6. Or, as in my case..... I played a Wal at the Bass Centre in the mid/late 80's & couldn't afford one as I was a student. Many years later & having invested in my equipment & bought and sold to get better gear I found myself in a position where I could buy two (fretted & fretless) of the very bass I'd wanted for all those years. I don't have more money than sense. I worked hard and saved/traded to a point where I could get them. I know you want a Wal.... and one day you may have one..... but in the meantime don't slate those that do or choose to buy one for a price out of your current budget.
7.
for someone to BUY one for £2700, they either have serious idle wannabe disease, or they have far too much money, which they must have got from selling their common sense...
Re-read your own statement. Who are you to say any of that? I stand by my original reply.
8. Yep, Neil Jason is a US session great. He featured on loads of tracks in the mid 70's - mid 80's & I believe I even have him on Gene Simmons 1977 KISS solo album.....
9. WAY overpriced..... especially considering what it last sold for...
10.
ye but thats sentimental, not because the bass is actually worth that much in cash to you for someone to BUY one for £2700, they either have serious idle wannabe disease, or they have far too much money, which they must have got from selling their common sense...
It's actually worth much more than that in cash to me. Thanks for your well thought out opinion on the matter....
11. PJ Rubal & Stuart Spector have looked after me at all stages of my career, even before I had an endorsement with Spector.... They handled special orders, answered questions, provided spares etc for me for many years & have always been incredibly helpful! A1 service all round!
12.
i can't see how it can be justified to pay over 2k for one really, doesnt a g&l bass get a similar tone?? cant remember the model
Er.... NOTHING sounds like a Wal.....! The price is all relative. I'm not sure I'd let mine go for £2700 either....
13. Bumping the bridge (still sealed) and tuners, each with FREE p&p!
14. I'm kind of a 'reverse-snob'.... I turn my nose up when I see people playing 6,7,8 etc string basses..... there's no need! Or maybe I'm just a little jealous? Nah!
15. Graham was a tasty bassist... such lovely, well constructed lines.
16.
I have used my 1x15 EV Diesel exclusively (on its own) for the last 9 months or so. It is by far the most "complete" sound I have ever heard when using a single cab. Not particularly heavy too, unlike its 2x10 brother! Steve
Thank you Steve..... yep, this is a serious bit of equipment isn't it?! These EV loaded cabs really are in a completely different league to the later celestion/generic speaker loaded Mesa cabs.... Mike Brooks popped around for a jam the other day & he also commented on the range of tones this cab can reproduce...!

18.
Having recently bought a Mesa cab off Mr Cetera, I can confirm that he's a top bloke to deal with, and these cabs really are the absolute business.
Thanks Shaggy! I appreciate it. Yep, there's just something about these older EV loaded cabs....
19. Wow! That is the bargain of the year! Please someone pounce on this!
20. Sadly, I've decided to move on this great cab as it's really not getting used outside my music room and it deserves to be played LOUD & PROUD! This cab should need little introduction.... but I will anyway! What we have here is a classic Mesa/Boogie Diesel 1x15 Cab with bass port & casters. It is 400W at 8ohms and is loaded with the fantastic & highly desirable 15" EV speaker. The tone of this really is quite something.... it has all the thunderous low end you would expect of a 1x15 but being the legendary 'EV' it gives a focussed, tight projection more commonly expected of 10's or 12's! This would make a perfect compliment to another 8ohm cab (2x10, 1x15 etc) but is also superb in its own right as a stand alone cab. I've also heard it in use with a double bass and the sound was a revelation. It's pretty well used and has some scuffs but they are only surface. The edges are reinforced/rubber covered and the cab itself is in perfect working order. I'll try & get a better picture up shortly.... but here's one for starters.....
21. Bump for a superb amp! (I have it's 600W big brother!)
