  1. I love me some pointy headstock/garish coloured rock basses.... and they're getting harder to find. Every so often something cool will pop up though... and here are two such beauties that I recently purchased at ridiculously cheap prices (i.e. both for less than the usual price of one!): A thru neck 1986 Charvel Model 3B, with upgraded Seymour Duncan PJ pickups and a detuner: and a 2021 ESP Ltd 'Surveyor '87' in rainbow crackle finish, again with Seymour Duncan PJ pickups:
  2. In no particular order, the following. All have beautiful and thoughtful lyrics.... and the track by the wonderful 'Lake' has some lovely bass playing throughout by Martin Tiefensee....
  3. Same as always. School in Addlestone.
  4. Yes, just firming up a date. Hopefully will be announced very shortly!
  5. Well that sounds like a store you'd pop into once.... think it looks nice then exclaim "I'm not paying THAT much!" and leave, never to return... The article also references Fender opening a flagship store in Tokyo. I guess they don't need one here as most guitar stores have boring walls full of their gear anyway...
  6. Long Train Running was sung by Tom Johnston in 1973, not Michael McDonald - who didn't join the Doobies until 1976.
  7. Sadly I'm a lot less tempted to buy from a European seller as a result of Brexsh*t. Whereas I may have taken a chance on a bass before, I now have to REALLY want it and the price has to be HUGELY competitive in order for me to even think about it...
  8. Looks OK to me. Does the job but nothing flashy. It's a shop website so as long as it's up to date stock wise then job done. Those who don't like Bass Direct will probably dislike it as a natural response regardless....
  9. Nice!! I LOVE Young Gun Silver Fox! Had no idea they'd done this.... As an aside, their live bassist Dave is now the new Pretenders bassist..... 😎
  10. I'm still loving mine! Only thing I will do is move the strap buttons for a better balance on the strap. I notice that Nikki had his rear button nearer the top rear corner so I may try that first...
  11. I love classic mid 70's - early 80's Rush, particularly A Farewell To Kings album and the live 'Exit Stage Left'. The music, arrangements and production had so much space in them. The later 80's stuff left me cold, too clinical and sterile with too much keys... Seen them 4 times live and they were always superb. I love watching & listening to Geddy, he's an amazing player but I have no desire to play like him. Same can be said of Jaco, Mark King and many others who I can appreciate but don't appeal to me stylistically...
  12. During one of our 'Classic Rock Anthems & Power Ballads' shows a couple of months ago we had a chavvy lady (who'd obviously bought a ticket knowing, you would have thought, what we do!) approach us with a request. We don't do requests - it's a theatre show. We do Boston, Journey, Foreigner, Toto, Aerosmith, Heart, KISS etc.... She asked us for........ yep, you've guessed it..... Wonderwall......
  13. Recently fancied getting one of these myself.... have to keep my eyes open... Congrats!
  14. Of course. The Trimpot on the Tonepump should always be down around 40-50%
  15. Depends on the bass. On my Spectors I pretty much max out the onboard EQ.... gives me the bite, growl and punch I love.
  16. All the makes I've ever owned basses by, in no particular order.... SPECTOR WAL MV PEDULLA FENDER SQUIER JACKSON HAMER KRAMER ESP PEAVEY ROCKINBETTER TOKAI FERNANDES MUSICMAN YAMAHA ARIA GUILD BASS COLLECTION ITALIA EPIPHONE MELODY HOHNER FELINE CORT STACCATO LOBUE (COPY) DE ARMOND IBANEZ KAY CHARVEL NIGHTINGALE HARTKE WASHBURN MIGHTY MITE SCHECTER DINGWALL G&L ARCHER HAGSTROM BASS CENTRE HARLEY BENTON SIRE
  17. I've read this whole thread and........ Nope, I have NO idea what it's about or what's going on.... Where am I?!?!
  18. Hollywood Vampires with The Tubes supporting at O2 Arena. The Tubes were great, but somehow most of the crowd didn't seem to 'get' them. Fee Waybill still half stripped off during their short set and was an engaging frontman but the funniest bit was the bassist. When they came on he was wandering around the stage looking for something and asking each of the other band members if they'd seen it.... then, as they kicked in on the opening number, he wandered off into the wings.... only to appear half way through their opening number with his bass that he'd obviously left in the dressing room miles from the stage!🤣 The Hollywood Vampires feat. Alice Cooper, Joe Perry and Johnny Depp were excellent. What I expected to be more like a jam band were in fact a well oiled rock band! Half originals and half covers of The Who, Bowie, Doors, AC/DC, Jeff Beck etc..... and even featured a surprise guest appearance from Ronnie Wood! I had an after show pass too so got to meet and chat with their 3rd guitarist Tommy Henriksen and bassist Chris Wyse (of The Cult/Ace Frehley Band etc). Cracking night out!
  19. No idea what make of bass I've been (and will be) associated with 🙄🤣😂
  20. Awesome final KISS show for me last night at the London O2 Arena. A band who, love them or hate them, set the bar for live production and performance.... and continue to do so. A HUGE show from a band who have never given less than 100% to thousands of smiling, singing people.... and surely that's all anyone can ask for. 💜 I've made so many amazing friends over the last 40 years of following them. The KISS Army really is a family.... so, as the giant pyro and confetti storm rained down at the end of Rock n Roll All Nite, I couldn't help but feel emotional and thankful. Pure class 👍😎
  21. I don't want all the pickup routing as would be using different positions....
  22. Feeling like a fool? Loving them both is breaking all the rules.... I'll get me coat...
