1. I think it's more to do with 'instrument placement' in the sound specturm. If your bass is cutting through nicely with a slight mid boost so as not to clash with the guitar/keyboard and you each occupy a slightly different part of the EQ field with tight drums and a clear vocal it matters not if you are playing a Squier or a Spector into a Carlsboro or an EA.

The audience will hear the quality of the overall sound, allowing them to pick out individual instruments.

However, I agree that if your gear is good quality then it will be more reliable and provide you more opportunity to meet the above requirement.

  2. I've got a lovely '76..... beautifully ergonomically designed like my Spectors..... very shapely with a full, tight bottom and just enough top end to attract your attention without dominating the mix. VERY easy on the eye & a pleasure to play.....

(It's a very good example of a non-export CIJ - I love the TV era script and the pups aint bad either.)
Still wanting that one off of you.... grrrr...... :)

  4. I don't see a problem with pointing out that someone has priced their item too highly in the market as it currently stands. The seller may not realise.... and may wonder why it is not selling.

In this particular case the seller is in Italy and could be unaware of the current 'going-rate' in the UK.

  5. Hard to believe I know.... but I'm selling one of my Spectors. :)

Never fear though.... there is only ONE reason for this madness..... yep, I have a 'custom order' Spector on the way!

Hence I've decided to thin the herd....

So....Here we have a very limited edition Czech-made bolt-on Spector NS2J-CR with 2 EMG jazz p'u's and EMG active circuit.

Spector made VERY few of this model out of their Czech factory (preferring to keep them custom US only) and it is therefore a rare beauty.....! This model is basically a reissue of their early 80's NS2J model which is now highly collectable in its own right....

Body is high grade maple.... and neck is maple with a rosewood (pau ferro?) board.

Very light in weight.... and tones from smooth to all out punchy growl. Very funky sounds from the J pickups, particularly with the bridge p/u solo'd. This bass is in excellent condition and comes with a soft gigbag.

    **SOLD**

Ah, I know it well.... I'm in Hampton Wick...

    Welcome to the board Dave!

  7.
LOL better than Amy Winehouse's garden
    Welcome TheBigBeefChief :)
As long as it's not Amy Winehouse's 'lady garden'..... if it's anything like her beehive it'd be a real mess!
