4.
Alternatively, is it just me? if we all used a little more consideration and didn't use terms that might cause offense that may have the same effect - didn't seem like a big ask to me.
I'd personally be a lot happier if people didn't use poor English like "a big ask".... Just sayin' like....
 5. Sorry to hear your keyboard player is leaving mate! All the best for finding a suitable replacement asap!

 7. I'm out of the running on this now as I refuse to pay twice the price it was originally pre-sold to me at.... However, if the seller would care to honour the (e-mail) contract that we made when I agreed to buy this item at it's original price a few weeks ago.... then consider it sold again ....
 8. I was at the Albert hall gig..... and a gig they did at ULU a year (?) earlier.... Got my ticket for Shepherds Bush this time! Great band!
 9. Cheers Nick! Yep, all good & busy here! I reckon between us we probably have the finest collection of basses in the country eh? Maybe it should be a museum though as there's very few I'm looking to move on....
 10. Wow! Paul has done amazing work there.....!

 14. I've been asked to sell this for a friend as he is a guitarist (non forum member). He has used this in his band but is cutting back & finds it surplus to requirements. I myself have the exact same amp and it's great - a real value for money product! 2 x 1,200 Watts into 2 Ohms; 2,400 Watts into 4 Ohms bridged operation 2-channel, parallel or bridged mono operating modes for flexible application Independent limiters for each channel offer dependable protection against distortion Precise signal and clip LED indicators to monitor performance Selectable low-frequency filters (30 Hz or 50 Hz) remove distracting infra-sound frequencies Professional connectors, compatible with Neutrik Speakon connectors, and “touch-proof” binding post loudspeaker outputs enable secure operation Balanced XLR and 1/4" TRS inputs Connection option for extra amps in parallel operation Ultra-reliable Toshiba/Fairchild high-power transistors High-current toroidal transformer for absolute reliability and lowest noise emission “Back-to-front” ventilation system including air filter with automatically adjusting fan speed for smooth operation Independent DC and thermal overload protection on each channel automatically protects amplifier and speakers High-quality components and exceptionally rugged construction ensure long life Conceived and designed by BEHRINGER Germany More info here: Behringer Europower EP2500 I'll try and get him to take a pic or two for me to upload..... but it's in excellent working condition with just a few scratches from racking up. Best new price is £250 online. His asking price £150 cash/cheque with pick up from Surrey or maybe Central London.
 15. Depending on how the pickups sound I may upgrade to EMGs and think about changing the scratchplate..... maybe to a blue mirror. Anyone have any other scratchplate suggestions?
 16.
Admit it, you only bought this for when someone starts up a BC thread 'Show us your blue basses'! I have never seen a blue fretboard before, very unusual
Lol! Sorry mate, already had a blue Spector for that "Show us your blue fretboards" - now THAT I could contribute to for the first time!

 19. Looks lovely! Please can you give us all a thorough review (build quality, components, sound, value for money etc)? I've been looking at these but wondered if they might be a bit nasty and need a lot of upgrades....
 20. Lovely rig.... particularly the Spector
 21.
The EQ on your GP12 is scaring the sh*t out of me!
It looks like the setting Steve Harris of Iron Maiden used on his TE.....

 24.
Those two aren't arbiters of tone, IMV anyway, but..
I didn't say they were.... I simply pointed out that the individual tone each of them is known for is generally very popular and often pursued.... they were simply 'examples'....re-read my post.
If you spend your £700 in a shop, you'll be getting a bass that cost...what..? half that to make..and you'll skimp on a few components, maybe average tuners or pups..
There are plenty of basses in the £700-£1000 range that are SUPERBLY made with no skimping on comoponents, tuners, hardware, woods, build quality etc... I'm not knocking boutique luthiers - simply pointing out that after a certain price point you aren't necessarily getting that much better an instrument, indeed you are often paying for the name/supposed associated prestige.....
 25.
I own a few basses that would cost me that to commission and I can categorically say they are better basses ( way way better ) than anything you can buy for £700 in the high st.
Better in what way though?!? Feel is a personal thing, build quality after a certain point is moot.... tone is a combination of the playing style and good quality equipment. To use a couple of quick examples of very popular modern rock bass tones.... Duff McKagan (GnR/Velvert Revolver) - simple Jap Fender into GK Billy Gould (Faith No More) - Aria into Peavey Classic rock, soul & funk tones from the 70's were very often standard Fenders/Ricks into Ampegs etc All the above are quality gear but none are 'boutique' or ridiculously expensive. After a certain point, great tone has been achieved (and usually just from the fingers/pick of the player!).... There are very few boutique bass/amp makers that have made that sort of tonal impact.... except maybe Wal & a couple of others.... Honestly, when was the last time you saw a well known player (known for his amazing tone) playing something like a (e.g.) Ritter through a (e.g.) Glockenklang rig?!?
