(in fact, they don't appear to distribute much of note at all these days IMO).
Apart from REMO, Spector etc.... :)

Best bet is to get along to one of the new six Reverb stores, try out a Spector ReBop and take advantage of their special introductory 20% off!

Spector ReBops have a great and well deserved reputation for being lightweight, well made, powerful and punchy! You may find a little neckdive, but nothing that can't be countered with a decent strap....

  2. This is a weird one.....

I'm in Europe's #1 KISS tribute band.... and for authenticity reasons I'm interested in changing the colour of my EMG humbucker pickup on one of my 'Kiss tribute' basses from black to silver.

Could I just colour the casing with a silver pen? Or spray it with silver paint?

Would this affect the pickup? Would any metallic element in the pen/paint cause magnetic problems?

    Cheers for any help.... :)

Good move.... it's worth spending a little more on the good stuff. Welcome to the world of 'sh*tty Behringers'.... :)

    P
Feedback section..... or porn section....? If porn, It might be an idea.....!  :)

  5. Thanks mate!! I actually already have a feedback thread here if you want to continue it....

    Cetera feedback.....

Don't worry, the bass porn section will shortly buckle under the weight of my collection.... lol!! :)

  6. I can definitely recommend the Genz Benz Neox212T..... a GREAT 2x12 cab, 600w @ 4ohms, tweeter and ports, lightweight, handles and wheels...... full range sound with no shortage of low end, punchy mids or sparkling highs! :)

By default I would therefore also recommend the Neox112T (the 1x12 version)

  7.
What is this then? Is it like the Aphex Bass exciter?
Yep, that sort of idea. BBE were the originators of this sort of thing.... :)

All your notes sound tighter, fuller and more dynamic and you can vary the amount of bite and/or low end....

Every time I turn my one off the sound just loses an element of it's 'excitement'!

  8. These units are WONDERFUL! Once used you'll wonder how you ever survived without it!!!

It seems to bring your bass alive, rejuvenate dead strings and more......! It puts back the punch and clarity in your sound that leads etc suck out....

I bought this as a spare because I love mine so much....... but actually it's just sat around gathering dust and should be out there being enjoyed by someone! Spec is available on the website but it is pretty much idiot proof. A&B in and out and 2 dials on the front to boost lows/highs with a 'process on/off' pushbutton switch. This unit is NOT just for bass guitar..... it sounds superb on guitars, as part of an overall PA system and even used with your home Hi-Fi! There are loads of reviews out there just Google or visit Harmony Central.

  9. As I've had a few new basses come in recently I've decided it's time to move one on to pay some of it off....

So, as I have two of these, I have decided to let one go.....

Back in 1987 Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue asked Stuart Spector to build him a few reverse and non-reverse Thunderbird shaped custom bass. He went on to use them on the Girls, Girls, Girls & Dr Feelgood tours into the early 90's...

Gibson sent a cease & desist order which prevented more than a couple of extra Spector 'Nikki Sixx' basses getting out into the public arena for purchase. However, Fernandes in Japan, who were making excellent basses in this period, decided to make a limited run of their own copy of the 'Spector Nikki Sixx' for the Japanese domestic market. This didn't last long as they were then in turn sent a cease & desist by Spector!

What we have here is one of those very limited Fernandes 'Nikki Sixx' Spectorbird basses.....!

This bass is black, with a 32" scale thru neck, solid gold-coloured bridge and active Fernandes P/J pickups. The gold-coloured machineheads appear to be Gotoh-alikes and the controls are simplicity itself..... there's just one.... and it's a volume control for both pickups together! The instrument input is front mounted (like a Strat) and the neck has the legendary Spector 'crown' inlays.

The bass plays nicely and has a clear, punchy tone particularly suited to 'rock' music. It balances very well on a strap and is a real eyecatcher!!!

Condition is generally very good but, being a 15 year old bass, there are a few scratches and a few dings - particularly on the body edge. The finish on the bridge and machineheads has also suffered from the usual oxidisation seen in an instrument of this age.
