Kenny Gradney is great.... with the aforementioned Joe Puerta & Tiran Porter, Peter Cetera, Dee Murray etc he's one of my faves!

Thanks chaps! I often look at my collection and I am humbled by just how many great basses I own. It hasn't been cheap/easy but I get great pleasure out of owning & playing them

[size=3][u][b]AMBROSIA[/b][/u][/size] I've always loved this band ever since I was introduced to their music by Tiran Porter (original bassist of 'The Doobie Brothers'). They never really made an impact over here... but they were/are stunning musicians/singers/lyricists/songwriters and for me they are right up there with Rush, Kansas etc for their 70's output. Here's some recent film of their old tunes performed exclusiverly for the Drum Channel. The bassist is one of my all time favourite players, Joe Puerta (who also plays with Bruce Horsby).... and he has a beautiful feel/touch in his playing which I would be thrilled if I ever came close to... Yep, Kip is a HUGELY underrated talent.... a professional NY Ballet dancer, a classically trained musician who plays great bass & keys & writes amazing classical pieces in addition to his rock stuff.... and he's one helluva singer!

Cheers chaps! Yep, the Wal's are really great - I LOVE them...... but I [i]may[/i] have to sell the Wenge one as I may need a large amount of money quite quickly in the near future.... If anyone's interested please PM me with realistic offers over £2k... Silverfoxnik - yep, there's just [i]something[/i] about a 'white' Spector.... oozes class methinks... Dubs - Agreed, more companies should make purple basses... particularly in a nice rich, deep purple colour... Purpleblob/Gary Mac - you can NEVER have too many basses! As you can see! lol! Tayste - the Schecter blew me away when I purchased it.... the tone is pure in-your-face hi-mid grind (perfect for rock) but it is capable of being tamed very easily... a bit of a revelation really! Geilerbass - yep, the Axe/Punisher don't get played live with the KISS tribute.... I wouldn't want to scratch/stain them - especially as the Punisher is #007 (#'s 001-006 are owned/played by Gene himself) and the Axe is one of the original ones (not the new Cort reissues - one of which I now have as well - and am getting EMG'd up!)

Many years ago at The Standard in Walthamstow I was doing my 'blood spitting' bass solo with the KISS tribute band. The lights were low (just a white spotlight on my face to pick out the blood trickling from my mouth).... unfortunately I prowled too near the front of the stage, was blinded by the light, my stack heel boot lost it's footing on the edge of the stage and I fell forward into the crowd with a clang on overdriven low 'E'!!! lol! Luckily for me the fans at the front caught me & pushed me back onstage (without me spilling a drop of blood from my mouth!) where I continued the solo while blushing through my white make-up! Afterwards a friend (who had been standing near the back) asked "What happened in your bass solo? You seemed to disappear from view for a few seconds with a funny bass noise and then you reappeared again!"
