I'm a lot deeper and more interesting than I'm given credit for.... I'm not just a balding old rocker you know! 🤣

Dawn Patrol - Bring On The Good Times album (2022) - Modern Yacht Rock. Groovy, feel-good music with hints of Steely Dan, Michael McDonald, Toto, Hall & Oates etc
-
IMHO, the essential ingredient missing from much of mainstream modern pop music is 'Songs'. Instead, much of it is overly compressed and over sung (or autotuned) and generally soulless. I've always been a huge 'Rock' fan but even I'm struggling these days to find a rock band I can get really 'excited' about. But then that hasn't happened since probably 1991. Instead, I've verged towards the great songwriting, harmonies, musicianship and feel good music that is termed as 'modern yacht' (kinda Steely Dan meets Michael McDonald meets Hall & Oates meets Toto etc). Soul, groove, big choruses, jazzy guitar solos & fantastic vocals abound in new exponents such as Young Gun Silver Fox, State Cows, Ole Borud, Miles and Dawn Patrol... and they can ALL play their material live to a high level.

In my formative years I was heavily into my rock and metal.... and widdling guitarists. Now, although I still enjoy some of those acts and guitarists, my tastes have not so much changed as 'widened'. I'm still mainly into classic rock music (late 70's/early 80's pomp rock, mid 70's boogie/southern rock and classic US midwestern and melodic/AOR) but I now listen to lots of Steely Dan, John Miles, early Chicago, Kayak etc and most recently have been purchasing a lot of original (Sneaker/David Roberts etc) and new 'Yacht Rock' (Young Gun Silver Fox/Dawn Patrol/State Cows), Power Pop and original soul/RnB/Motown/Disco etc I still can't abide rap/hip-hop/modern r'n'b/grime etc and don't see that changing anytime soon.

I have this LPB Squier 40th too..... got it in the Thomann Black Friday sale! Excellent bass - can't find any issues with it at all. Looks fabulous, plays great and sounds decent, if a little bright.... but then that's what the tone knob is for
-
I had no issues with mine. Though I have swapped out the Aguilars for EMGs and BTS circuit as I'm not a fan of Barts or Aguilars in Spectors...

This fantastic new 'Yacht Rock' act..... hints of classic late 70's West Coast Doobies, RnB & soul with smooth NY Steely Dan style jazz grooves. Love it!
