1. You'd be amazed (or maybe not) at how many songwriters out there playing large festivals and venues, when asked if they are PRS members, answer "Er... I'm not sure... my Manager handles that sort of stuff..." What?!?! A writer's PRS income is one of the ONLY income streams that comes direct to you and is not subject to a Management cut! Songwriters need to take charge of this particular business side of their 'art' as it is an increasingly valuable source of income (what with record sales plummeting...). Leaving it to a manager... or getting people like Sentric to represent you (& take a commission) is lazy and stupid...
2.
PRS membership is not free - it was £25.00 when I joined about 30 years ago and I think it's about £100 now for life,
As I said before, it is free to join with the first £10 of your earnings taken for a one-off admin fee.
3.
I highly recommend registering with Sentric Music for all things industry-based. They offer great advice, the industry blog is insightful for any artist plus they do all the royalty collection for a small commission as opposed to registering with the agencies and paying the full fees. They're revolutionising the unsigned/indie music industry at the mo. Plus, if you register you get sent all the requests for syncs (basically advert music). Dan
Quite the opposite!! I highly recommend NOT signing with Sentric Music. They get people signed to them by praying on the laziness of writers/musicians in registering their works and keeping their performance info up to date. You basically end up paying Sentric for something you could do yourself.... What are these full fees you mention? PRS membership is FREE upfront and you will only ever pay £10 TOTAL (one-off) from your future royalties... Of course, if you can't be arsed and want to pay them for doing hardly anything instead of obtaining your monies for free then that's your shout...
4. That is looking gorgeous. PM me if you ever decide to move it on...
5.
I don't understand why this underpowered thing seems to follow SVT3PRO's around! I used mine with 2 Mesa Boogie cabs and it was loud enough to match some very, very noisy guitarists I play with. In 10 years it was never not loud enough. I was in the house band for a jam and used it run a Boogie 115 and Epifani 410 stack, that's a total of 1400 watts, and it never missed a beat. When I sold it the new owner paired it with an Ampeg 410 Classic and he made my ears ring when he tested it out. Turn the Master to 3 or 4 o'clock and use the Gain to get your volume. There's also a volume slider on the EQ if you need more.
I've used mine with a 600W 2x15 Mesa Diesel for the last 5+ years in a heavy rock band and I have NEVER had the volume more than halfway....and that's in venues of 1000 people!
6.
'Ere ladies, want to see my inflatable santa? He only comes once a year. S.P.
But he's got a bulging red sack and he fills all the girls stockings....
7. Really well-made bass which plays great too. I got one through my endorsement & when I've got around to upgrading the pickups to EMGS it'll sound awesome
8. Have a free bump for a lovely EuroLX
9.
Bumping for the last of this year's gigs! December 3rd Cardiff - 'The Globe' 4th Norwich - 'Brickmakers' Sadly, these will be the last gigs with our current drummer so should be quite a 'farewell' party !
Just to confirm... as far as we're concerned these gigs are, despite the weather, STILL ON!
10.
I used my Ampeg SVT3PRO with Mesa Boogie cabs for nearly 10 years. That rig was fat, full, punchy and as loud as you like.
Me too... still put mine through my old 'diesel' Mesa 2x15 or Mesa 1516BEV on occasion. VERY nice! Heavy cabs though...
11. You can't go wrong with a second hand Genz Benz Neox212T 2x12 cab. 600W @ 4 ohms - a perfect match for the SVTIIIPro (I have both) and very lightweight AND powerful!
12.
A bit of this and that. It's surprising what you collect over the years. I generally tend to hang on to things because you just never know.
No old girlfriends gathering dust in the corner behind the Bassman cab though are there?!?
13. I find myself drawn toward black or white basses as a rule... though I do like a nice dark purple, midnight blue or deep red... Orange, yellow and baby blue are no-no's... though I'm strangely drawn to forest greens Sunbursts are a bit 'vanilla' for me.... and 'natural' I find dull unless it's spalted, highly figured etc...
14. It's been listed four or five times over the last year by different 'sellers' but using the same pics. Scam/bogus auction I'm afraid... steer clear!
15. Bumping for the last of this year's gigs! December 3rd Cardiff - 'The Globe' 4th Norwich - 'Brickmakers' Sadly, these will be the last gigs with our current drummer so should be quite a 'farewell' party !
16.
That Washburn's a real catch Looks a bit like the Bantam model, which was designed by Grover Jackson and Kip Winger.
Yep, I'm guessing that's the origin of this design.... No real difference in this sig model other than the EMG's methinks...
17. A wonderful day spent in the company of many rather splendid chaps (& Sarah & Soph!) It was great to catch up with some old friends and to finally put faces to names and chat all things bass - while having a good laugh and learning lots... Thanks to all who organised the event and did the worshops etc. 'Stars' the lot of you.... Luckily I didn't come away with any major GAS, though Nige's amazing homebuild bass and Robocorpse's Ricky and EMG loaded Thunderbird were particularly nice... as were OBBM's Phil Jones combo and Charic's TC Electronics rig...! And finally, wonderful news about the money raised. A fitting tribute to Si (OldGit).... Here's to next year!
18. Won't be bringing my Wal now as there will be at least one other present. So, I'll be bringing my Spector Euro4LX & Peavey Rudy Sarzo and maybe an original Fender Jazz Bass Special &/or my own 70's Jazz build... I'll also have my Sansamp RBI/RPM rig and 1 or 2 GenzBenz Neox212T cabs. See you there!
19. Lol!! Thanks Chrs! My folks said what a 'pleasant young man' you were They were used to various 'rigs of doom' and multiple basses coming and going when I used to live at home, I think this was a nice reminder for them of days gone by! lol!
20. You were given one.... Martin at The Bass Gallery...
21. Welcome back Zoe! I've known you're still around due to our Facebook link... good to see you on here though!
22. Just bought back my old Mesa from Chris. Lovely chap who dropped it off for me at my folks house Thanks Chris!
23.
I hope you've warned all the relevant agencies?
But of course!
24. Tim's obviously not trying hard enough..... I've just bought a bass cab here this very morning!
