  1. Just stumbled across this cracking selection of isolated original basslines. Interesting to hear the original recorded tones and playing behind some iconic lines: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEsDszgMi-LZBRKgKUeS6vg/search?query=bass Click on the 'Videos' tab to hear ALL the other isolated vocal, guitar, keys, etc etc audio files
  2. True, but in the case of the Spectorbird (X model) they already have the templates from some custom orders they did a few years ago at the Czech factory.
  3. This..... ^ They really SHOULD release a Euro-X (Spectorbird) though..... we keep asking for it!
  4. Basses I lusted after, had pics on my wall etc.... : Gene Simmons (KISS) - his 1974 Lobue, his custom 1977 Spector SB1 and longer top horn SB1, his Staccato MG bass..... and the Axe! Sting (The Police) - white Spector NS2 Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) - blue sparkle P bass Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy)- black P bass with chrome scratchplate Eddie Jackson (Queensryche) - black Spector NS2, white Spector NS2 Rachel Bolan (Skid Row) - White pearl Spector NS2 Kip Winger (Winger) - Jackson sig model and Hamer Impact Masayoshi Yamashita (Loudness) - ESP PPJ-160 P-style bass with double P AND a J pickup! Rick Savage (Def Leppard) - Hamer Scarab Perry Richardson (Firehouse) - all-white (inc neck) custom Yamaha TBird Geddy Lee (Rush)- black Wal MK1
  5. Has anyone heard of, or have any first hand experience of, this company? They appear to make custom preamp pedals.... I'm particularly interested in this GK 800RB pedal: https://www.mastereffectspedals.com/super-eight-hundred They also have an Ampeg SVT pedal: https://www.mastereffectspedals.com/superthreehundred as well as Orange, Peavey, Traynor, HiWatt, Mesa/Boogie preamp pedals....
  6. Yep.... and another called Avon...
  7. My experience is one of not being stopped to check, ever..... Others experience may vary...
  8. Yep, as Peter Griffin said on Family Guy: "Not even Peter Criss wants to be Peter Criss" 🤣 He was such a grumpy bugger half the time.... I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the band told the crew to leave him up there a bit longer on purpose.... lol! The original 'Grumpy Cat'...
  9. I have an old bootleg of a KISS show in the 70's where at the very end of the gig the drum riser goes up 30ft in the air with lots of pyro exploding around it. As the explosions and audience noise fades and the rest of the band have obviously left the stage you can just hear drummer Peter Criss shouting (picked up by his mic) "Get me down!!! Get me the fukk down!!!" 😂🤣
  10. I started doing some vids for myself, just for fun, during lockdown and before I knew it I'd done over 100 of my fave basslines. Haven't uploaded any in a while as moving house but will be uploading more shortly... GPB Bassman vids
  11. "Apparently we've got to take a 10 minute break for the bloody 'meat raffle' but we'll be back shortly...." Me, on various bootleg tapes of gigs over the years anywhere north of Watford Gap......
  12. Re: Lifesigns - Anything with Dave Bainbridge on guitar is always worth a listen/purchase. A hugely important musician in so many ways....
  13. Great band. I have their first two. I really must buy the new album!
  14. Nice! That's an early 80's Brooklyn-made deep-set bolt-on Spector NS2J with Badass bridge, Haz pre and 2xEMG J pickups. They had fantastic growl....
  15. KISS - Alive KISS - Alive II Lynyrd Skynyrd - One More From The Road Thin Lizzy - Live & Dangerous Rush - Exit Stage Left Iron Maiden - Live After Death Journey - Captured REO Speedwagon - Live: You Get What You Play For Chicago - Live In Japan
  16. Yep, even that one. However, it only really 'offends'. It's those bulbous single cut ones that do my head in....
  17. Ugly bass? Anything single cut. There you go. You're welcome. Thread complete. You may now delete....
  18. Obviously accomplished players.... and I'd be interested in experiencing them live.... but, yet again, I'm left cold by them. Didn't like the groove and why was Cory Wong there? I couldn't particularly hear any contribution from him?
  19. Sounds to me like a pretty generic Darkglass or Sansamp gritty tone with a pick and some fret buzz from low action...
  20. I played this to a regular gig going member of the public and they said "That sounds like a bass guitar"
  21. It's an SX bass that someone has remodelled the headstock on and had refinished in blue. The bass in its original form would be approx £300.
  22. I actually saw him in Phantom at the Pantages Theatre in Toronto. He was excellent and received rave reviews from attendees and critics alike. He was no slouch as a vocalist but has suffered in recent years, and freely admits it...
  23. Yep, apart from on his own songs (where he did play bass), it was Paul Stanley, Bruce Kulick or Jean Beauvoir who played bass on the other tracks on those albums. I completely understand the reasoning behind using occasional vocal help on songs you sang high years ago, in order to see out the tour in style, giving the fans the show they deserve. Much rather that than a non-singer (Roth, Vince Neil etc) croaking his way through a set and leaving fans with a sour taste and sad memories.
