1.
Hi Cetera, I'm pretty sure we met at the Wal Bash in Jan 2006 if I'm not mistaken when you brought your Wal & a lovely USA Spector along?? Great sounding basses as I recall..
That's right.... twas I...! :)
I've picked up my fretless Wal Mk1 since then.... when's the next bash?

2. If you keep the amp eq flat and do the rest with the eq on the bass it works fine.... and sounds incredible! :)
It is a reasonably common complaint though...

You could always get one and swap out the Tonepump for the standard EMG circuit or EMG BTC controls...?

3. Cheers Ped!

Yes, it really is a VERY transparent sounding cab. No matter what head you put through it.... it seems to compliment them all! I've heard it with heads by Mesa, Tech 21, Ampeg, SWR, GJ and Trace.... and they ALL sound great. Bold, full & rich whether going for a cutting hi-fi tone or old school flatwound thump.

It is reasonably heavy.... but easily transportable thanks to the wheels and side-handles. The original EV loaded cabs like this are VERY desirable as the EV's p*ss on the more recent celestion etc replacements....

I'm VERY surprised noone has snapped this up yet for this price! Must be the time of year, financial restraints etc....

4. Been looking around for a good 70's style reissue P-bass in white & have narrowed it down to the following:

PB70-78US
Crafted in Japan
Alder
Maple w/rosewood board
Vintage US pickups
Spiral vintage bridge
Olympic White
Approx £430 inc all taxes etc from Ishibashi

or

Highway One Precision (upgrade) 70's logo etc
US made
Alder
Maple w/rosewood board
Vintage US pickups
'Greasebucket' tone circuit (rolls off highs without adding bass)
Badass II bridge
Last one of limited run of 100 in Transparent White
Approx £625 in all taxes etc from US dealer

Any thoughts on which would be better, is better value, will hold/gain value etc.....?

Thanks!

6.
I recently watched some Bass solo vid's on Youtube and I was suprised by how much they did NOT interest me.I feel like a traitor to bass players everywhere.I found I did'nt get off on extra fast shredding,or two hand taps.Slap by Wooten, sorry, not for me.I'm more impressed by a good groove or run in a song.I know that I will get some flak for this but I feel its time to come clean;to me bass is supportive.
Amen to all of that. Couldn't agree more.....

7.
I was in the bass cellar (Denmark St.) the other day and they have a white/black 70s CIJ for £799 :)

That's more than i paid new for my USA model
Yep, they sure know how to price competitively eh? You can save £360 on that by buying direct from Ishibashi...!
