, it sounds less distorted with the tone controls full up and worse wound back. The input gain's on 1 on the TE. Any more and it gets scary. Winding the EMG's down helped alot, but didn't clear the problem up. The neck pup's about 6 or 7mm off the strings.
E-mail [email protected] and explain the situation as above - he may have an answer and their customer service is second to none...

    The Feeling
Am I right in thinking that they started off as, dare I mention it here, a cover band?
Yep, playing the 'apres ski' in places like Meribel they built up a very tight set of covers, then branched into writing their own stuff....
  16. The tone controls on the Tonepump are mainly boost but there is cut as well. Basic gain +12dB Controls: Bass: +14dB/-4dB @55Hz Treble: +14dB/-12dB @6.5kHz Meaning that to run the Tonepump flat, you have to open the bass pot just shy of 1/4 of the way, and the treble just shy of 1/2 way. With the 18v power it runs very hot if you overboost the bass/treble into an amp that can't handle it. Try positioning the controls in the flat position described above and getting a tone you like on the TE head (minding the input gain), then cut & boost carefully on the Tonepump to find your sweet spot.
Got the message across, he'll text you. If he says some mad Scotsman was heckling him (in a nice way), it was me By the way, they were absolutely brilliant it's not every day you get to see a band like that doing a pub gig. It was my sister in laws 50th birthday as well which made it all the more special.
Lovely! What a top blokey he is
  18.
But your Gene Simmons your supposed to be a dirty old letch
Oi!! I resemble that remark!!

  20.
OK, I admit that was too much of a generalisation, but have you driven past Oceana and the Worx lately?
Not lately, but I'll try to get caught on the Kingston one-way system at the earliest opportunity!
  21.
You discover that the mums are far more interesting and fanciable than their daughters. Did I just say that?
I hit 40 this year.... and the daughters will ALWAYS be more interesting than their Mums...
  22.
His day job is as a Rotosound Rep isn't it??
Yes, maybe it's worth letting Rotosound know that their 'demonstrator/rep' is actually turning people off of not only their product, but music shows in general...?
  23.
Here's the Rotosound slapper extraordinaire, featured in an earlier BC thread http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...;hl=Clutterbuck The guy obviously has amazing technical ability but ....
IMHO most of that just sounded like random percussive clicks with an occasional unconnected note chucked in.... yuk....
  24. I bought a 'deep fill chicken sandwich', an Aero and a Liptons Iced Tea (Lemon) from the Tesco Metro over the road from the venue... The Aero was a bargain at only 75p!
  25.
Seems to me the people who hate slap are the ones who can't do it....much like the guy who couldn't get the chick so calls her names
Er.... no....
I feel a lot of slappers are like those chavs in their Saxos banging out D 'n B at high volumes, they think it's impressive and everybody wants to hear it but most people think they are dicks.
^This...
