  1. Congrats! Love the double J pickups on these.... !
  2. If I'd bought a ticket for Reading/Leeds and got presented with this year's terrible line up I may just have rioted too.... No artists there with strong enough material to be remembered in 6 months time let alone in 20 years....
  3. A host of great bands at the Wokingham Festival yesterday. A great new young band called In Albion stood out, as did The Room but the stars of the show were the legendary Focus who were playing as part of their 50th Anniversary tour! Apart from hearing all those fabulous songs live, the highlight was seeing how passionate Thijs Van Leer still is about music and how much he enjoys it. He was grinning throughout and his infectious enthusiasm for his music, performing live and connecting with the fans was a pleasure to behold... Beyond epic! VID-20220829-WA0002.mp4
  4. It's a standard thing to do with older GK's and many other older amps. Helps prevent oxidisation issues which can create intermittent sound issues.
  5. It sounded great but I felt like I just needed a bit more low mid oomph/heft and wanted to pull it into line with some of my other Spectors so I upgraded it to full TP. I love the bass. The roasted maple satin neck is VERY playable and the bass feels and sounds great. Decent price point on these too....
  6. I'd check out the new Pulse II. Fantastic value for money, especially if you upgrade the TP Jr to a full TP or EMG BTS. Next one up from that (without heading into the fantastic Euro territory) is the Ethos which is also excellent.
  7. The ABBA Voyage show on Sunday! Woo hoo!!!
  8. With regret, I'm selling my original late 80's?/early 90's? Gallien-Krueger 400RB in order to raise some much needed funds for another special bass related purchase. This is a rare UK 220/240V version and is in generally excellent condition for 30 year old head, complete with the original carry handle on the side. The amp has been recently serviced and is all original (apart from replacement conrol knobs). Plug your bass in and it sounds HUGE! Bold, punchy and capable of a huge range of tones from the 4 band EQ and lo-cut, mid-contour and hi-boost buttons. Turn up the boost control and it even verges into valve-like harmonic overtone heaven! Coupled with an efficient 4ohm cab this little monster isn't far behind its larger, legendary 800RB sibling...having the the same killer tones on tap and no lack of power! Don't let the lower power wattage fool you... I've never found this amp wanting, even with a 7 piece band....! 😉😎 @Snook tried it out recently when he purchased the bigger 800RB from me and can atest to the power, sound & condition! i'm asking £SOLD, no offers, as this is a recently serviced, mega rare classic and worth every penny. Payment by Cash on collecfion, Bank Transfer or Paypal (YOU pay all fees). Please see my extensive feedback thread for assurance of a clean, honest transaction.
  9. Sold 2 (!!) GK 800RBs to Nick. Great guy, clear comms and clean payment. Recommended!
  10. Nope. I've cut right back on buying that sort of stuff....
  11. I'm likely to be playing some shows soon where I would like to use my Tech21 VTDI preamp pedal straight to PA and my IEM's (or to desk and back to IEMs) but I want to use my chorus pedal in the signal path. Excuse my ignorance and it's probably really obvious but what's the best way to do this? Is it: Wireless receiver -> Chorus -> VTDI -> Desk/PA Or is there any benefit/any way of putting the chorus after the VTDI but still getting the effect outfront/in my IEMs when required? Cheers!
  12. I had one that looked identical! Fantastic bass..... Enjoy
  13. At least the Gene Simmons Thunderbird will hold it's value.... and possibly gain value due to the collectability of all things KISS. Gene also did play Gibsons on and off from 74-78 (including having a TBird as backup on tour). Rex switches endorsements like he (I hope) changes pants and I've never seen him play a Gibson TBird. He moved from Spector who wouldn't give him freebies to Warwick, who give them out like jelly beans. How he or Gibson can be taken seriously with this, though, I don't know. Still, he's got the Shamtera reunion to do with Zakk Wylde who, a year ago, he swore would definitely NOT be involved... Ah, the mighty dollar....
  14. Having watched the video they look/sound like a group of teenagers in their first band. Finding a bassist with long hair is the LEAST of their issues. Playing in time and singing in tune should be their priorities. You can add a 'name' Producer to anything but you can't always polish a turd....
  15. Fantastic amp and crazy good price. GLWTS!
  16. Yep, Peter Cetera is definitely my fave (hence my Basschat 'handle') and this amazing cover is a perfect example of why! So creative, melodic, grooving and solid..... and hugely underrated imho. Closely followed, for me, by Tiran Porter with the Doobie Brothers....
  17. I have my EQ at 2 o'clock bass, 2.30 lo-mid, noon hi-mid and 11.30 treble as the amp is very bright. Bump & Presence switches engaged. Input trim is around midday as my active Spector is very powerful. EQ on Spector dimed. I occasionally add just a tiny bit of grit from the drive section....
  18. They have a slab front and a very slight belly chamfer on the back
  19. Just to clarify. It is the Ian Hill neck shape (1.64 nut). The info on the webpage is a poor cut and paste by Bass Direct
