2.
My tip - buy a Sansamp BDDI
Agreed, buy anything powerful (SVT3, GK etc) with plenty of head room... then put a BDDI in front of it. Or.... check out a second hand Tech 21 Landmark 300 or 600 Head....
3. I would have loved to go see them but unable to make it.... GREAT band... saw them many times around the Gretchen period...
4. A friend of mine at work has the following for sale: A lefty 'Shergold Marathon Stereo' Bass in black with maple neck/board. Apparently, he bought it off of a mate of his in 1982 and believes it was previously bought new in 1979/80. Condition is good 'used' with light player wear and the normal finish checking found on Shergolds. Bass comes with a soft gig bag. He's looking for £250 (collection from London)
5. Cheers chaps.... I'll advise him accordingly

7. A friend of mine has a black Shergold Marathon Stereo bass in very good player condition. It has a maple board and twin outputs and is a lefty... Does anyone know a ballpark value/figure as he may be interested in selling if it's worth it... Cheers!
Who buys these signature guitars anyway?
Many thousands of people.... look at the popularity of the Marcus Miller, Geddy Lee, Bob Glaub, etc etc.... Even Nick Seymour of Crowded House plays a Geddy.... A good guitar/bass is a good instrument regardless of whether there's a signature on it. My Geddy and Jackson 'Kip Winger' basses are excellent quality, very playable and cool sounding basses that do what I want them to....

12. Seems there's a lot of new product at Genz Benz! Genz Benz New Product Of particular interest: Genz Benz Shuttle Max 12.0 Head Shuttle Max 12.0 Also, there's a Shuttle Max 6.0: Shuttle Max 6.0 Mmmmmm.... liking that Shuttle Max 12.0!
13. Fancy one of these but the price has always been over the top. Hmmmm....this model is different from the last sig model he had a few years back..... that one had a basswood body... I wonder what his 'actual' bass is? Alder I presume...
14. Beautiful! I fancy one of these in sunburst.... How does it compare to a Geddy or Jap 75RI?
15.
Had a great time at the jam and on leaving discovered there was another door round the back - leading to the strip club part of the place!
Had a great moment there recently. Was watching a band and went up to get a pint in the 'quiet room/pool room'. The door behind the bar (through to the back room) then opened as some staff went through and lo and behold I had a front on view straight through to a 'spreading' stripper.... I needed a drink after that!
16. Spector prices have jumped too....
17. Can't believe this is still here..... If I played 5-string I'd be all over it. This is one of the BEST basses anywhere on here.....
18. Well if you do.... be careful... The 24 fret neck stands right out from the body and neck dive/strings flattening out could be a major problem....
19.
I've read through the thread on TB and don't totally go with it. I'm sure some guys don't 'read the tin' and appreciate that the tone controls are boost only and then think about the significance of this.
HUGE +1 It's amazing how the 'all on 10' brigade don't understand the less is more concept. Start with tone controls 'off' (in this case EQ is flat... then just add to suit taste
20. There's no one good place for pics of this bass. Just do a pic search etc for KISS shots live between 1973-75. What's the story? Are you getting a copy made?
21.
I've been thinking of changing the preamp in my Spector LX5 after reading the "Tone Dump" thread on Talkbass. I just find the Tone Pump a bit raw and too hot for some songs. Yesterday, I tried a Warwick Streamer 6 in PMT in Manchester and it sounded sweeter and a lot more 'musical' to my ears so I've now made my mind up to go ahead and change the preamp. Trouble is, it's difficult to make your mind up which one to go for. I'm thinking of buying either the EMG BQC System or the ACG 02 but to be honest, I'm not that convinced about either for various reasons. Anyone got any comments / advice for me before I take the plunge? PS - I take back whatever I said about Warwicks - I'd be very happy with that Streamer 6 I tried.
I'm here.... no need for a PM Before doing anything.... e-mail [email protected] and ask him about the new option of a dip switch/power reducer for the TonePump. I believe this is a new development for those who find it too hot... Otherwise, I also enjoy the tones I get from my Aguilar OBP-3 and EMG BT systems... I think you may like the OBP-3
