2.
My main gripe is about is how some "would be buyers" ask the most mundane questions without even doing any research of their own - a quick visit to the manufacturers website would yield all the answers to their questions and even answers to questions they hadn't even thought of...worse however are those who you know have no intention of buying but ask daft questions anyway - I answered their questions respectfully and informatively even though I knew they weren't going to part with any cash..
Sorry to hear this mate but it is, I fear, partly a result of the avalanche of information available around us. There's almost too much to deal with and people back away and can't be bothered to look for it. We often encounter a similar situation with our band where people ask the most mundane questions about our regular gigs - for which the answers are available from the venue websites, ticket agents etc etc... e.g. Q. What time are you on? A. Ask the venue Q. How much are tickets? A. See the venue/ticket agent website Q. When are you playing *insert venue*? A. See our gig listings on our website/Facebook or check the venue website and believe it or not... Q. "What bus goes from the local station to the venue and what time is the last bus back?" A. How the F**K do we know?!?!? and Q. "What time is the last train back to town?" A. See above!!! Basically, rather than spending time e-mailing us and waiting for a reply they could have looked up the info online and got the answers they required within seconds!!

 4.
So if a guy has the perfect bass (pre-CBS Precision), perfect strings (La Bella heavy flats), perfect amplification (loads of tubes), what's the best cab for the American 60s/70s tone we're talking here.....?
Studio or live? Studio - an old Ampeg B15 fliptop Live - an old SVT 810
 5. Definitely my favourite era of music, so much 'space' in the music and prominent, full bass tones aplenty.... My personal faves HAVE to be Peter Cetera (Gibson EB3L & Fender P) on the first 11 'Chicago' albums...... and Tiran Porter (Gibson EB3L, Fender P & Gibson Thunderbird) during the original Tommy Johnston-era 'Doobie Brothers' . Both played with taste, melody, rhythm and finesse..... and their bass parts were clearly audible! Also love Joe Puerta (Ambrosia), Leon Wilkeson (Skynyrd), Kenny Gradney (Little Feat), Dave Hope (Kansas) etc...
 6.
Well, there aren't any Journey fans on the Journey forum! Truckstop
True that... there's only 'the herd' as me and my mates call them.... you have to see them to understand
 7.
Massive Journey fan right here, Ross is my idol and I have a small obsession with Steve Perry! Are you seeing them in June?
Yes and yes Seen them with Steve Augeri, Jeff Scot Soto and Arnel Pineda.... great every time I'm too young to have seen them with Perry (to my mind the finest rock singer of the last 40 years)
 8. No idea on this rig but NICE CHOICE on the avatar!
 9. The best pickups to replace the EMG-HZ's with (IMHO) are active EMG35DC pickups. This is what you will find on the US Spector models....
 10.
What do we reckon, cetera, am I going to regret this?
It depends what you end up keeping....

 15. Mate, with these cabs: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=128890 humping gear isn't a problem! Lightweight and SUPER-powerful!
 16. I have that exact set-up! I put my RBI into one side of the DPX1400 and the RPM into the other side, each to their own 600W 2x12 cab! Sounds MONSTROUS!! Enjoy!

 23.
hey guys, been doing some thinking recently - do i really need my ampeg SVT CL and SVT HLF610? They're bloody heavy and i don't actually think i have room for them in my flat! I'm not gigging that often per say - maybe once a month if I'm lucky (and we're talking for 30/40 mins). Was thinking of getting a Sansamp RBI with some form of power amp perhaps with a lightweight/small 2 or 4x10. I play mainly dance/rock/daft stuff - Like really effects laiden and what not. I realize that the SVT is amazing sounding, I just feel i'm wasting it and killing my back/car at the sametime. Help?
RBI into a lightweight power amp with a Genz 2x12. Has and does work for me!
 24.
Ohhh which cab is that?
The very one I've just put up for sale! See here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=128890
